Your mixer may have zero calories, but the Bicardi is about 90 cals!:noway:

My son lives near Boston and LOVES Whole Foods. I wish we had more variety where I live.....our local grocery chain pretty much has a monopoly, so we have to shop there, or at BJs or Sams club.....not many other choices.

Today I had a check-up with my doctor. I had nothing but GOOD news.......18 lbs lost since September, blood pressure under great control, and cholesterol down THIRTY points! PLUS I've stopped taking the antidepressant I was on for 3 years. My doctor asked me how I did it, and I told her about MFP, the daily logging,…

peanut butter......190 cals for 2 tablespoons.....it's EASY to use that much or more on a sandwich or spread on an apple or banana!

Minimize the "damage" by avoiding cheese, sausage, and cream or alfredo sauce. When your dinner comes, divide your meal in half and push half of it to the side and DON'T touch it (or have the server box it right away). Have salad dressing on the side. And avoid the bread basket and dessert.

I love micro-baked apples!! Never thought of adding the granola......gotta try that!!

we just tried this recipe the other night and it was FABULOUS! (it is from the Better Homes and Garden's "New Dieter's Cookbook"). I served it over a small bed of rice, so you would have to add those calories to the count listed at the bottom. 1 lb skinless whitefish or other white-fleshed fish fillets (at least 1/2 in…

oooooo....that 500 calorie smoothie is a killer! I pretty much stick w/ 200-300 cals each for breakfast, 300-400 for lunch, 100 cals for an afternoon snack, 500-600 for dinner, and then allow myself an evening snack with any "leftover" calories. My breakfast is usually 1 packet of flavored instant oatmeal (170 cals) and a…

I've been on maintenance for about 2 months now. It was strange to be able to add calories at first, but doing the daily logging of my food really helped me change my habits. My weight loss calories were 1200, and I lost 17 lbs in about 3 months (late Sept to late Dec.....yes, even with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and…

After surgery, you MUST follow your doctor's orders about your diet, exercise, and restrictions. I had major back surgery in 2006 and major abdominal surgery in 2007. Both times, I was given dietary advice that did NOT include cutting calories. And WALKING was to be a daily activity, but all other exercise had to wait for…

Keep up the great work!!! (and we all know it IS work!):drinker:

Instant oatmeal (raisin and spice flavor) 2 cups of tea 2 slices of toast w/Promise spread

Surgery will DEFINITELY cause swelling! You didn't say whether the surgery was major or minor.....but you do need to let your body heal before trying to lose weight. You need to give your body the fuel it needs to repair the "damage" done by the surgery, and sometimes that means EXTRA calories <gasp!!> I had low back…

We switched to diet mixers for our drinks.....diet ginger ale and whiskey, diet Pepsi (not Coke) and rum, and diet cranberry soda and vodka. Took a little getting used to, but now drinks taste funny with regular mixers!

I always add celery and green peppers....volume, crunch, and flavor with very little calories! Use different types of greens, too (iceberg, romaine, butter lettuce, raw spinach). Cucumbers and mushrooms add volume without many calories, too, but I don't like either one of them. Be careful with cheeses, eggs,…

roasted chicken drumsticks w/roasted veggies (potatoes, onions, carrots) -- seasoned with garlic, a little olive oil and Italian herb seasoning homemade, unsweetened applesauce (haven't served purchased applesauce in YEARS!....always a huge supply in my freezer) steamed broccoli and cauliflower

I found that it does cause some weight gain -- for me it was only 5-10 lbs. My doctor INSISTED it wasn't the cause of the weight gain, but when I was ready to stop taking it the weight fell off. I don't think that was a coincidence! That being said.....take it if you need it! :flowerforyou:

I've wanted a tummy tuck for years, but have decided against it. I had to have medically necessary abdominal reconstruction last summer (multiple hernias, one of which was "incarcerated", so no time to bring in a plastic surgeon for additional work). The recovery was wicked. And this was just a year after having a low back…

I don't buy the low-cal waffles, but I do reduce calories by using Aunt Jemima Butter Lite syrup, and dipping the waffles into a measured amount of syrup. Pouring it on makes it way too easy to use too much and load on the calories! This syrup has 100 cals for 1/4 cup (I generally use 1-2 tbsp at the most, so less than 50…

We buy Weight Watcher's novelties (sandwiches, cookies 'n cream bars), or Perry's mini ice cream sandwiches or ice cream bars (that might be a local brand.....not sure where it is available). These are all 120-150 cals. I love Edy's Grand Light, but having a full container of ice cream makes it WAY too easy to "over-serve"…

When my husband and I decide to have a "reward" day, we don't log in our food.....we feel that if we made a conscious, deliberate decision to allow ourselves to eat without restrictions, why make ourselves feel bad about it afterwards? HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :drinker:

I was a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in my first career (that was about 4 careers ago!). I loved the work, but my certification lapsed when I decided to stay home to raise my kids. Best of luck in your studies......and you should be VERY grateful for having such a loving, supportive husband!:smooched:

move the brownies out of your sight.....those goodies are much more tempting when you can actually see them

He would have gotten an anti-viral medication, not an antiobiotic. Anti-vitrals have to be given within 48 hours of the first symptoms......the problem is that, with a TRUE flu, you are usually too sick those first 2 days to go to the doctors to get the medication prescribed!!

I've had GERD for years, but thankfully never had the swallowing issues. Follow your doctor's advice to help your esophagus heal. There are stronger meds out there that your doctor can give you if the Prilosec doesn't work. I've taken a prescription medication for at least 5 yrs, and feel much better if I watch what I eat.

Yesterday was a BAD day for me....it was a co-worker's birthday, so I baked a triple chocolate cake that is wonderful and rich......if I had stopped at one piece, I would have been OK, but I just HAD to have a piece in the afternoon with my tea. I scarfed down a large piece, then got really mad at myself because I realized…

ROASTED DRUMSTICKS AND VEGETABLES 8 chicken drumsticks 1.5 lbs white potatoes, scrubbed and cut into quarters (or smaller) 1 lb carrots, cut into 2" pieces (or use the "baby" carrots) 2 lb butternut squash, peeled and cut into 1" pieces (or use sweet potatoes) 2 medium onions, each cut into 8 wedges 4 cloves of garlic,…

Kinda depends on what kind of "baby belly" you have.....if it's the c-section pooch, your probably stuck with it! (sorry for the bad news....2 c-sections left me with a belly that I HATE, and no matter how much weight I lose, it's still there!) If it's the "stretched out" kind, exercises that target the "core" muscles will…
