  • You did NOT blow it! Awareness is a huge part of the battle!! Tomorrow you will be able to resist temptation a little more.
  • Here's the wall squat using a stability ball.....I LOVE this exercise! http://www.acefitness.org/getfit/exercise_display.aspx?pageID=266
  • I had low back fusion surgery about 18 months ago. I use the elliptical machine and treadmill (walk, don't run). My physical therapist and doctor said to not use a recumbant bike (too much stress on the back), but I can use an upright bike. I also do core exercises my therapist gave me after my surgery (squats using an…
  • My 22 yo daughter does Pilates 2 times a week, and has noticed a huge difference in her muscle tone, especially her legs and stomach. Seeing her results makes me want to go to class with her, but I can't because of medical restrictions.

  • my favorites are the chocolate and the peanut butter....GREAT munchie snack to have at my desk!
  • You need to aim for BIG food with LITTLE calories (raw green peppers, lettuce, celery, popcorn, blueberries, raspberries, clementines). Avoid cheese and fatty foods. It is VERY hard to stay with the 1200 calories, but worth the effort when the pounds melt away!!
  • I just did a Google search for "fibromyalgia, exercise", and came up with lots of sites with lots of information. Common ideas were walking, swimming, yoga.
  • Pepperidge Farms light breads are good (I use the white or the soft wheat). The slices are a little smaller and thinner than "regular" bread, but they are moist and tasty. Some light breads are dry because they reduce the fat content too much. Just be careful if you toast it....because they are thin, they tend to burn…
  • Almost every week you will find all of these in my shopping cart: Yoplait vanilla yogurt (tastes like cheesecake to me!) fresh berries Clementine tangerines instant oatmeal packets 90 cal granola bars fresh veggies (carrots, celery, green peppers, lettuce, spinach, asparagus) lite bread eggs (gee....sounds like I only eat…
  • Dove miniatures (the dark chocolate) have saved me through this transition to healthier eating and losing weight. I lost 17 lbs in just over 2 months, and had between 1 and 3 Dove miniatures every day (at 37 cals each, it was much less than the full-sized candy bars I used to eat!).
  • check out this website: http://www.caloriesperhour.com
  • WELCOME!! We are all here to get healthier and improve our lives, whether we want to maintain our current weight, lose a little, or lose a lot. The more, the merrier! :drinker:
  • Betty Crocker Mini Delights are WONDERFUL!!! Add a bit of low fat cool whip or a spoon of low-cal ice cream to any of the chocolate flavors and I'm in heaven! I know, I know.....I would be better off nutritionally to eat a banana or a cup of yogurt, BUT I only ave them once or twice a month as a treat.:flowerforyou:
  • You may need to make the calorie change gradually....working your way down to 1290. It was tough to go from eating whatever I wanted, to only eating 1200 calories a day, but as soon as I saw some results, I was hooked! 17 lbs in 2 months, and I have maintained it for 2 months now. Feeling this good about myself sure beats…
  • Quaker instant oatmeal (raisin and spice or maple brown sugar) Yoplait yogurt (especially vanilla) Lean Cuisine meals raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and frozen cherries broccoli lettuce and "salad fixin's" 90 calorie granola bars 100 cal popcorn eggs diet soda (ginger ale, caffeine-free pepsi, and cranberry…
  • You'll get over the feeling like everyone is watching you. Then you will realize that no one is really noticing you! One strategy......use a machine in the back row or in the corner. I go to an all-women's gym and feel very comfortable there. My 22 yo daughter uses a co-ed gym because she feels that women are too critical…
  • thanks for this info.....I love to try new recipes and am always looking for new sources!
  • If you filled out the profile and goals correctly/completely, and let the site calculate your calorie needs, you don't have to alter the calorie allowance to lose weight. It's OK to leave some calories for the day, but according to my doctor (and this site) make sure you eat at least 1200 calories per day.
  • Every one of these celebs is freakishly thin!
  • Remember that the goal is to live a healthier lifestyle, not to deprive yourself of all things wonderful and tasty! Weight loss and fitness does not have to be about deprivation.....it's a matter of "calories in, calories out". Since I started with My Fitness Pal in Sept., I have lost the 16 lbs I was aiming for. Yes, I…
  • My husband is a perpetual, chronic, habitual snacker.......we started on this site together in September, and have both lost over 15 lbs. To help us with the snacking issue, we stock the cupboards with 100 calorie snack packs and low sugar granola bars (90 cals each). He told me one particularly "weak" day that all these…
  • Trying on clothes makes me feel like a freak of nature......when I enter a store, I don't FEEL like I have a bizarre shape, but when I try on clothes I can't figure out WHO could wear some of them!!! And JEANS.....oh, God....don't get me started!:grumble:
  • nikii -- the recommendation is to not go under 1200 calories a day (that was confirmed by my doctor, as well as this site). Going under once in a while is OK, but you should try not to make a habit of it.
  • Keep up the GREAT work! :drinker:

  • I don't track anything but calories, since I use this site for weight loss/maintenance only. That's enough stress! :grumble:
  • A great song to add to your mix.....Tim Mcgraw's "How Bad do You Want It?"!! Great beat and great lyrics for motivation!
  • I agree.....my husband and I were AMAZED at how much we were eating when we started keeping track!
  • 100 calorie packs of popcorn or pretzels raw green peppers and celery with 1 wedge of Laughing Cow cheese (less than 75 cals) Quaker instant oatmeal (raisin and spice is only 150 cals) Weight Watcher's ice cream bars (cookies and cream is 140 cals)
  • ANY type of baked goods are "food bombs" (as my husband calls them)! I love Tim's muffins but haven't had one since September :grumble:
  • Portion control and calorie counting......gimmicks and "themes" don't work because you can't keep it up. Weight loss is a simple matter of calories in and calories out.
