  • Dove miniatures are only 37 cals each!!! I take 3-4 bites and let it melt in my mouth....it satisfies my chocolate cravings.
  • My husband and I noticed the same thing as we have been losing weight. 17 lbs ago, I wore summer nightgowns all year (even in sub-zero weather).....now I'm wearing long-sleeved ones this winter!
  • There's no physical advantage to stopping eating at 7pm (or any other time in the evening) except that it forces you to limit your calorie intake. Weight maintenance/loss/gain is a matter of "calories in" and "calories out". When I was on the 1200 cals per day, I had a Weight Watchers ice cream bar every night! As long as…
  • 500-700 calories per DAY? :noway: Are you sure you are counting everything?? What is a typical day's food like? I'm very curious.
  • icandoit.......are you SURE you cook that roast for 24 hours???? I cook my pot roast in the crockpot all the time and it only takes 6-8 hrs!
  • I LITTLE soreness is good.....means you actually made some progress, but a LOT of soreness means you waaaay overdid it. Pain is the body's way of telling you there is something wrong! Back off on the intensity a bit and work your way back up gradually. In the meantime, an anti-inflammatory (like Aleve, Motrin, or Advil)…
  • Haven't tried the calorie-free vodka yet, but one of my favorite drinks is vodka with cranberry soda (by Cape Cod).....used to use regular, but switched to diet in September and it's still fantastic!
  • Healthier_Me -- thanks so much for the link to allrecipes.com........I LOVE the feature where you can change the number of servings a recipe makes!!! Cooking for 2 instead of 4 or 5 leaves us with a LOT of leftovers some times. And not everything is good the next day.
  • I weigh myself every morning. I reached my weight loss goal a few weeks ago (17 lbs), and am in "maintenance mode", so the scale tells me whether I have to be extra-good that day, or if I can relax a bit.
  • Welcome!! Keep coming back here for support, reality checks, advice.....we're a decent bunch!
  • check out Mike's blog......he explains the new additions to the site
  • Your daily calorie count should not go below 1200.....it's not healthy. If you are a little under once in a while, it's not a problem. Eating too little puts your body into starvation mode and shuts down your metabolism to conserve energy. So the short answer (about 15 minutes past your self-imposed deadline) is YES, have…
  • I planned on getting "back on track" today........unfortunately I only got ONE foot back on the track!! :noway: BUT.....tomorrow I WILL get totally back on track.......I refuse to allow myself to ruin the 17 lb weight loss!!
  • Welcome to My Fitness Pal! You've taken the first crucial step.....a commitment to yourself and your health!
  • Everyone loses weight at different rates.....it only took me 12 weeks to lose 16 pounds, but it took my husband about 15 weeks, and he's on a stricter calorie and exercise routine than I am. I'd say there's nothing wrong......but you did prove to yourself that you were probably eating a LOT more than you realized!!!
  • Most days, I have a bowl of Quaker instant oatmeal at my desk (maple + brown sugar is 170 cals, raisin spice is only 150). Some days, to switch it up, I pour a container of Yoplait vanilla yogurt (170 cals) over fresh fruit (berries are the lowest in cals, but frozen cherries <thawed> or a banana is good, too).....the…
  • I am admitting here and now that I am a failure for the Christmas Challenge :blushing: ....however, I will be right back on track the day after. It was a conscious decision to not keep track of calories for a few days, but My Fitness Pal has made me sooooo aware of my intake, that I still count every calorie in my head!…
  • Welcome, and congrats on your early success! Keep up the great work!!
  • Thanks for the link!! This looks like a great resource.
  • I go to the gym right after work.....if I go home first, I always find an excuse not to go! :blushing:
  • I know the feeling -- this past weekend I fit back into my "little black dress" :drinker: !!!!! This site has helped me go from a 10 (that was sometimes tight) to a 6 or an 8. I'm only 5'2" with a small frame, so a 10 was unacceptable to me. It took me just over 2 months to lose 16 lbs, and now I'm figuring out the…
  • I allow myself "treats" every day.....a small cookie, a piece of chocolate, a granola bar, etc. Just be sure to work it in to your daily allotment of calories. My husband tries to anticipate when he needs some "extra" calories and goes to the gym and works extra hard, "earning" the calories he needs (or "paying" for the…
  • Thanks for sharing! I LOVE wedding pictures and you look MAH-VELOUS!
  • Welcome back and congrats! I LOVE St. John.......it's such a beautiful island!!
  • Lean Cuisine is my favorite (avoid the spa cuisine line in the light blue box.....I don't like ANY of them!) Healthy Choice tends to taste bland, but the chicken basil panini is pretty good Smart Ones have some good choices
  • Keep up the good work!!! The little victories are the best!!:drinker:
  • Here's a good exercise for someone with a bad back, for the glutes and the thighs, using an exercise ball http://www.acefitness.org/getfit/exercise_display.aspx?pageID=266 I got this one from my physical therapist after my lumbar fusion surgery......it takes the balance issue out of doing lunges!
  • Check with your doctor about your calorie intake -- you may need extra calories for proper healing. I have had 4 surgeries in the past 3 yrs (2 major ones), and my doctors urged me to NOT cut calories during the initial recovery, add protein, and drink plenty of fluids. It may be discouraging, but they may have you put the…
  • Wheat Thins, reduced fat -- 70 cals for 16 crackers spread with: Laughing Cow cheese wedges -- 35 cals per wedge ....if you put the cheese spread on celery instead of the crackers, it's only a 40 calorie snack! Clementine tangerines are only 40 cals each Raw green peppers are only 15 calories for a 1/2 pepper......dip in a…

  • I would think it would be easier and more consistent to use the calendar day (midnight to midnight) as your day, unless you plan to keep the same wake/sleep hours even when you aren't working
