#1 hint for making spanikopita.......keep the phyllo dough moist! Once it starts to dry, it cracks, breaks, chips, tears.....it is VERY fragile.

One habit I've had to break is the CONSTANT eating at my desk! I had gotten so there was always something to munch on. My job involves a lot of "thinking time" and keyboarding when I have writing assignments (I am a paralegal), and having goodies to munch on seemed to keep my mind working (at least that's what I told…

I am a sucker for pies and cookies  I love to bake, so it has been a challenge to avoid the oven this fall. When I have gotten the urge, I have made some treat, eaten a very small portion within my calorie allowance, then either taken the goodies to work or given them to my daughter to take home! Now.....yesterday…

Happy Thanksgiving a day late (sorry.......I chose to decide that My Fitness Pal did not exist yesterday!! :blushing: )

I wish I had thought to do this......I have lost the 15 lbs I set out to lose, and I KNOW I look better, but wish I had the "before and after" proof!

icus -- as you lose weight, your body requires less calories to function. So, yes, you should update your goals as you lose. On the other hand, once you reach your goal weight, you should change the settings to maintenance level or you will continue to lose (or if you just forget about keeping track, you will start to gain…

I am 5'2", started at 143 lbs, used the 1200 net cals per day w/2 thirty-min workouts a week. The site said I would lose .6 lbs a week, but I lost all 15 lbs in less than 9 weeks. Don't eat less than 1200 cals a day. It is unhealthy.....my doctor warned me that losing more than 2 lbs a week puts your liver and kidneys…

My husband and I have each lost 15 lbs in the past 8 weeks, so we decided to just pretend that MFP doesn't exist for that day (sorry guys!). We will be back on track by Saturday (have to enjoy leftovers on Friday!).

I usually eat a packet of instant oatmeal (flavored......don't like the plain!)....it ranges from 150-170 calories. For a change of pace, I have 6 oz vanilla yogurt with fresh (or frozen) berries for a total of about 230-250 calories. When I would REALLY like to have a donut, I have a SlimFast meal replacement bar (the…

the recipe calculator on Spark People has been invaluable for me and my husband since we joined My Fitness Pal....let's me use my "tried and true" recipes!

here's a forward question.......could you be pregnant? Food aversions is a common sign!

There are lots of 100 calorie snack packs out there right now, plus 90 cal granola bars, mini chocolate bars, 90 cal Special-K snack bars (I love the chocolate drizzle one). Strawberries and raspberries have minimal calories (apples and bananas are higher, but are good for you, so if you work them in to your calories for…

Keep up the GREAT work!!

Dove dark chocolate miniatures......37 cals each! Let 'em melt in your mouth...they last longer!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Shopping is the reward I promised myself!!!! Hitting the mall this weekend! Woohoo! Thanks for the congrats. I hope to be able to return the favor in the near future to each and every one of you.

When I found My Fitness Pal just about 6 weeks ago, I was at my all-time high weight (not counting pregnancies). Since then, I have lost 13 pounds, and reached my goal weight as of this morning!!! I didn't plan to lose the weight so quickly....I was supposed to be on a 1-pound-1-week track. I guess my metabolism had other…

I really like the meal replacement bars (the caramel peanut one is great!)....however, they are 220 calories. I eat one for breakfast with my tea if I am craving a donut or waffles or chocolate. Otherwise I stick to my yogurt and berries or packet of instant oatmeal (raisin and spice is only 150 calories!). I don't like…

Great resource! I had low back fusion surgery last year, and can attest to the need to keep active with back pain. If you aren't certain what you can and cannot do, consult a physical therapist and/or your doctor so you don't do more harm than good!!

I get my "chocolate fix" with 1 Dove miniature after lunch. The dark chocolate ones are 37 cals each. I take tiny bites and let it melt in my mouth to make the chocolate taste last longer (chewing it just makes it disappear too fast!)

calorieking.com also has a tool for figuring out how many calories you burn doing various activities, including weight lifting. It is based on height, weight, and gender. You can add your "calories burned" as your own entry in the cardio portion of the exercise log

My husband and I had immediate weight loss. After 5 weeks, we are each down 12 pounds! The beauty of this website is that it keeps you on track (as long as you are honest with yourself and what you eat and about your exercise)

The hungry feeling will ease up......you are still getting your body used to eating less. You will adjust. I hit the 5 wk mark today, and there are still times that it is a definite conscious effort to NOT eat. Using this website to help with my weight loss has taught me that I was becoming quite a glutton!!! Not…

I use this website all the time and LOVE it!!! Being able to cook my familiar recipes makes dieting easier.

This site has been wonderful for me and my husband.....we have both passed the 10 lb mark in 5 weeks! We have eaten pizza, ice cream bars, candy, toast with butter, our nightly cocktail, and tonight we had strip steak! We just work it into the daily calories, and take a long walk if we overeat. Portions have gotten…
