I try to eat 20-30g a day and usually don't have a problem. When I used to have bad eating habits it was probably more like 5. Most processed foods have little or no fiber and that's what most people eat so it is easy to see why there is a deficiency with most people.

My belated advice would be to eat at home just prior but try to fill up on healthy food and then just eat a simple salad or something.

This site has really helped me as well just stay on top of stuff. Good luck to you and my goal weight is the same at 160lbs or so!

Not everyone on MFP has access to large assortments of food. In the grocery stores where I am there is no hummus and I could bet that 99% of the people that I could meet on the street don't know what it is.. Anyways, I quite enjoy hummus, but there is no tahini paste here. Does anyone have a recipe/alternative for tahini…

I've seen tons of labels where I am that are completely false. Sometimes it is so obvious it isn't funny like it will say 5g protein, 10g carbs (0 fiber), 3 g fat and then the calories will be 20 when it should be closer to 90. In fact the other day for the first time (since spending most of my time in Peru) I saw plain…

Something to consider that tastes quite good is fresh lime juice and mustard. It does have calories but limes are pretty healthy!

I can tell you that I've hurt my back so bad from running that I couldn't leave my house for a few days because of the pain. It is a very stressful activity on the body especially if you are overweight and trying to exert too much, run too far, etc. My advice to you would be to try and walk the parts you are supposed to…

It is a lot less stressful if you already know you are going to be over and just mentally plan for it and enjoy it. One day going over 500 calories is pretty small if you look at it over a couple months.

I think your carb intake can deviate from mfp as long as you keep hitting your overall caloric goals. I personally have modified my goals to be high on carbs and protein and low on fat. I eat tons of fruit and veges, tons of good carbs ( no processed sugars) and I easily lose my 2 lbs a week and always feel full. I do…

Here are a few suggestions I've read on this board to get those extra calories you need them: - Peanut butter - Smoothie - Meal replacement shake

Keep in mind that everyone is giving you potential things to bypass a certain type of block however all of your browsing activity will be logged by your company. You can't really get around that. If you use a proxy, the proxy will be logged and that in itself is probably enough to make them suspicious. Just make sure if…

Can of low sodium tuna, some bbq sauce, bread, and an apple.. :) Bringing your lunch is the best thing you could probably due to avoid the oh so good fried food!

This is the best response ! :) Your "friend" will tell you that you are "too skinny" when you get to a healthy weight and ridicule you all the same. You will find out real fast all of the people who are supporting you and who will be sabotaging you. I've flat out told people to not offer me desserts, etc and they'll…

Just to let you know, the incognito features of chrome, safari, firefox or any other browsers have nothing to do with your work tracking you. If your work policy is to not use these sites, and they are tracking your usage, they will have a full record of all your visits to these sites regardless of what you do in your…

I'd like to thank everyone for their opinions. So, is the consensus about starvation mode in the body when you stop losing weight minimally and maybe you start gaining whilst eating few calories?

I really have to force myself to eat breakfast, but I'm the opposite. If I don't eat anything, then I go crazy at lunch b/c I'm so hungry. I typically eat an apple and a couple mandarine oranges, or oatmeal plus an apple.. I think because an apple is so bulky it keeps me filled and removes that urge to go crazy around…

I believe chicken and turkey breast are leaner than fish, but I could be wrong. Also, egg whites and protein powder are good sources.

Not everyone is a lady here!

I started walking in April because I can't do much else. It has really helped me lose a lot of weight without injuring myself. I was a runner before injuries and when I started I didn't much like doing it. After losing 2-3 lbs per week, I've changed my mind! I like to call it urban hiking and Every day in April I've walked…

Thanks spacie I will check it out. I actually can't stand aspartame but splenda is another story! Again, thanks for the follow up.

Nice to find another sweet potato lover out there! I eat them straight out of the oven, skin and all, or I boil them and eat them plain. Personally, I think they are great without anything on them!!! I eat so many of these that my girlfriend sometimes calls me "camotito" which comes from the peruvian word for sweet potato…

spacie - I've heard this before but never have I looked into it.. Do you by chance have a link to some reputable articles as I'd love to read them!

Hey drucole, I'm with you almost exactly and with awesome results. I would add for me: - I never cheat though it wouldn't be a big deal if I did every once in a while. I consume tons of fruits and vegetables and only lean meat and fish. - I try to eat about 30 g of fiber every day. This pretty much means you have to eat…

I live in South America and I can easily see how grapes could be $1 per pound (even in the USA) especially if the store is subsidizing the price as someone else mentioned. In many of the countries around me, more than half the population lives off $1 per day. Yeah, you read that right. $1. Life is much different here, but…

Take a look at all the people who have responded. Many have lost over 15lbs so far and I could probably bet you that most have had at least 1 day where they didn't eat exactly as they planned. The good thing is, it is only one day, and maybe you overate 1000 calories, but look at the rest of the week/month/year and you are…

I eat about 20g (mostly from olive oil in cooking and skinless chicken breast) of fat each day. For me, this just works and I easily lose 2lbs per week (or more). I think you should just try the original settings and if it works for you great, if not, then you can go down or up and see what happens! Good luck!

I think SHBoss1673 has made some great points though I'll share my personal opinion on the subject as well. The single largest thing a person can do with regards to weight loss (not overall shape) is a change in nutritional eating patterns. Before any jumps on this, I'm only referring to one aspect of weightloss, but what…

That's awesome! Great job!
