  • Word of caution about wearing clothes that are too big for too long. In the past it lulled me into thinking that I wasn't gaining back the weight once I'd stop journaling / weighing. Plan to stick with it this time. Having been a goodwill / resale / thrift store / clearance rack shopper for years you can reoutfit for not…
  • "All the talk here about peer pressure and girl drinks reminded me of this KITH'S sketch - Girl Drink Drunk :D" Lourdesong, that skit was hilarious, had to fwd to friends. Thanks for sharing.
  • I'm trying to limit my sucrose to see how it influences the wild swings in my blood glucose readings. Just changed my diabetes med and would really like it to work. Many people try to limit added sugar for health reasons. This thread is probably targeted to those that are already trying or want to try to limit sugar, not…
  • Vancouver / Camas, also have lived in Snoqualmie, Kirkland, Tillamook and Corvallis. Love the green and grey of the Pacific NW
  • And let's not forget that you have eaten a lot more food than you normally do and that much of it is probably still "in process". I agree that a periodic binge will do you good and may even rev your metabolism. Just don't do it too frequently or too often or you'll be in the unenviable position of trying to lose it all…
  • Great advice for making it a truly positive lifestyle change rather than a "diet". Also your previous comments on exercise verify that building muscle will burn the fat. Did you strive for a minimum amount of protein to support lean muscle? Any key nutrition learnings beyond smaller portions?
  • I'll join you. I've read tons of stuff and believe that building muscle and eating well is the way to go. Also am on board with the HIIT to kick up the metabolism, but for only 30 mins on non weight lifting days. Drop me an email, let's strategize.
  • Great job and great inspiration.
  • Love the thread and read all 6 pages. Lot's of laughs and quite a few soul mates that I could happily binge with. So glad no one posted that they left it all behind and now only like what's good for them in precise portions. As for me - I like it ALL!
  • Great job, keep up the good work. I'll bet that you are seeing huge gains in your speed and endurance on the bike as well.
  • "What does it matter? If people like eating 5-6 times a day why are you to rain on their parade? For me, it is a medical necessity...for others it keeps them on track." Yup, me too. I am insulin resistant and eating multiple small meals per day with the right protein/carb ratio helps to regulate my glucose levels. Keeps…
  • It can be a symptom of metabolic syndrome and/or insulin resistance. Once I got my blood glucose under control I went from 36 inch waist to 30. MUFA's, flax seed oil also seem to help. I highly recommend the Abs Diet for Women by David Zinczenko. Lot's of good science behind it.
  • Great job and great feeling! I love being able to "shop" in my own closet. Finally more stuff that is too big than too small and quite a bit of little worn that is "just right" ; )

  • I want to be a lean, mean Grammy machine!:drinker:
  • Keep up the good work!
  • Good job! All of those little things add up and help us stay focused. For me it's knowing that I can now comfortably wear and look good in almost anything in my closet.
  • And I had been about to comment that IM's last post was the most brilliant that I'd seen. This certainly tops it!
  • Yes, they do last forever. They have found Twinkies in the pyramids that were still edible.
  • Surely Twinkies are global!
  • Great post and as you said, great thread. I especially agree with the number on the scale comment. I am interested, but I honestly do not have a "goal weight". The goal now is a healthy, toned body - not a number on the scale. Once I've achieved that, I'll know what my "goal weight" is.
  • Thanks for posting this link. Read the first few entries and bookmarked it so that I can come back to it. Even though I'll be 56 in Feb and am insulin resistant, I've lost 13 lbs with only a few left to go. Have also started 30 DS, just every other day, and already see gains in my endurance. Keep it going gals!
  • Wow, looks like a lot more. You must be very petite. Good job!
  • Love my food scale, use it every single day. I am a firm believer in knowing "for sure" what my calories in and out are. If you don't have a HRM for exercise calories, you may want to add that next.
  • Yes, great work. I too love going "shopping" in my own closet when (almost) everything fits again. Great feeling! I still have a few more pounds to go before a few of my "inspiration" pieces fit, but thanks to MFP I know I'll get there. Enjoy NYE!
  • Thank you, thank you! I have been searching for a site like this.
  • Great work! Doesn't it feel good to wear things now to compliment your shape rather than disguising it? That's what I appreciate, along with the comfortable fit. How's maintenance going? I hope to be there soon.

  • Wow, what fun! I too love Jack. I can remember watching him when I was a kid - that was awhile ago : ) How many times a day do you do the exercises? How long did it take for you to see results? Thanks for a great tip, it may save me some $$
  • Here's what I plan to do at goal. Not plastic surgery, not a toxin, actually replaces lost collagen, costs about $1000. http://www.radiesse.com/
  • My husband and I have always used real butter, but switched to Land O Lakes Light Butter about a year ago. Basically it is water, butter and canola oil whipped together, half the cals of butter and great taste. I continue to eat (light) butter, real mayo, whatever I like in limited quantities and log it. I'd rather have a…
