thanks for responding guys - i think you've both hit the nail on the head - so i didnt lose my ideal but there was a good reason for it which i totally accept - and i'm back on the wagon since returning from holidays so i've every reason to believe i will continue to progress - yes, i think i am quite resilient - although…

thanks - will drop a few more lbs then and reset the goals anyway to be sure I'm on the right track.

I should add that I am being quite sensible, eating the right amount of food to keep my calorie intake up - I have also deliberately not cut out any particular food groups as want to keep variety in my diet for sanity (and health!) - so I think I'm ok(?)

thanks guys - my plan is 20lbs in 20 weeks - at a goal of 1lb per week, I thought I'd probably lose more than that in the first couple of weeks, giving me a head start (true so far as only 2.5 weeks in and 4lb down) - and figured if I kept with the same calorie deficit then the weight loss will naturally slow down anyway…

great thanks - will wait to see it adjust automatically so

I quit 11 years ago - about 4 years ago had one too many drinks on a night out and lit up for a friend - everything I'd eaten that day swiftly came up (sorry but had to share!) - now I can't stand the smell of tobacco as it literally makes me wretch!

I have learnt a very simple but valuable lesson - that having a bad day doesn't mean it's all over - it just means I gave in to temptation that day - even if the giving in lasted all day - it doesn't matter - just remember not to expect miracles at that weeks weigh in - this has been a very important lesson to learn as…

What's a motivation poster /goal list - what do you put on it? (sorry probably a stupid question!)

great - really appreciate the answer.

thanks so much - that's the reassurance I'd hoped for - have the food scales etc and have used MFP on and off over the years so thought I was right on this but not certain - am I right that a 3500 cal deficite equates to 1lb?

hi, I've just posted a question on the food/nutrition board and then noticed this thread - you sound like the right people to help with my query! I hope to lose 20lb in 20 weeks (very achieveable) - according to MFP my basic calorie need is 1930 cals/day - so I plan to cut by 500 cals/day which should equate to 1lb per…

thanks everyone - feel much better now - will stick with the 1200 net calories for now and see how it goes over the next couple of weeks...and you're right I have no patience!
-
thanks so much for your response - i guess you're right - 4lbs is pretty good I guess - I suppose I thought it might be a little more - on the calories, I'm exercising also so netting 1200 - my plan is to drop some pounds and then increase my intake to maintain (I think around 1800 calories/day should do it)....but until…

thanks for the advice guys - sounds sensible to listen to my body - presumably you mean if it starts to hurt, I need to pull back a little(?) - so will just stick with it so and see what happens :-) thanks again.
