  • I stick to low cal drinks and I only drink 3 nights a week (this includes a glass of wine at dinner). I used to have at least a glass of wine almost every night, so this cut the drinking in half. I either have a couple glasses of dry wine or a vodka/club soda/splash of juice or lime. No more margaritas or lemon martinis…
  • what appears to be spot reduction is actually an even fat loss over the body that is more obvious in areas where fat was "thinner" and/or you built/toned muscles. For instance my arms appeared toned and muscular first...because there was less fat to lose on them and I built the muscles up rapidly on my arms. This gives the…
  • Well said and explained! I hope everyone on this post takes the time to read this!
  • Hmmmm...... Timothy McVeigh did not use guns to detonate the OK Federal building. The terrorists on the planes on Sept. 11 did not use guns, either. I guess banning guns won't really stop terrorists and psychotic mass murderers after all, huh? Also...we do not just have the "right to bear arms" so we can defend our house…
  • You can't be serious. So you think that if James Holmes had been unable to buy his weapons at Bass Pro that he just would have said "well, maybe I won't commit this heinous crime after all. Probably going to be too much effort to find guns". Please. He just would have paid more and gotten even wilder ones from the…
  • and oh, btw...does anyone really think that a deranged murderer cares about breaking a gun law? Please. All you accomplish there is keeping guns away from the responsible, law abiding citizens. Outlawing guns or even specific kinds of guns only creates a demand for a black market and more criminal gun dealers. prohibition…
  • http://abcnews.go.com/US/okla-woman-shoots-kills-intruder911-operators-shoot/story?id=15285605 Here is a PRIME example to answer your question. This girl saved her own life and the life of her newborn child when 2 guys broke into her home after learning through obituaries that her husband had died of cancer several days…
  • Good for you for being so supportive! Wish my hubby paid as much attention. I think he is sick of hearing me talk about weight and food though..LOL! I am in the same boat, although not as much to lose...I am not losing anymore. My shape is improving and I am pretty sure I have less fat over my muscles...but it is hard to…
  • my favorite right now is absolute mandarin, club soda, splash of ginger ale. It is low cal and very refreshing. The orange vodka makes all the difference!
  • I find most of the chains like Banana Republic, Limited, Gap, etc are the worst. They are at least 1 size off, if not 2. Designer clothing like the brands in the Savvy dept of Nordstrom are much more accurate. I wear clothing from everywhere and so I have sizes from 4 to 8 and S-M-L in my wardrobe.
  • YOu lived in Alaska for 5 years??? Wow, do people live in igloos? Is it dark all year long? Is it light all day long? Is it really cold there? (yes...it IS really cold! haha...other than that pretty normal!)
  • I have had 2 droids and I like them fine but i also have a lot of issues with forced closes and apps not connecting. I am going to try an iPhone next.
  • I was very small chested in my early 20s...got implants and went to a full c and was very happy. After 10 years they needed to be revised so I had new, larger implants put in (to fill out the extra skin from some post-pregnancy sag) which gave me a full DD. I HATED the bigger implants! They were fake looking and hard and I…
  • I have been stuck in the low 140s for too long...need to tighten down my diet and workouts to break this plateau! Going to try to make this the month I break past the 140s and get down to a consistent 138 or less. Non-weight goal is to stick to my 6 day a week workout plan...3 cardio classes per week, 3 days strength…
  • Thank you both for your service! I am a "spouse" myself. Your hubby is going to flip out when he sees you!!! You look amazing. Has he seen pics or is this a big surprise? Great job!!!!
  • well, it's not healthy but in an emergency and for one day only you can take diuretics and drink water and black coffee. You should be able to lose enough water and empty your colon enough to go down one size. But watch drinking alcohol like this because you will already be severly dehydrated and can get really sick! And…
  • If you eat lean meats and trim every bit of fat off before cooking you should be able to derive protein from cheese, greek yogurt, nuts, and protein shakes with skim w/out going over on fats. I eat a lot of shrimp, chicken breast, and once or twice a week flank steak (it is not as yummy as filet but much healthier). This…
  • Not much you can do. My husband refused to give up fast food and junk until he was diagnosed with a bad kind of cholesterol and had to start medication for his liver. He is not even overweight...he just ate too much fat for his body to process and it had damaged his liver. :( He saw the light then and little by little he…
  • oh yes...as you get closer to being at your goal weight people will become critical and tell you "you don't need to diet", "you don't need to work out", etc, etc. I have decided that everyone, no matter how fit and slim and trim, needs to watch what they eat...perhaps not diet but make healthy choices every day. The same…
  • from the top down...face, shoulders, arms, back, stomach, legs. Seems to be the common pattern for women???
  • I don't have stretch marks but I do have wrinkles! Not big wrinkles either..little, old lady-looking wrinkles from having my stomach so stretched out twice. They will never go away because they are not caused by fat but just extra skin. Oh well...I will be happy to just have a flat belly again...even a wrinkley flat belly.…
  • I would log mowing...if I mowed. LOL! Other than that...no! I think it is ridiculous when people log a 7 minute dog walk at 30 calories, or cleaning. Those are your regular, everyday activities and should be factored in with your activity level when you set your profile and settings up. Seems kind of desperate to believe…
  • I am 140 right now...wearing several sizes, depending on the design/brand. I just bought a suit from Banana Republic with a size 4 jacket, size 6 pants...most of my dresses are size 6, most of my jeans are 28 or 29 depending on how much stretch they have.
  • I am not a breakfast person either, so I put a scoop of my chocolate protein powder into my coffee...kills 2 birds with one stone, and it tastes pretty good...not like a real mocha but it's better than plain coffee. :)
  • So many small things...seeing all the beautiful clothing in my closet that I could no longer wear and instead was having to buy new things that were "slimming", seeing myself in pictures, being put on high blood pressure meds at age 36, seeing friends who were taking better care of themselves and working out who looked…
  • Me too! I am now very high protein (mostly lean but not always) and low carb and I pay no attention to fat anymore except to make sure I get plenty of the good fats and I am finally losing after both gaining and just standing still on this site for months. High protein and good fats help a lot of people lose fat!!!!
  • The same thing happened to me. I was eating 1200 a day and some of the exercise cals back...plus working out a lot and not losing at all. Then I increased to a standard 1400-1500 a day, regardless of exercise (and I normally burn 500-700 a day...yes I know it puts me in a huge deficit but this is working for me so I really…
  • OOPS...yes, you are right...bodybuilders.com! Sorry! :)
  • Actually, if you are working out a lot, especially lifting, the BF% online from calculators is completely inaccurate. It is a VERY rough estimate based on a completely average person's height/weight/structure stats. It has no way to factor in your actual muscle mass. Your height and weight could stay the same but your fat…
  • I started out at 28%...after 2 children and years of crash dieting with no exercise. I had lost all my muscle! In 3 months I have gone down to 25% (yet only lost a few lbs! Interesting!)...my first goal is 22%, then I will try to continue to lower that into the upper teens if possible. Judging from my trainer and the…
