  • Stop worrying about weight and start focusing on how you look and feel. We are about the same height and weight, but I need to loose at least 10 lbs which is fat. Sounds to me like you have lost your fat and weigh more because of muscle. If that is the case and your BMI is that low, stay off the scales.
  • Seriously, it sounds to me like you need some counseling. You did not say what your height is, but it sounds like you want to be UNDERweight, and you are willing to eat unhealthy to achieve it. Please seek some help from a psychological professional.
  • What a great accomplishment. Congratulations!! As for the "friends" ~ a true friend is someone who loves and accepts you for who you are. BUT, if you are not nice, they may not want to hang around with you. So follow the golden rule and good friends will follow you.
  • As an attorney I have helped several couples with adoption. While I applaud your efforts to get healthy, I would ask you to think about the joy of rescuing a child. EVERY parent I placed a child with, feels just as much love and attachment as any parent to a naturally born child. It is just a different process for…
  • Welcome. It is a great tool and the tracking has been very educational for me. When you enter your starting weight, do it retroactive if you can it will give you more encouragement going forward. AND... Congratulations on the 30lb loss what a GREAT accomplishment. Often when we loose that much our bodies stop loosing…
  • DON'T focus on weight loss... focus on being healthy. The famous gymnast Mary Lou Rettin said in a recent interview she will not allow a scale in her house. As you exercise you build muscle which weighs more than fat. Feel good, look good... the weight is irrelevant!
  • To ME eating at least 1/2 of the exercise calories is the motivation that gets me to exercise... its my reward and it works .... for me.
  • Loosing SLOWLY is EXACTLY the way to do it. It took years to put it on, take if off slow for best long term results.
  • WOW... You look GREAT.
  • You can move a mountian with a teaspoon... It just takes a while. It took you years to get that 100lbs... take it off slow and it will be more likely to stay off. Don't DIET... Just start being healthy....
  • Eat the food pyramid... DON'T do fad diets DON'T starve or try to loose too much too fast. It took YEARS to get where you are, take it off slow to keep it off. EXERCISE regularly. I believe you should do something that YOU enjoy doing. Don't do an exercise program that you hate. I like walking and riding my bike and…
  • Good for you for having the fortitude to move your life forward. May I suggest you include your kids (where appropriate) in not only to join your journey for a healthier eating choices but also in getting out with them and exercising together. Going on walks, riding bikes, swimming, kicking a soccer ball around... what…
  • I like the bike pedal idea.. I might get one of those. I think I saw one a long time ago at Sports Authority...
  • how many reps of cat lifting? '-)
  • YES! Keep moving that body... You can also take the stairs instead of the elevator Go on a walk during your lunch time Park your car further away Go up and down stairs during your breaks
  • Night eating has always been my problem as well. But for motivation I don't think about weight loss, I think of how I want to FEEL. I want to be healthy, I don't want to die young. I want to be active and enjoy life. SO... I am trying to eat healthy and get proper exercise. I think the exercise is the most important thing.…
  • My understanding is that muscle weighs more than fat. You may be in that interim period where you are loosing fat and gaining muscle, hence no weight loss. Instead of weighing yourself, try just measuring yourself, bust, hips, waist, thighs, biceps. Don't weigh in for a month, just measure. See what is really happening to…
  • Take it slow and be honest with your tracking!
  • Sounds like with your workout schedule that 1200-1500 calories per day is not enough. Are you tracking your workouts here as well? If so, eat the calories you work out as well minus 100 or 200, and see if that helps. Your weight loss goal should not be more than 2lbs per week. Remember, it took years to put on the weight,…
  • This website is great. I think exercise is the real key, and this site not only tracks that it rewards me with more calories! It took years to put on the weight, it takes time to take it off... be patient.
  • Good luck! 1. Don't eat less than 1250 calories 2. Exercise is crucial to success 3. Don't deny yourself a taste of cake (etc), remember moderation 4. Find fun foods you like that are healthy 5. Be honest in your reporting here 6, EXERCISE
  • Ride a bike. You get twice as much bank for your buck riding a bike than walking, same time, double the calories! and its fun too.
  • You sound like you will do just fine. I found this site over a month ago and I love it.
  • YES... it matters. Eat HEALTHY. Find good foods you enjoy eating.
  • WOW... What a great accomplishment! Kudos to you!!!
  • My advice is a bit different. I lost 35lbs some years ago and put 20 back on. I say its about learning to be healthy: 1. Eat a proper diet - fads and extreme dieting does not work long term 2. Exercise regularly. MFP helps to encourage me to do this by rewarding me for my exercise. 3. DON'T deny yourself. Its OK to have a…

  • Every day is a new beginning. Congratulations on doing so well for so long AND the fact you used eat that much without feeling bad. Now you know your health is more important so you are on your way.
  • Dittos on the site. Best of luck to you!
  • What a hero you are! Such a GREAT example to your daughters. Keep it up, teach them a healthy lifestyle. Remember its really about HEALTH not weight. A healthier you will be able to do more, be alive longer for your girls and be able as a grandma to have more fun with grand-children when they come. Don't DIET.... Live…
