It is hard to face losing our fur babies and supporting them through this stage. I’m going to guess that you are facing that problem one day at a time and trying to enjoy the moments you can when you can. I would encourage you to treat your weight loss journey in a similar way. You probably don’t feel motivated to do what…

I posted Friday about how losing the shame made all the difference for me and how hard it can be to see beyond it. The fact that you are here saying this is a huge step. An important step also is to recognize how your actions and thoughts are completely understandable given all the circumstances. Combat any thoughts that…

I teach high school English and love everything Whedon, tv, movie , and comics. Also love Harry Potter and really good young adult sci-if/fantasy. I also run a student writers club. I love seeing all the Geek girl posts lately. Add me if you like :)

In a work environment, it's better than the damage sitting all day can do. For exercise, you are probably going to want more intensity soon.

Ooh! Ooh! Geeks, nerds, anybody add me for committed support  I owned the original the original D&D red box. I travelled to both coasts to meet Joss Whedon. We live near Atlanta, home of DragonCon, and love all Fandom. My husband is about to own his third Green Lantern Cosplay. I just offered my kids fencing…

Interesting question. I've been thinking about this lately too. I know I want to build healthy habits, but at New Years I saw that I had the same goals as always: be lighter, be healthier. Fast forwarded I've been working through some goal setting programs and there is something really beneficial about being able to tick…

Turtles are awesome! It has to be deep change in habits and lifestyle or we'll always be starting over.

It's hard to start again, as I know too well, but it sounds like you can use the focus on positive things. May the force be with you

Oh, I feel this! I was working through some goal setting and it's beyond frustrating to see that the goals are the same year in and year out. I thought I conquered this once and for all a year and a half ago, but it slowly slipt away. I keep trying to start over but it's hard to recapture the long term motivation. I just…

There is nothing more motivating than having your enthusiasm beaten with a semantic stick. Let a girl feel good for a minute; keep your toxic comments to yourself.

They are both fabulously awesome.

I hadn't heard of this. I'm going to check it out.

I lost nearly 40 while taking Effexor. I went off for another reason, and a year later when I was spiraling into depression, I realized that the weight loss stopped with out the mess. I think losing weight is possible. Build motivation. Get some healthy highs from vigorous exercise. You can do it :-)

If you really want to be a Jedi look into Aikido. The philosophy revolves around harnessing the force of the attacker.

I eat a small bag of baby carrots. Lots of fiber and takes a while. Also, I cut up an apple and sprinkle w cinnamon. With a handful of walnuts it's a snack that lasts a good while.

I am a turtle on that road. I'm most concerned with changing my lifestyle for keeps. I have plenty left to do, but I've maintained a 30+ loss for two years. Feel free to add me if you like.

I started looking at sodium when my weight shot up overnight. I found out I was using a dressing with crazy sodium. The other day I ate out for two meals. I was under calories but the sodium was through the roof. It makes you think about what you put in your body. Other than that, I have heard there is new concern about…

Since you sit all day, consider this info. It might also help with energy. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/24/sitting-at-work-why-its-dangerous-alternatives_n_1695618.html

Check out YouTube. There's something for everybody including the physically impaired. I've been using a LI workout from fitness blender there. But overall, the pool is a great way to get your heart rate up.

Lots of good suggestions. I would also suggest seeing a doctor about depression. You mention several things that are indicators.

Let the 4 yr old pic the video. Throw in some silly kids stuff. i don't know what's current, but The Wiggles and such could be a pre work out. Maybe do some healthy cooking with her. Don't make it about weight and restriction. Make it about a positive goal like 10 more push ups a day or something.

I have suffered depression my whole life too, and I really remember the post college, no friends blah. I totally agree that you should seek a medical opinion. It can make a huge difference. To fill your free time consider getting involved in volunteer work of some kind . Hard to feel sorry for yourself when your helping…

Are you getting enough sleep? Sleep deficits get in the way of success as you've seen. If you're not sleep deprived, do something to get your heart rate up and put out some endorphins to counter act the blues. If you are depressed -- unfocused, unhappy, aimless -- think about seeing a doctor. And I second the person who…

Work on getting up earlier even if you need to take a nap with the little one. Also try making her a part of an exercise session. You might have to get a little silly, but it could be fun.

I got this info from a podcast about burning fat. The "experts" were pro body builders. They said that to burn fat you should avoid carbs at least 2 hrs before hand, otherwise it's those carbs that burn first. That belly fat is the reservoir for immediate energy, so it can go first if you time it right. Now I can't time my…
