Taking small steps, like posting here, is the way to work out of that slump. What is some other small thing you can do for your health today?

I have lost 50 pounds in a program that uses only hunger and enough. There are hundreds of others in the program who have had success long term. No problem with metabolism. Most people have messed up perceptions of hunger because they have been trained to eat for so many other reasons. Some people who have spent years…

It’s the perfect time to get focused on health. I’m 54 and doing the best for myself that I have in many years! You can do this!
-
Definitely focus on the progress and accomplishments! One step at a time, not the whole race. It’s beautiful that you have your creative endeavors to focus on! That’s a place where I struggle.

Great start!

I think you need to discuss diet and exercise with your doctor. I would also recommend getting some educational material recommended by the doctor.

Enjoying the journey is a fantastic goal and a sustainable mindset. It doesn't have to be painful, but unfortunately we've been socialized to feel so much shame over weight and eating.

Great progress! Great perspective!

One way to think about this is that you are similar to a majority of people. You have trouble in the evenings. It’s very normal and it’s an issue that you would need to address eventually. You can make improvements and it is important to see that you have power not the medication. You can set up environmental triggers to…

54 next month. Sorry you feel unsupported at home :(

What's on your mind today? :)

Good vibes for your journey!

The key is to take the actions we need and not wait around to feel motivated! Great work.

I will be 54 in March :) Working on my health above all else and always try to be a positive voice. Glad to be added if you like.

It is hard to focus when you’re in pain. The fact that you have logged in and put your intentions into the world is a fantastic step in the right direction. A good thought, if you want it, is that you can really start feeling better and healthier with food choices and water even when your mobility is limited. I hope you…

It is difficult to unwind all the diet mentality we’ve absorbed, but we have a lot more wisdom about who we want to be at least.

Sounds like you are getting into a good groove! I think evening snacking/overeating is the number 1 most common issue at least with women. I’m working on figuring out what it is I really want that I am misguidedly “feeding” with food. Often it’s wanting special-ness and I have to find other ways to generate that feeling.

Congratulations on your progress! But I’m going to give you the credit for finding the right tool and following through!

So how’s it going nashboots5?

This is the place, then. What’s up?

Really look at the thoughts you generated in that obsessive phase and practice answering them with reason. You already have one or two thoughts to practice - Old thought,: You have to be thin to be happy and successful. New thought, "I am happy and successful now." Old thought, "Doing this obsessively will make us happy."…

Not a solution, but you might gain some insight from this book The DBT Solution for Emotional Eating: A Proven Program to Break the Cycle of Bingeing and Out-of-Control Eating by Debra L. Safer (Author), Sarah Adler (Author), Philip C. Masson (Author) With the level of feeling out of control you describe, I do think…

Well, I think your intentions are wonderful and right on target for success and meaningful change :)

So, I see walking dogs and walking to get Pizza, and with some tweaks laundry and kid time could get more vigorous and excercisey. Other comments are correct, exercise isn't necessary. I've lost 50 lbs and kept it off with no regular exercise beyond normal daily activity. The game changer was learning to eat when I'm…

Consider that the way you are thinking about making change is an issue. If your thoughts are negative and restrictive, your less likely to do the actions. If your thinking about all the unpleasant restriction you will have to endure, if you're thinking about all the things you enjoy that you can never have, if you're…

Hey! Wondering how you are doing?

Most people have had this experience. It's very normal. Here's one way to look at things, you make think trying again is hard and uncomfortable, but you are already miserable, so taking any action in the right direction won't make you feel worse; it can only make you feel better. Don't try to go about getting into a rhythm…

If you're sure the drinking is the issue, maybe try to cut back a little each day. Same with food, cut back a bite or two at each meal. The brain resists change so making them a tiny bit at a time keeps it from freaking out.

I keep in mind that I can't wait to feel motivated. Our brains would just rather not expend energy needlessly, so I have to go and do my activity anyway. I set small goals and find ways to make any little progress feel like VICTORY. I'm currently trying out new yoga studios on a New Member plan, so I can go to as many…
