  • I am very fond of my student vegetarian cookbook, receipes using seasonal vegetables, lentils and beans. Not many ingredients, and not lengthy cooking times. Since money became tight i have come to rely on them more and more, they dont have the calory count but with few ingredients are easy to put into the receipe thingy…
  • I something about that the other day and was lucky to find that my local store was selling the organic pb at a very reduced price as it isnt a brand that sells well ...i bought 5 jars for my store cupboard because of the prices going up. I think quite a few other things are supposed to be goign up because of poor crops
  • When i was at uni i used to make porridge in a wide necked flask overnight. I think you heated the liquid and added it to the oats in the flask and by morning it was done and ready to grab as you went out the door.

  • I would be happy with 18lbs in 2 1/2 months. I have lost 15lbs and been doing this since the start of July. It isnt about the speed with whcih you loose the weight though it is about gettign there and keeping it off when you reach your goal so i figure the slower i am shifting it the better it will be.
  • I would say so. I had to buy more socks the other day i never wear them, my familly used to say it must be cold today Rachel is wearing socks! Now i seem to need them all the time! Congrats on your loss and needing a coat

  • My favourite is Daal which i make with red lentils, it is very filling and full of fibre and protein, i could eat it at least a couple of times a week and it is so cheap. Nobody else likes it in my house so it is my special treat.

  • Oh thanks for posting that, my 5 year old picked up a packet of pearl barley the other day at the supermarket and i have been looking for a receipe to use it and this one sounds yum.
  • Provolone is quite a soft cheese, my cook book recommends Mozzarella as a substitute over smoked cheese.
  • Lentils and beans are both cheap and can be added to a lot of meals to make them more filling, making the more expensive ingredients go further. I add them to all my vegetable soups and they make them more filling without adding bad calories. Also if you like spicy foods try Daal quite simple to make, and as it is lentil…
  • I will just second the huge quantities of water. Having had a chinese meal last night, and i was careful to avoid all the deep fried stuff, i am 3lbs heavier today and i feel very sluggish.
  • My son has some food allergies as well as being vegetarian (which sometimes causes problems as not everybody knows about gelatine etc being unsuitable) If i was in a situation like that i know i would prefer to provide a snack for him every week to make sure he was safe, and also be happy to provide a snack on my…
  • My little boy was very underweight at one point, he has had some real issues with food and the dr advised me to give him lots of whole milk to drink and add small amounts of cream to some meals, ie/ i made soup for the whole familly and i added cream to his portion. It isnt a lot at a time but small and often should help…
  • We had veggie sausages, mash (small portion for me) and braised red cabbage which was gorgeous with the sausages
  • Thats good enough for me, think i will give them a try this week
  • I stir half a tbsp of nutella or other chocolate spread into my porridge in the morning with a handful of chopped nuts for a chocolate fix. Otherwise the tiny bags of chocolate buttons are good (the multipack ones)
  • This happens to me on a regular basis, do not dispare, i always reach for the tape measure and discover i have lost that way instead. Also i find a few weeks not loosing is followed by a week when i loose at least 2lbs, i dont do anything differently it just happens!
  • Wow great job and with PCOS as well that is great, i might just be a tiny bit jealous! I have lost 13lbs in 100 days with my PCOS!
  • I have been adding 1 squashed over ripe banana, a few chopped nuts and a sprinkle of cinnamon to my porridge in the morning and it is heaven, only problem is i have run out of bananas now!
  • I hear you on the PCOS front, i am loosing but it is such an uphill struggle. I have been doing this for 100 days now and have lost 13lbs, eating properly and doign loads of excercise. You can do this, you have done it before (as have I) and we can both do it again. If you would like a friend who understands the PCOS…
  • I has oatmeal with 6 chopped almonds and 1 squashed banana in it this morning and i stayed very full until lunchtime. I love adding fruit to oatmeal
  • A mature cheddar and mango chutney sandwich on wholemeal bread. About 250 calories and it was delicious!
  • Red cooked tofu with stir fried veggies and a small portion of noodles and if i have the calories left one of the banana muffins my 3 year old made this afternoon!
  • We have ours either on a salad with tomatoes and mozarella, drizzled with balsamic vinegar, or made into guacamole or mashed up on granary toast with lemon juice and pepper on the top.
  • I always makes soup from the odds and ends of veg in the fridge, no 2 receipes are the same, then i add lentils or beans to it to make it really hearty or if for some reason i am out of those pasta of small pieces of spaghetti. I also love creating receipes out of the leftovers in the fridge!
