  • Hi all! I'm due with my first baby on Oct. 31, which is essentially November. I was eating a mostly pescetarian diet during my first and second trimesters, but my most recent blood test came back that I'm pretty severely anemic. Anyone else eating organ meat (liver, etc.) during pregnancy?
  • I found that it was easier to cut the sugar from my coffee first, and then gradually cut down on the creamer. I eventually switched to skim milk in my coffee, because black coffee is hard on my stomach. Now half & half feels like a real treat! I've found that a tsp of honey in coffee is pretty good. Also, some of the…
  • It's totally superficial, but my ah-ha moment was when I was the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding. Instead of actually celebrating with her, I was more concerned about being the fat bridesmaid, and ruining her photos.
  • Agreed! I hear "You look SO great." and I always think in my head "Thanks for the reminder that I looked awful before, and for only valuing me on my appearance." Sometimes the positive comments, regardless of the intent behind them, can make me feel just as insecure about my body. Maybe it's just me, but it's weird that…
  • I believe in eating a variety of fruits and veggies and trying new foods. The CSA box has definitely been an important part of my weight loss journey. My fiance has lost weight (without even trying) since we've been getting our bin and eating more fresh and organic produce. Ours always comes with recipes (some good, some…
  • This thread is great for a laugh. 1) My dog now believes he is entitled to an hour long walk each day and a hike on Saturdays. 2) I have less time to tool around the internet because I'm too busy exercising. When I do log onto the internet, it's to log calories or browse MFP forums. 3) I get weird looks when I bring…
  • Agreed. Costco Muffins. They're fairly large, but are 650+ calories each! One time I ate 1/2 a Poppyseed muffin at a morning meeting and realized when it was too late. "Well, there go ALL my breakfast calories."
  • I think it's fantastic that you want to learn about nutrition, but there's no one size fits all answer. There are a lot people on the internet with opinions. Some people have opinions that are grounded in facts. Some people will share opinions that only work in certain instances. I believe in taking most advice with a…
  • Sorry, I should have specified. I got 9 fritters out of the mixture.
  • These sound great! I've seen so many variations of Quinoa Fritters. They're addicting, and usually pretty good for you. I made some, that I baked instead of fried. My recipe is here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/502366-tuna-qunioa-fritters
  • New Elliptical Update: I have to share it somewhere. I have successfully DOUBLED my time on the elliptical. Yesterday, I logged 6 miles in 60 minutes on the elliptical. I'm SO very proud of myself.
  • I too had a craving for eggs benny this morning... I searched for a bunch of different recipes online, and combined aspects that sounded good/healthy from each. Kindof winged it, but it was AMAZING. 1 C. Nonfat milk 1/2 C. Plain yogurt (I used greek yogurt) 3 Egg yolks 1 Tbl lemon juice 1 tbl butter 1 tsp dijon mustard 1/2…
  • I had the same conundrum this morning... instead of trying to save the other half, I just ate it. It was delicious and totally worth it. I rationalized it in my head by saying calories/fats in an avocado are better for you than a lot of alternatives.
  • I thought I was being original with the Laughing Cow wedge added to my tuna - until I searched the forum for no-mayo tuna recipes. The light Laughing Cow wedges are only 35 calories. I also tend to skip the bread with my tuna, and instead go for something like lettuce leaves or rye crackers. Greek yogurt is also a…
  • Just thought I'd post on this thread again - a quick elliptical update. Today I ran 5.1 miles in 50 minutes - felt incredible.
  • I typically choose tea instead of coffee - BUT My S/O drinks coffee pretty regularly. We invested in a bean grinder and a french press - it's a little more work in the mornings, but makes a world of a difference in the taste. In terms of sweetening, I typically use 1/2 tbsp of honey and 1/4 cup of non-fat milk. It sounds…
  • I wasn't able to at first... the first couple times I got a little dizzy. It definitely took a little practice. Thanks for the positive words everyone!
  • My coffee-stand progression over the past couple years (THEN to NOW) Grande Vanilla Latte (250+ Cal) Grande non-fat vanilla latte (200 Cal) Grande non-fat 2 pump vanilla latte (150 cal) Double tall non-fat 1 pump vanilla latte (125 cal) Double tall non-fat no syrup latte (100 cal) The milk in lattes is one of the only ways…
  • I plan to make some of my own food dishes to share with my family (at least there will be some healthy options available for me, and I won't have to question every ingredient in everything). Thanksgiving is usually rough for anyway, as I'm the only one in my family who doesn't eat meat. I plan on loading up on clean foods…
  • I find that a lot of people ignore the cold - after all it doesn't get all that cold here compared to other places. Just wet. This year I might invest in some rain boots that have a good tread on them for mild hikes in the wet weather. Our YMCA doesn't have a track, but the one in Everett has an awesome indoor track!
  • I'm going to go with everything on this list (minus Spam, because I find canned meats repulsive). oh, and also Cheese Quesadillas.
  • I too have found pescetarian to be a healthy diet. Eating seafood is a great way to get protein and other vital nutrients.
  • You're definitely note alone in this.
  • Hi! I live in Bellingham, a few minutes south of the Canadian Boarder. I love everything about the Pacific Northwest.
  • I too have been struggling with my desk job. I like the idea of snacking ALL day. I have a snack drawer in my desk, usually filled with pre-measured snacks (which makes it easier to log). I drink TEA all day, (nice boost of caffeine for my workday). Part of my dilemma is that mindless snacking helps me focus on my work…
  • I've been a pescatarian for 10 years (I eat eggs, dairy and seafood but no other meats). My diary is open to friends - feel free to add me, but ignore the past weekend, as it was my anniversary and I went a little out of control.
  • I used to be a coffee drinker - and somehow convinced myself that tea was a healthier choice (hooray for zero calories!). Now I drink tea exclusively. I love all different varieties of tea but my favorite lately has been jasmine green. Here are two of tea-related questions - for all you tea connoisseurs: 1) Does anyone…
  • I made it a habit to budget in calories for night snacking. I'm a total night owl, and I tried for months to not snack late in the evenings, and was disappointed in myself when I caved every time. I found myself saying "ok, tonight, I'm NOT going to eat past 9pm"... and every night around 9:30 or 10pm I'd head straight for…
  • I'm glad I stumbled on this post, because I've been wondering the same thing. I usually count tea when I log water - but not juice, coffee, or alcohol. For whatever reason, tea, in my mind is healthier than coffee... so I make a conscious effort to choose to drink it before other drinks. I always drink a glass of water…
