Hi, I have been a member of MFP since july, 2011. I only found this group through a friend who is a member here. I am 57, single since 2009. After several life issues including the divorce I had become very reclusive. My self image was so low. But MFP has been a real positive in my life. I want more positive things now.…

Tried it many years ago. I easily lost 50 lbs and developed Gout. My Dr. told me it was directly linked to the high protein diet and had me get off it. Unfortunately, once you have gout. It is there forever. If you do decide to go that route, a lot of suppliments could help avoid my outcome. Careful research with a medical…

thanks Metal_Viking, I always look for more info. When the Dr. went over the report with me today, he said it should be 5.0 or less. I will ask him to go over it with me at next weeks visit.

Another thing that causes weight fluxuation is sodium. On the days my sodium is higher, I can see a weigh gain the very next day. It is also the hardest number to keep low, because processed foods are so High in sodium. Most people don't have the time to prepare fresh food every meal. Life gets in the way. just a thought.

Even if I do leg lifts while sitting in my recliner....the next day I can hardly walk. I still want to try the swimming pool when I get the chance. Hoss, you are right.....getting old sucks.

I hear that Hoss...it seems like when I finally get used to the changes I have had to make, then something else pops up. Dealing with stress and health is never easy but I am thankful to have good support (both here and with family)

Welcome and good luck first of all. I feel that lots and lots of water are more helpful than you may think, also stay away from as much processed foods and fast foods as possible. The Soduim in these will surprise you. Take it in steps to get to where you want to be at on a calorie level.....trying to do it from day one is…
