  • I've heard Unicity is a company that offers supplements and products to help you lose weight. I think the above poster is saying he lost 7 lbs his first week on Unicity. I lost 8 lbs my first week on MFP eating my regular diet just in smaller portions. LOVE MFP
  • Honestly since I have the app on my phone there's no forgetting. I guess if I really did have issues with that I'd set the phone alarm to remind myself.
  • Welcome! I too came here needing to lose 100 lbs (and my child is 25 so I hear you on the baby weight). I have been logging my food here for a year (a year today actually!) and I'm down 62 lbs. Logging in your food intake gives such great accountability and it's really quite eye opening to see how much some foods "cost" in…
  • The Christmas Shoes one
  • Oh also I add the restaurant meals I like and have gotten the nutritional info for into MFP under "my meals" so I can just pop over and pick that meal and I don't have to add each item separately. Once of our fave places is a little diner which has no nutritional info listed but it's fairly simple to break it down. I love…
  • We eat out about three times a week. We tend to rotate between the same 2-3 places so I've developed an eating plan for each place. I've found too that most places are willing to juggle things a bit for you. I LOVE french fries, love, love, love them. However, I have no "off switch" when it comes to french fries and will…
  • I confess I've only read the first page. I'm glad you've found something that works for you. That's half the battle right there. I've found for me the "secret" to losing weight is three meals a day, two snacks, lots of water and exercise. I'm down 70+ lbs in 10 months so I think I'll stick with what works for me.
  • Like anything in life if you want it badly enough you'll make it happen so it's really up to you.
  • I'm glad you've found something that works for you. I've done my research too as you suggested and spoken with my physician. I'm going to stick with eating foods from all the food groups and just eat a little less of them. The weight is coming off and I have no restrictions with what I can eat. Works for me!
  • I think I'd like to join this too (after I read the final rules!) :) Thanks for setting this up!
  • Fitbit One for the same reasons as the other poster..it's small, clips right to my bra and I don't have to think about it. Also once you buy it there are no additional costs associated with it which is nice. Since I got mine several friends / family members have gotten them as well and we have a friendly competition to see…
  • Yes I do, every bite.
  • The only way I was able to see my weight loss was by taking the "before" picture and putting it next to a current picture. That was the first time I was able to see any difference. I've been taking my measurements and my clothing sizes have gone down considerably so logically I know I'm smaller but it was hard to see…
  • The only one I worry about is me and how I handle stress, emotions, celebrations, PMS etc. I have my own successful system up and running and that's all that matters. I don't give any thought to how other posters handle their situations.
  • Welcome!
  • I have the Fitbit One and LOVE it. I agree with whomever it was that said she wears it 24/7 except for shower time. So very helpful and motivational to keep me moving.
  • I got mine from Amazon. Never thought of GNC although there is one not too far from me. Will have to check there next time to save on shipping cost.

  • I've never heard of Orlistat but I have heard of Alli. No, I've never used it. I have lost 48.6 lbs since December with 1500 calories a day and keeping my carbs between 150 and 210. I am the carb queen so it's not low carb by any stretch of the imagination but for me that's low. LOL! I could easily eat all my meals in…
  • I just had oatmeal this morning. My store brand says "1/2 cup (40 grams) dry" is a serving size so I measured out 40 grams and cooked it from there. That was 150 calories. I weigh or use a measuring cup to measure everything because I do not guess well with my eyes. If we're out or eating at someone else's house I have to…
  • I weigh in every morning. I like to see the daily fluctuations and after a while I could see a pattern emerge with how my body processes food / exercise (and how it all relates to varying stress levels etc). However, the only weight that I count is the Friday weight. That's my official weigh in day and that's the one I use…
  • Eat slower. That helps me a lot. Plus I realize I'm full a lot quicker than when I wolf my food down. Another thing is when I'm done my portion I toss my napkin over my plate. It's a visual reminder if I start to head for seconds that I've already had my allotted amount so that tends to stop me in my tracks. Otherwise it…
  • Everything but condiments. I just can't get too worked up about logging my ketchup. I probably should but I don't. If it seems like my losses are affected I would though but right now it's not an issue so I let it go.
  • I love my Fitbit One!! My main purpose for getting it was I needed something to motivate me to go a little further each and every day. I have a desk job and find that wearing the Fitbit means I pay more attention to my movements and push myself to do more because I love to see those steps add up. I have it synced with MFP…
  • Potato chips will take me down in a heartbeat
  • Absolutely!! I weigh everything that I eat at home. I have this scale http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=17290339. Cost me 30.00 at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I like that the display piece pulls out so if you put a large plate on it to measure you can still see the display (my old one the plate would overshadow the…
  • I record every Friday's weight, first # that comes up when I step on the scale is the one. I do WI daily and keep track of it on an app on my phone just for my own personal info but the only one that "counts" and gets entered here is the Friday morning one.
  • Potato chips. Doesn't matter when it's a 1 oz packet or an 8 oz bag it's all one serving to me.
  • There was just a thread about that this morning in the "General Diet and Weight Loss Help" section. Check it out!
  • For dedicated exercise (like C25K) I'd go with the heart rate monitor for calorie burn. I use Fitbit more to remind me to move during the day (I have a desk job) and I do like that it keeps track of calories burned but with dedicated exercise I think I get more accurate results from the HRM. The HRM is tied into my heart…

  • Another "yay" vote for FitBit. I have the FitBit One and my DD has the zip. It does NOT have a heart rate monitor feature. It does count calories although it doesn't break those down by workout. it just continuously counts while you're wearing it. If you wanted a breakdown by exercise you'd have to see how many calories…
