Serving sizes on oats! ????

Hi everybody!
I'm just pondering on that fact that maybe , maybe not my oat serving sizes aren't correct for the calorie count? Apparently 30g of oats has 116 calories, and I often see people using 30g oats for their breakfasts, but when I get out an old scale, it shows 30g of oats being hardly nothing, and I'm worried maybe I eat too much. Does anyone know what a serving size of oats is and the calorie count, and if there is another way to measure it other than my dogy scale!? Tablespoons maybe?!
Thanks all ! I'm just too big a oatmeal fan ????

A food scale would be the most accurate way to measure it, honestly.0

I measure my oats dry and 30 grams would not be enough for me (but I'm kind of a volume eater). I use a serving size of 57 grams (approximately 1/2 of a cup dry), which for the brand I use is about 220 calories, but it fills me up and I really enjoy it.0

I have 30g but once it has been boiled with the water it grows to a nice big enough bowl! Maybe you could get some new scales. before I got accurate ones down to last gram my weights were all over the place0

My oatmeal tub says 1/2 cup serving size is 140 calories. I usually use 1/4 cup, using a measuring cup. The nutrition label is pretty accurate for the most part - more than good enough for weight loss purposes.0

on my walmart brand rolled oats- the old fashioned oats, it has 1/2 cup as a serving size = 150 calories, this is if it's measured dry. I don't have a food scale, but completely share your sentiment. I eat a minimum of 1 cup or 300 calories plus the toppings.
More often, I'll have 1.5 cups. But anyway, if you need a smaller serving size of oats it helps to eat flax seed with it.
use the ground flax seed, unground it will pass through undigested. the suggested serving size of flax seed is 2 tablespoons and has 4 extra grams of fiber- 2 soluble, 2 unsoluble, making the breakfast more filling.0 -
I just had oatmeal this morning. My store brand says "1/2 cup (40 grams) dry" is a serving size so I measured out 40 grams and cooked it from there. That was 150 calories.
I weigh or use a measuring cup to measure everything because I do not guess well with my eyes. If we're out or eating at someone else's house I have to wing it but at home I'm queen of the measuring cup / scale.0
