This post inspired me to start weight lifting. I am now on week 3, and today I added 5 lbs. to my bench press. I was always intimitaded, as so many women have mentioned, but my brother was kind enough to take me to his gym and show me the ropes. However the first day I got to my gym, the machines were different and I…

Hey everybody, congratulations on your graduation!!! =0) I only ran one day this week. =( But I am not giving up hope, just going to need to take it slow in the next couple of weeks. Although I have not been running, I have been doing other exercises, like step or Zumba. The reason for that is that when I do have the time…

Great job!!! And look at all of the great places you've been too! =0)

Today I ran for distance, instead of time, and I completed a full 2 miles. Best of all, it was just a tad over the 28 minutes alotted to us in week 8. Happy Thanksgiving indeed!!!

I've looked at it yes but (and you're going to think this is silly/vain) I'd like a number on my shirt and a medal at the end. I'm proud of how far I've come, and want to celebrate it properly. Nice thought though :) [/quote] Russell, I don't think that's silly or vain at all. I feel the same way. No matter what my time is…

Well, friends, today I took my run to the treadmill. It wasn't bad!!! I had the workout room all to myself at work, it was nice and quiet. I actually found treadmill running very challenging, although my heart rate was lower than outdoors. What I liked the best is that I could track my speed, which is hard to do outside. I…

I dont' find that silly, especially for your first 5K!

Well, I am happy to announce that I think I have found a solution to my problem. Turns out my new job has a fitness center right on the premises. It's nothing fancy, but it has treadmills. I was told that the treadmills are okay for walking on, but not running. Needing to find out for myself I took a little trip down there…

I have only done 1 day of week 7. =( The new job and school are taking up most of my time. I will do day 2 on Saturday and then take it from there. I know you're not supposed to do this program two days in a row, but let me ask you this... it's not like we're super novices, right? We've been at this for 7 weeks. I know…

Russell - your scenery while running sounds magical! I bet it makes the runs so much more interesting. Question for you - when you say you get up 'with the Lark' how early is that? 5 a.m.? Is it still dark out? Nana - I noticed that my heart rate was a bit lower this week too! I was happy about that because it was always…

Well, today I started my new job. I did not have to be in until 8:30 (it will be 8 from now on). I woke up at 6. The plan was that I was going to take the dogs out really quicky and then hit the gym to run on the treadmill. However, as I was getting ready i could see that the night was starting to turn to dawn. "hmmm" i…

Here's hoping for a good Tuesday!

Not only that but she has CLEARLY has had plastic surgery. I saw this magazine today at the store. Look at her belly button. It has that odd thing going on that only happens after a tummy tuck. When they cut off excess skin most of the time the old belly button goes too, and then the doctors have to re-create it. the new…

Oh Oh Oh, forgot THE best part: HRM says I burned 450 cals. Yee-haw!!!

Well, kids, I can put week 6 in the bag. Yay!!! It was a hard run today. I shall break it down into the bad and good. Let's get the bad out of the way first: -I had lead legs. Seriously, for like the first 10 minutes my legs were barely getting off the ground. -My left knee hurt. This knee bothers me on and off but this is…

I am so proud of you!!!! Your run days are one day prior to mine and you are always an inspiration!!!

Way to go, this is fantastic!!!! You are blowing us all out of the water, here! Good luck on your job interviews! =0)

Different strokes for different folks, man. I can't speak for anyone else, but I like having that sort of regiment. I like knowing that today I am going to run for 10,15,20... whatever... minutes. Keep in mind, most of us here are not runners. This is not something that comes naturally to me. I think that is part of the…

Yes, the hair and make up are tricky, since I sweat A LOT. It's funny how I took the gym at my other job for granted. Since I was with the other company for well over a decade I had an understanding with the boss (who was a gym junkie) that I could exercise at lunch, take the time to shower and if I ran over the hour I…

W6D2 done and done!!! Crappy weather outside, was drizzling the whole time and windy. Got wet though and though. But done and done and I am happy for that!!!

Oh man... In February I was laid off when my company merged with another and all of our jobs were eliminated. Today I got a job offer and I accepted (YAY!!!)... but now I'm thinking of how I am going to fit my running in... The last 6 weeks I do it during the day, around 10 a.m., outside. My job will be 8-5. It doesn't get…

I don't think so, you're still doing it. Maybe do the variable incline option or something, to get more of an outdoors simulation. I have heard others say that when training on the treadmill they really noticed the difference when going to run outside... in that it was harder outside. But as long as you're doing it I don't…

Completed day 1 today. I love how I'm not stressing out about the intervals anymore. I the beginning I would worry so much about the 3 or 5 minute runs. Today, armed with the knowledge that I ran 20 minutes last week, running 18 minutes (broken down into intervals, to boot) was not nerve wrecking at all! My last run was…

Everyone, I'd like to also point out that we are more than half way done with our program! Very nice!!!

Did anyone actually measure the distance that they ran in their 20 minutes? I just mapped mine and it was 1.3 miles! HA HA HA!!! I have officially ran my first mile!!! I doubt at the end of this program I'll be close to running a 5K, but once I'm able to run for 30 minutes straight I'll work on improving my speed.

Can I get a WOOT WOOT!!! I did it! I completed day 3 of week 5! It was not too bad at all! The weather today is chilly but sunny. Perfect weather for running. I just ran around the neighborhood and amazed myself that I was able to run the route I usually walk my dogs on. Just last week I was hoping I would make it around…
