Agree! It really is that simple, we make it harder than it has to be. A few yrs ago I lost 20 lbs (have since gained back) but people asked me if I was on a special diet and I said "yes the old fashioned one of eating right and exercising"

I sometimes add a bit of olive oil, water and a packet of dry Italian Dressing

I live in Unionville, Il...5 miles from Brookport...small world! I work in Paducah, Ky

I was doing pretty good until vacation....for some reason I'm finding it hard to get back on track. I'm not eating a bunch of crap, but just the thought of measuring/monitoring every dam bite drives me nuts, but I also know this is the ONLY way I lose wt. I exercise faithfully, I love working out, I just HATE counting.

I think it depends...my husband is 64 yrs old and I can guarentee you many could not be able to keep up with him and his "daily routine chores". He's a farmer, does manual labor every day, no way in hell he isn't burning lots of calories every dam day. Hauling hay, digging fence posts by hand, carrying 20+ 5 gallon buckets…

Congrats!!!!

Yes...I lost 11 lb in about 5 weeks a few yrs ago by not tracking, but I had a "list" of meals on the fridge to go by for a week with about 3 different examples for each meal (I hired fitness pro). I'm guessing each meal was around 1500 calories. Bottom line, I firmly believe calories matter and should be adjusted based on…

50 lbs is awsome! If you don't think so, pick up a 50 lb bag of potting soil, dog food, or something and carry it. Gives you a much better idea of how much you've accomplished. ETA: didn't realize someone else made a similar suggestion

Where is everyone? My scale is moving the wrong way! WTH???? I haven't been taking the time to keep food prepped for the week.
-
Same here, was on vacation last week and although I ate pretty healthy, we (my sisters and I) drank a LOT of beer! Gained a few lbs, but I refuse to be upset about it. We had a GREAT time and I'm back on track.

GREAT JOB!!! I really don't think there is a "secret", just good ol common sense. Eat food as close to its natural state as possible, and MOVE every day

Make that 2 lbs as of this morning. I weighed because I felt very bloated when I got up this morning and was suprised to see I'd lost another lb...weird I'm going on vacation starting Friday evening of this week. I'm not really worried about wt gain, my sisters and I all eat pretty healthy and we exercise during vacation.

Down 1 lb so far this week....I know its fluid but I'll take it!

1)Better planning. I was just thinking yesterday, I spend too much time "running errands" during my lunch hr at work, then often stop by the grocery after work and end up not getting half the stuff I need cuz I left my "list" on the fridge door! I need to plan my meals more in advance. I buy a bunch of produce and it goes…

June goal, lose 10 lbs, log EVERYTHING! If I don't log I eventually eat too many calories.

Body type bashing is the main reason I quit visiting so called "fitness" websites. I'm saddened/disturbed by some of the nasty comments made by (mostly) women about other womens bodies. I just don't get that.....why do some people feel the need to bash others? It makes no sense to me. We all have our personal preference of…

I'd like to join again...until last week its been awhile since I've been on MFP. I've GOT to log food, simple as that. I have a desk job, so I don't burn many calories even though I'm consistant with exercise. I'm 51 yrs old, need to lose at least 40 lb. I'll check back in later with more info.

Hi everyone, I'm 51 yrs old, 5'5, 177 (my highest wt was 185) but I've been "stuck" at 175-178 for a long time. My fault I know, I just haven't really buckled down with the diet. I have a desk job, but I am consistant with exercise (wt training, cardio kickboxing, intervals, Hiit, walking, etc) and I love horse back riding,…

urggg...don't know if I'll ever have the nerve to post pics of what I currently look like......

I'm 5'5 177 (Highest wt 185) I weighed 116 when I got married 26 yrs ago! Not looking to be at 116 again. I keep gaining/losing 6-7 lbs. Got down to 168 last fall by really monitoring my food portions and eating whole/real food....need to get back to doing that

I'm back after being away for a LONG time..I too need to lose at least 40lbs....just wish I could stay motivated. I love to exercise, but eat too dam much.

Awesome job!

This is just my own experience, but for me when drinking diet soda the scale won't budge even if I stay in my calorie allotment. I personally don't buy into all the "bad carbs vs good carbs" or the starvation mode thing. I think different types of carbs effect everyone differently. For me, getting carbs from grains causes…

Last fall I was telling my husband that "I can't believe I've lost nearly 20lbs and still wear the same size clothes" (I"ve gained some back since then) and he says "yeah but your clothes were tight as hell" say what??!?!?!? I was miffed at first, but then I realized he was right. They WERE tight, I was just looking for an…

This is me!! I was telling myself this unitl I saw a photo of me with my fit/lean sisters! I felt like crying because I DO LOOK OVERWEIGHT. I rarely look at myself full body in the mirror, by not looking this helped me keep the mindset that I didn't look overweight. Common sense tells ya you can't be 50 lbs overweight and…

I think I"d be looking for a different PT, at least a second opinion. I can't imagine how sitting in front of the TV would help stress.....did you ask WHY that was recommended? Shaking my head on this one.....
