body type bashing...

it REALLY needs to STOP. The more we work on ourselves, the less we will focus on others, especially in bashing others. Once we feel good about who we are, it stops, because we are no longer insecure in our own skin. No one needs to be me, get why I do what I do or aim for the weight/body fat percentage/shape, etc. that I'm going for - that's for me to get, but because we can't see why someone wants to be a certain weight, have a certain body fat percentage, shape, etc. does NOT make it ok to bash them. Leave them to their desires and worry about getting you to your goals.
All women are beautiful (on the outside anyway). No one body type is better overall, just to each individual.

I totally
you and get what you are saying... but...
You are totally wasting energy on this topic. There will always be someone who does this. And even if everyone on this site agreed to be good to each other, some newb would come along and bring the drama all over again.0 -
I agree. :flowerforyou:0

I agree of course. Confidence in your own body is highly attractive. Pettiness and spite are not attractive traits.0 -
In general the title of this site is "myfitnesspal" and when people post about wanting to be uber skinny model emaciated type, people get up in arms. I think because we are trying to devote our lives to healthy bodies and healthy eating habits. That being said, I do my best to avoid those threads and try not to befriend people who do not have the same outlook on "fitness" as I do.0

that is quite different than the "bigger" ladies bashing the "smaller" ladies or "fitness" ladies and vice versa. Those who are all genuinely aiming for health should encourage each other is the only point here.0 -
Not everyone wants to be skinny...ok thats all good but everyone needs to be healthy.
This website is trendy because we as Americans have weight problem. Most of us can't wait to eat, and there is ALWAYS delicious foods all around. wheather it is at an office party, get together for a friend or loved one to celebrate, some kind of Holiday which we have plenty of, or just the common fast food resturaunt on the corner.
We need sites like this to help TEACH us what our parents should have taught us about appetite control, and how to stay active. When u were a kid u were to busy outside playing, hopefully, but maybe u had a nintendo or a computer so you stayed in.
Now a days we also have our untrusting society to thank. I for one don't feel safe letting my son or daughter play outside ALL day like I use to. To many weirdo's out there that can and will hurt your child. Lets protect them by keeping them inside and feed them Soda Pop.
Take this knowledge bet healthy teach your children to be healthy forever. Then go help your neighbor.0 -

I'm so lost on this response to the topic, but agree that this site is a tool to teach us all how to eat and live a healthier lifestyle. I for one don't keep my children locked inside and feed them soda - they play outside, supervised and drink mostly water.0 -

Body type bashing is the main reason I quit visiting so called "fitness" websites. I'm saddened/disturbed by some of the nasty comments made by (mostly) women about other womens bodies. I just don't get that.....why do some people feel the need to bash others? It makes no sense to me. We all have our personal preference of what we find as the ideal body...no need to bash bodies we don't consider ideal.0

I'm the same way. I just don't understand how its anyone else's business what someone looks like or wants to look like. Why try to make them feel badly for it? We don't know where others are in their fitness journey - they could be losing or gaining to get healthy and to be bashed can be highly discouraging for many. It's hurtful, not helpful.0 -

I highly encourage my friends, and they encourage me I do little more than that. The forums are a rough place.0 -

Agreed! I don't get the response.
Anyway, OP, I totally agree. I will never be considered "skinny". I'm not 'curvy' either. But I'm very healthy, and strong, and am comfortable with MY body. I can play the sports I love. I can run long distances. I can enjoy healthy food...and cheesecake. I'm ME and live in MY body. As long as people are healthy and happy with themselves, more power to them!0 -

Maybe...I love drama as much as anyone, but I think that bashing someone else's body is too far. Of course, I've been accused of this very thing before when I was honestly not trying to, but lesson learned. Sometimes people's perception of what you say is just as important as your intent when you say it. It's a hard lesson to learn, but on the intrawebs it's all too easy to be misconstrued when words are printed without tone or context.0 -

good point! :happy:0 -
I am terribly sick of this too. I love this site and it has been enormously helpful to me but I have never seen so much judgement! I have been very close to deactivating because of this crap lately. We are all different (thank goodness) and all beautiful for our differences.
The other thing that has been bothering me are all the posts from women asking what men prefer in a woman. Are tattoos ok? what about tan lines? Do you like curvy women? skinny? muscular? No offense guys, but who cares what you prefer? Be your lovely self and there will be a man that adores every thing about it.0 -

LOVE this! And your tattoo! I'm lucky in that I have a husband who loves me no matter what weight I am, but ITA with you for women that are single and getting healthy. Men will notice your newfound confidence and self-esteem more than the size of your thighs or if your hair is perfectly blown-out.0 -

Exactly! Because, confidence is sexy!
