The weight on a nutritional label is before cooking weight, therefore you use the 400g not 225g.

It doesn't matter how you gained your weight. You need to ask him to help you with losing it. Explain your dietary needs and desires and ask him to help you stick with it. Psychology is your field. I think you know what you need to do but it is always difficult when it involves someone we love. The pent up frustration and…

This is good advice. Also, we may mindlessly nibble tasty treats when drinking at a social gathering. Beware of prezels, nuts, and various other minchies. It is easy to eat fall more than you realize... until later.

It is not unusual for your 2 hr level to be 30 or 40 above your fasting level. Therefore, 152 may not be too bad. A bigger concern is you morning numbers. However, tracking all your food and your bgl readings will help you figure out how to control those numbers. Diabetes control is not a quick fix but a lifestyle change.

MFP is great for tracking diabetes control. Changing your eating habits won't happen all at once but, as you see which foods are good and which are caloricly rich, you will make better choices. You will soon see that fast food places have nothing for you. Most "chain restaurants" have few good choices (some "appetizers"…

This is the answer! Any diet plan will, sooner or later, get old/boring/fade away. The real "trick" is to eat everything but control the portions. MFP is ideal for tracking that life style. You soon learn better ways to use your calories but still give yourself occasional treats (don't think of them as cheats). Don't look…

Did you move the scale between weighings? Sometimes, particularly on uneven floors, the placement of a scale makes a big difference. Did you already doubt your scale's accuracy? If not, why do you usually weigh twice?

Oh, I thoght she was just trying to stop a runny nose. Ewwww!

She is still allowed to breathe in... as long as it is bottle air (pure oxygen, helium/oxygen mix, etc). I am not sure what the rules are for breathing out (CARBON dioxide!). I guess she will be getting rid of it and poisoning the rest of us.

The Army is (at least currently) your job. Bulking up is a personal choice. You know what time you must achieve to pass your PT. What are the consequences of failing that time? What is the consequence of not reaching your muscle building goal in December? I think you should weigh your priorities. The answer will present…

Steamed vegetables are carbohydrates. Steaming them is usually to reduce the fat (not carbs) that you get in a stir fry or smothered in butter.
-
It sounds like you have found a method that works for you. Great! However, I have diabetes and my carb intake is extremely important. You are correct, the type of carbohydrate matters but so does the total amount. For body builders, they cycle through periods of weight gain and then muscle building. Their carb intake is…

I weigh or measure almost everything. However, you will never be able to eat enough lettuce or celery to make much difference. Any dressing, even simple oil & vinegar, should be accurately measured. Green leafy vegetables or broccoli & cauliflower can be estimated but peas, beans, and corn ("starchy" vegetable) should be…

You already have it figiured out. There is no need to "cheat" if you already accept everything in moderation. It is all about the trade-offs and exchanges. If it is a sustainable life style you will succeed. If it is a "diet" you will slip back eventually.

What sort of marketing BS is that? Which sea is in the Himalayas? I know global climate change is causing a rise in sea level but it hasn't progressed that far yet. All salt deposits are the result of dried up ancient seas but "sea salt' refers to recently dried sea water, not mined salts.

Looking at your diary for the week, you had 2 eggs & sausage for breakfast most days. When you didn't, it looks like you had another breakfast listed as Snack plus another meal. Have you tried using 1 egg with 2 egg whites? Maybe have the sausage, whith a high fiber cereal, on the days you don't have eggs. I suggest you…

I was accustomed to eating way too much daily. When I started (1830 cal) I often felt hungry. Now, almost a year later, I must sometimes remind myself to eat more. I think it is a matter of changing old (bad) habits. Hang in there, even if you at first exceed your 1200 some days.

Very good! I was recently able to wear a suade coat my wife bought for me about 35 years ago. The wife is long gone (divorced, not deceased) almost 20 years but I kept that coat. It brought back fond memories of a better time. Of course, many posting here aren't as old as our "skinny clothes".

True, fig newtons are made with white flour. The whole grain variety don't taste good - won't satisfy my sweet-tooth. I know each individual is different, and you have to learn what works for you, but I found portion control (2 cookies) works for me. For the most part I prefer eating a little real food rather than more of…

Bananas greatly affect my glucose. I can't have more than 3 or 4 inches (usually 1/3 - 1/2 banana) at a time. A tablespoon or two of peanut butter stays with me for quite a while, too.
-
Mentioning whole grain flour seems to mean you are thinking pastry to fulfill your sweet-tooth. I find that when I want something sweet some dried figs or apricots (about 20 grams - 1/2 serving) of either satisfies me. The figs tend to stay with me (raise my blood glucose) longer than the apricots do but are tastier to me…

I tend to weigh myself every 3 or 4 days. I am not disciplined enough to remember to weigh myself daily. My weigh does vary, up and down (and it can make some people crazy to see the daily fluctuation), but the overall trend is downward. My feeling is if I picked a particular day of the week, I would get a misleading…

BIG BUTT! I don't want a woman who looks like an adolescent boy.

Any form of motivation is good motivation. However, I hope you are not setting yourself up for disappointment. The "can't keep our hands off each other" phase does fade with time. As long as you both still want to be with each other all the time, your relationship is normal. If you sucessfully lose the amount you wish and…

I think this really sums it up. They weren't looking to meet anyone, they took time to get to know each other (email, phone) long before meeting face-to-face. She took the proper precautions, having him checked out. I met my love online through a different forum (long before our MFP days). It was much the same, months of…

Welcome to MFP. It sounds like you are already off to a good start! There is a lot of discussion on this site about exercise & calories. The site's calculator seems to over estimate the calories you burn when you enter your exercise daily. However, when you are starting out, and enter your weight, goal weight, and activity…

My favorite performer is Van Morrison (probably from his "Band & Steet Choir" days. Never could tolerate CCR - John Fogerty did us all a favor when he took a decade or more off.
