Me, too -- I'm so loving the lack of hunger. I have normal hunger now, not what I used to have before I started eating clean, when all I thought about was food! It was like I could never eat enough because my body wasn't getting the nutrients it needed. For the first time in my life, I feel satisfied when I eat.…

Sounds like a perfect amount of exercise to me! As long as you feel good and don't feel like you're overdoing it, keep doing it!

Hi, molson girl. I don't know enough about diabetic diets to say. Are you talking type 1 or type 2? Personally, I think it would be perfect for diabetics because it cuts out sugar and processed carbs, which cause blood sugar to spike, and adds proteins and healthy fats, which help to level out blood sugar. I'm not a doctor…

Hi, elli. I was a vegetarian for 5 years, until recently. That was exactly what brought me back to eating meat. I didn't want to eat processed soy anymore. Some soy is good for you -- the fermented kind like tempeh and miso. The rest I group with processed food and I avoid it. I still do eat regular tofu and soy…

Hi, Moma_Do! I knew about clean eating for a year before I felt ready to try it. I thought I'd never be able to eat like this. What finally motivated me was that I was looking for a diet that cut out sugar. I was always a sugar junkie. I loved candy and anything sweet! But I got tired of not being able to control myself…

Clean eating is always a work in progress. You don't have to do it perfectly unless you're particularly driven to do so. (Some people are.) Getting the sugar and simple carbs out of my diet are what I'm the most driven about, but you may have different reasons for eating this way. I like full-fat half-and-half in…

Hey, everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I'm just trying to work my way back into an exercise and diet routine that doesn't burn me out. This past week I've been working out every other day, working back up slowly to every day. I haven't lost much strength, but I do get more sore when I work out now,…

Hi, barbiecat. Evaporated cane juice is just another code word for sugar. It may be a little less processed than table sugar, and therefore a smidgen better, but it's still sugar. I stay away from it.

I know - nothing at all beats running!!!!  Thank god I've been able to find a couple other things to do to keep in shape, but nothing quite measures up! It makes me appreciate it even more when I do manage to get a little running in, since I've struggled with it so much for over a year. My gym does not have a…

Hey, everybody. I worked out today. Yay! I did chest, shoulders, triceps, and abs, and then I ran just over a mile on the TM (trying to work back into running slowly). The irony of not working out for almost three weeks and not counting calories is that I've lost weight. :noway: So I'm just going to keep going with…

Wow, there's so much to respond to here, and it's 10:30 pm and I need to get to sleep! I want to make it to the gym in the morning. Today was another day with no workout because my daughter had a terrible migraine when she woke up and I had to take care of her. I haven't been keeping track of my meals, so I don't remember…

A good day, and it's about time! I worked out! I did an hour on the elliptical. I went to the gym saying I was going to take it easy and only do as much as I felt up to doing, but by the second half hour I was feeling great and I wanted to keep going. I think I'm back! I'm wondering if I just had a really…

I've always liked big portions, too, and with clean eating, you can still have them. Load up on greens and vegetables and other low-calorie, high-nutrient foods. It's much less of a problem for me now that I eat every two or three hours, instead of trying to wait between three main meals. If I know I'll be eating again…

It doesn't take long for clean eating to feel like a habit that you "can't" -- or don't want to -- break! If you fall back into old habits, you quickly realize how bad they make you feel. For me, the old habits aren't worth the convenience or taste, or whatever I used to find attractive about them, anymore. Most of us slip…

Hey, it's another clean eater out there! Hi, Dave. I wish more people would treat food like fuel, rather than entertainment! It does make a huge difference in the way you feel. Welcome!

Hey, everybody. I'm still here, and still eating clean. I know I'm a little scarce lately. I just don't want to muddy up the thread with my struggles. I want to keep things mostly positive and supportive, and if I don't feel like I can do that, I'd rather not say anything. But I'm around, and I'm hoping the coming…

What is clean eating? In a nutshell, eating clean is the practice of eating whole, natural foods. These include fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. It also means staying away from the junk that typically makes up the Standard American Diet (SAD). These types of foods include man-made sugar, bad…

Thanks. I'm still here, but I'm not feeling very inspirational lately! I love rock climbing. We go a couple times a year, but it's expensive to do it a lot. I could use a new sport, I just don't know what. What is as cheap and convenient as running? I think if I could run without problem, I'd be happy no matter what.…

Many professional body builders only work each muscle group once per week. You should work your muscles at least two or three times a week in the beginning -- once a week is good for maintaining. What you were told was totally false. You do need to let your muscles heal. That's when they build -- between exercise sessions,…

You don't sound stupid. You can gain muscle weight. A pound of muscle does way the same as a pound of fat (a pound, of course  ), but the muscle will take up less space. So a cubic inch of muscle will weigh more than a cubic inch of fat, and it will look much nicer on you, too. Does that make sense?…

You are so right -- "burned out" is exactly where I am. Suddenly exercise just isn't fun anymore. I've been so consumed with it for so long and It's become drudgery, and I'm trying to figure out why. I think I feel like there's nowhere else to go and nothing else to do. I'm going to be doing the same workouts now…

Muscle gain, PMS, water weight.... What's most important is how you feel, and the fact that you're feeling good. The scale is just a number, and a kind of dumb number at that. It doesn't tell you whether your weight changes are caused by muscle, fat, or water. It could just be your body adjusting to the changes.…

See the Clean Eating Club thread for sample menus. We often post what we eat in a day.

Bump in the road: I'm doing well with the clean eating (well, mostly! ), but I'm having a very hard time making myself exercise, since getting sick gave me an excuse not to. I feel like I've reached the limit with what I can do with my body and I'm discouraged because I don't know what goals to set anymore. I feel…

Here's a list that I've been wanting to post for some time -- Tom Venuto's top clean foods and top non-clean foods. :flowerforyou: Top Foods That Burn Fat 1. Oatmeal 2. Yams and sweet potatoes 3. Potatoes, white or red 4. Brown rice 5. 100% whole wheat and whole grain products 6. Green fibrous vegetables 7. Fresh fruit 8.…

I did a light 2 miles on the treadmill (hadn't run in a couple of weeks due to a bad cold). Felt good!

2BLean, my first suggestion if you need more calories would be to eat the whole English muffin and the whole apple  unless you felt like you were completely stuffed afterward. 3 lbs is great, I think! Congrats!

I worked out for the first time in two weeks :noway: today! It felt good! For the most part, I could do everything I was able to do before my two weeks of rest, but I did feel a little less strong. That's to be expected, and I'll be stronger again in no time. I'm sure my body benefited from the rest. But I started thinking…

Hey, everyone! It's great to see that the list has been so busy. I've been giving my body a couple weeks of recovery! I'm finally beginning to get the urge to work out again after being sick. What I've needed most of all was sleep! I'll be back into it again soon, but the clean eating continues. Meal #1 3AM to 9AM…

1 g of carbs = 4 calories, so 175 carbs would have 700 calories. 75 calories from your target is pretty much right on. Eat an apple or an orange, if you're still hungry, or maybe 1/2 tablespoon peanut butter for some protein and healthy fat.
