^^^ Bread is not your enemy.

She said she cut out breads and starch a few weeks ago....u can read gud. I suggest avocados, chicken and beans/legumes.

I signed up for my first 5k months in advance. When it got closer I realized I'd stopped running very often, and was probably not as prepared for it as I should have been, and I weighed 250 pounds. The good news? It's only 3.1 miles. The goal is to finish, the satisfaction of being able to cross that finish line is…

I've received these sorts of comments, no matter how small they seem, they hurt. As I've continued my journey, I realized that their voiced 'concern' was not always offered in malice, but by people 'trying to help'. They don't know how to approach someone who has committed to losing weight and changing their lifestyle,…

Started at 268, got down to 232 and after a bout with depression and the loss of my job, gained much of it back. When I hopped back on the wagon (with a new job and some anti-anxiety meds) I was 253. It's been 3 weeks I'm down to 248. I've got 98 pounds to go!

Even your teeth lose weight!

At your weight? Chop off a foot. -5 instantly!

At some point your "weight" is definitely your bones and organs.

I try to stay just below 1200 (1150), because I'm always certain a few calories sneak themselves in there just due to human error, no matter how I weigh/measure food. I try to exercise 5 days a week for at least an hour and have no problems with light-headedness, weakness, hunger. Most of that, I believe, is due to what…

I've just started heavy lifting, been doing it about a week, so these are really my 'base' numbers. Bench: 60 - 5x5 Squat: 100 - 5x5 Too intimidated by Deadlifts, afraid I'll hurt myself. Overhead Press: 40 - 5x5 Bent-over Row: 45 - 5x5 5'7" 249lbs. I'm obviously in the weight loss stage, so I'm eating at a heavy deficit.…

I'm 5'7" and intending on hitting 150 through weight loss, then building muscle until I hit 160.

My weight has stopped me from having the career I've always wanted. I've wanted to be a police officer since college, but that requires being a healthy weight and being able to pass a physical test/police academy training.

^ This. When I cook meals (it's just me) I always tended to make too much for a single serving, no matter how hard I tried. So I started cutting that remaining serving(s) in half and taking it to work for lunch. It's been one of the most successful decisions I've made in a long while. It saves me time, money and calories.…

My hardest one to hit seems to be fat. Consistently enough to where I'm considering swapping my non-fat greek yogurt to the traditional one. It's all about juggling. You'll never quite get it right. Sodium, I think, is difficult for everyone, as everything that is processed has obscene amounts of it. Bodies are a work in…

I believe the only thing the Dr said when I had blood work done (about 4-5 months ago) was that my Vitamin D was low. Which, is not uncommon, especially for those of us who live in a less sunny area of the country. (I'm in Seattle) She also said that Vitamin D is better absorbed with calcium, so I may switch to just that,…

Looking good!

I load up on veggies and protein. Veggies tend to be high in fiber and take up a bunch of room in your stomach, so you get the "I'm full" signals to the brain. Protein is vital for me, at least, to avoid the hunger pains. I've noticed a serious difference between eating 1 cup of greek yogurt and 1 cup of steel-cut oats for…

I did a Juice Cleanse about a year ago after watching "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" (Aka, one large infomercial) It made me miserable and sick, and after 10 days, I inhaled a salad. Though I did lose 10 lbs, it was not healthy or sustainable. The only 'plus' was that my digestive system seemed to be put 'back on track' and my…

I don't know about everyone else, but I -need- a rest day. I find after pushing myself M-F in the gym after work every day, I ache. I can feel it in every muscle of my body. It's both satisfying, in that I know I pushed myself enough, and that all that work means I can take a day to chill, watch some Netflix and recover.…

I love my ziploc containers. They're reuseable and save me tons. They come in all sorts of sizes/shapes and help me stay on track in terms of controlling my portions. I know which one fits a cup, which one fits two, etc. The only thing I use Ziploc bags for any more is freezing chicken.

I know that sodium in the diet is essential for the normal function of our bodies. However, high excess sodium in the diet contributes to high blood pressure (which much of my family has). I'm hoping by at least decreasing my intake (not eliminating it) that I'll avoid future health problems. I"ll give making my own sauces…

I hover between 1200-1300 most days. Some days it's a struggle to stay under, others to stay above. I've noticed a lot of it has to do with if I had bread/beans and other high cal foods. These food are good for you, but can really up your calories. A usual day for me: Breakfast - Plain, non-fat greek yogurt with a packet…

Because they tend to be high in calories, and over consumption of calories equals weight gain, which can and does lead to a whole host of medical problems, including, but not limited to, diabetes. Also there is a HUGE difference between the nutritional value of simple carbs (white bread, white rice, potatoes) and complex…

I love turning brown rice in to "fried rice" Cook the rice as usual, then cook a scrambled egg or two. I add that, some diced chicken breast and whatever vegetables I have on hand (last time I used mushrooms, carrots, kale and a mixed bag of frozen veggies) all together in a big bowl and add a little soy sauce. I make sure…

As a former WoW player myself, I understand exactly what you mean. I was spending 10-12 hours a day on that damned game. Every hour I wasn't working or sleeping was there, away from reality. My real weight didn't matter because I was slim or muscled on the screen. I gained almost 100 pounds in 2 years this way. The best…

Leftovers from last night's dinner. Chicken breast, brown rice, tuscan kale, tomatoes and green chile. yum yum.

^^ This. I purposely picked a gym in between my workplace and home. I have no excuse to drive by it and -not- stop to workout. It's just an extension of my workday now. A requirement or I don't get "paid" (with the satisfaction of a healthy, happy body)
