  • If you want to increase the amount of laps you can do consecutively, 0 to 1650 (a swimmer's mile) is great! When you need different and more diverse workouts, swimplan.com is good too - you input your ability level and it gives you workouts, as you improve, the plan improves with you.
  • I've just started swimming again too! I've been at it for about 4 weeks, and I'm feeling great, and the scale is heading down. It's hard to notice at first, but I know I'm improving, and getting back to that girl that swam in high school. I would recommend heading into the pool with a plan. If you just swim laps beck and…
  • You could also pick a small distance, (such as a short route near home, a track, or simply a number on a treadmill). Run/Jog for a little bit and walk when you need to. Each time try to walk a little less and run/jog a little more than you did the time before. If you keep it up, you will eventually be able to run/jog the…
  • When ever I did C25k, I loved running...once I completed my run. Starting out every workout, I was one grumpy girl. But whatever you do - stick with it! It works if you take it at the right pace

  • I know that if I allowed myself cheat days, that I would have a really hard time getting back on the wagon the next day. I think that it is more beneficial to have rewards that are non-food based: a trip to the movies, mani/pedi, new clothes, etc. This way, food stops being the controlling factor in my life.
  • Thanks for the replies, you guys! I'm going to try to work on what I eat before I swim and what I refuel with. :flowerforyou:
  • This is sort of what I do, even though I push myself harder than "light to moderate lap swimming" that's how I log it.
  • I'll be giving up soda and sweets. Hoping to make this change more permanent than one week though! >< Don't quit! Just start again right now  Now you know to watch yourself more closely.
  • I'm Madalynne, I'm 22, and just graduated from college this month. I've lost and gained more weight than I'm willing to admit, and I'm currently waltzing around wearing dresses, leggings, and the same two pairs of pants because everything else is too small, so I know I need to get back into being healthy. I've started…
  • Haha, I do the same thing! If I just have a glass of water, I'll never drink it - but stick a straw in it, and I'll suck it down! I think that has to do with drinking it mindlessly, like I would for cokes. I just carry my tervis cup with me everywhere, drink without thinking about it, fill it AS SOON as it's empty, and…
  • I'm currently doing a juice fast. I'm on my 8th day of nothing but fruit and vegetable juice. A juice fast is not a long term solution, but for me, it is a retraining of my body. I'm definitely a food addict, and like other forms of addiction, I need to remove myself completely from my substance of choice (food) before I…
  • I live in TN as well, and because I do a lot of stuff outside during the beginning of the summer, I take a garlic supplement - you don't smell bad to people like you would if you just ate lots of garlic - but it definitely keeps the mosquitoes away!
