1 year ago (and 88#'s ago) I took the plunge and decided I had enough of diabetes, high blood pressure, depression and a multitude of other ailments. I decided lap band was the tool I needed. And although I didn't quite meet my 1 year goal of 100 lbs lost I am sooooo much closer than I would have ever been before. Thank…

I had the lapband surgery done 8/4/2011. Down 86# in less than a year. Not gonna meet my initial goal of 100# the first year but far from being "unsuccessful". The only regret I have is that I didn't do this 10+ years ago. I have since the surgery come off all my diabetes medication and am my blood sugar levels are testing…

I have a VERY supportive work enviroment. That being said, everyone knows I had the lapband surgery. But, if I didn't work with such supportive people I would not have been so forthcoming. I also took the time to educate the people I work with. They know that there is NOTHING EASY about the route I took. They also are…

I am almost 12 months out and still have this problem from time to time. I have started using the sub-lingual B Complex and it really seems to make a difference. Just one dropper full under the tongue in the morning and I am in pretty good shape the rest of the day. I do find that when I get extremely tired alot of time I…

You look freaking amazing. Be proud of the work you have put in.

Hi, I am 47 and had the lap band surgery done last August, almost a year ago. I have lost 85 pounds. I am 5'10" and the day I met with the surgeon I weighed 380#. The surgery is NOT AN EASY OUT!! It's work. You still have to make good choices, you still have to get up and do the exercise. There are ways around the band, it…

I gave up soda and sweet tea 11 months ago and don't miss it at all. Now it's water or Crystal Light.

I have lost just shy of a newborn calf (84#).

Alot of my hunger is in my head.....Oh, it's 8am - time for breakfast, I must be hungry. I am working with a therapist on the head issues (hunger among other things) and it helps to stop and think, am I really hungry and if so, what am I hungry for. If it is something that is not on the plan I usually go for a big glass of…

Hello everyone. My name is Trish and I had lap band surgery done 8/4/2011. I'm coming up on my 1 year bandiversary and am going to come in a little short of my goal of 100#. But that's okay. I have the rest of my life to do this. Granted, it's not coming off as easy as it did the first 6 months but they say slow and steady…

Isn't it funny how we are usually the last to see the weight loss even though we see ourselves everyday? This is one reason why taking pictures often is necessary. I know I am terrible about doing this because I still hate pictures of me. It's all in my head. Don't look at how far you have to go, look at how far you have…

Day 1 of 30DS, I have a new love/hate relationship with Jillian. Day one down. Only 29 more to go. Sometimes day 1 is all I need to be excited about the next 29. I don't know yet. I'll let you know once the nausea passes.

The booth thing was huge for me. No longer do I have to make my family wait for a table and chairs. It's an amazing feeling to tell the hostess, "whatever is available" and know that I will be able to slide right in and be comfortable.

Welcome, This is a great group. Lots of experience and fun. I'm a Lap band patient. Banded on 8/4/2011. Coming up on my 1 yr anniversary. about 15 pounds from my 1 yr goal (100# gone). Don't know if I'll make it but im gonna be damn close. This has been the most success I have ever had.

I'm in! My dream goal is 280 by 8/4/12 (100 ponds in 1 year) but I know it's not realistic. However, I'll take it if it comes. I also am starting a 30 day Shred challenge tomorrow morning so it should help with all goals. Good luck everyone!! Weigh in day for me is really everyday but I will log on Saturday mornings for…

This is all about moderation. Once in a 10 week period is not going to derail your plans. Playing golf and lugging bags around 18 holes probably burned a good portion of those calories before you consumed it. Don't sweat it. Deprivation diets do not work. I would hate to think of a lifetime without fried chicken. I just…

I am in. I have to start doing something. The idea of facing Jillian every morning at 4:30 is a scary one. But I have to prove myself to myself. DVD is out and ready. Watch out Sunday morning. Here I come!

I have some lean cuisine in the freezer "just in case" the family wants something that doesn't fit in my day. I try to avoid them though. Between the sodium and the carbs (most are based on rice or pasta) the pretty much kill my numbers. But, it's better than not having anything and eating stupid (like hubby and boys do…

I had lap band surgery almost 11 months ago and I still have trouble some days getting 1000 calories in. I aim for 1200-1500 per day. More than not I don't make that number. But I am still losing and coming up on 100 pounds so I guess it's working.

I know that some medication cannot be crushed. I have never crushed my pills. I only occasionally have an issue with my Lipitor. As long as I take my time and don't try to take all 7 pills at once I do okay. What does your doctor say about this?

I use the liquid B Complex vitamins. Seems to help me with energy and cravings. You put the liquid under your tongue for about 60 seconds and then swallow. The run about $5.00/bottle at Walmart.

Compression garments? Maybe?

Only regret was that I didn't do it sooner. It has been an amazing life changing 10 months and I can honestly say I am looking forward to the next 40+ years.........Couldn't say that prior to the surgery. Don't think I would have lived another 15.

Chicken and I are rarely friends. Typically it gets stuck every time. As long as you can get liquids down I would give it a few days and see if it settles down. I try to drink something hot/warm about 30 minutes before I eat. Sometimes that will loosen the band a little. If not, it may need to be adjusted a little. Good…

Great news. Congrats on the loss.

Hi! New to this group. 10 months tomorrow since my lap band surgery and I am down almost 80#. It was the best think I ever did for myself. I am no longer on any diabetes meds and have cut my bp meds in 1/2. I started at 380#. My goal is to lose 100# by my 1 year bandiversary.

Big puffy Cheetos. I could eat the whole bag in one sitting. That and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

The crockpot is your friend if you don't like to cook. Just throw everything together in the morning, turn it on and dinner is ready when you get home. Also the Ziplock Steamer bags. Put your chicken breast in, a little salt and pepper or seasonings and pop in the micro. Done in seconds/minutes. You could buy your husband…
