All surgery has it's complications. I had lap band surgery and have had no complications or problems. Best thing I ever did. Now the hernia surgery was a different story, almost died from that one.......Every person is different. Whichever you decide make sure your surgeon and his office is a "Center of Excellence".

Instead of looking at it as a failure 1 day a week look at it as you are succeeding 86% of the time (6 out of 7 days). Just make sure you don't go for more than 1 day of splurging a week.

Hi Amanda, Welcome, this is a great place to go through this process. Lots of positive upbeat people with lots of experiences. I just sent you a friend request. Good luck.

Great Job. Just think, you are 50 pounds closer to being healthy. That's great. Just remember if you stall or slow down, DONT QUIT. I was hitting 13 and 14 pounds lost a month for about the first 4 months. As soon as it slowed I freaked. Was able to control the freaking but think I would have done better in November and…

It's rough sometimes but just take it one day at a time. I am almost 6 months post-op and I still have issues. Not sure how long it's been for you, but the weight didn't go on overnight and won't come off overnight. Don't beat yourself up. The good thing is you realized that the choices you were making were not the best…

According to my OB/GYN, Estrogen is stored in fat. When you start losing fat you also lose extra estrogen that can make your periods wacko. Mine have gotten much better since I started losing weight.

I just sent you a friend request. My diary is set to 1700+ cals but rarely eat that much. Can't with the band. I normally eat between 1000 and 1200 cals. My diary is open to friends and would welcome your views.

Hi Jennifer. What surgery did you have? Could you possibly go back to see your surgeon and maybe get some type of adjustment to help? If not, that's what we are here for. Help, motivation, a shoulder when you need one, a sounding board and someone to celebrate the milestones. Welcome!

So glad I found this. It's all about daily goals. If you meet your daily goals you will meet your weekly goals, you will meet your monthly goals and so on. My name is Trish and I live in Middle Tennessee. I began this journey in earnest in July 2011 as I was preparing for Weight Loss Surgery. I had lap band done in Aug…

I think the real question is, "Has anyone maintained the weight they lost with slim fast after returning to "real" food?" I would be interested in this answer as well.

Definitely Matthew McConaughey!

I did find you and you guys are a hoot. Friday evenings are most enjoyable. Thanks for including me.

Thanks, just what I needed this gloomy Monday morning. You are amazing and such a success story!

I plan my meals the night before. This keeps me from trying to wing it and then finding out that 1/2 of a KFC pot pie is almost 800 cals. That only had to happen one time. I log all my food but not my exercise. If I want more or am over cals I know what exercise I need to do or that I need to cut something. It's also much…

Welcome Jen. I'm Trish. I started at 380# in August. I am currently at 320. Been a great ride so far. This is a great place to be if you are looking for acceptance and motivation. Good Luck.

Since I had the surgery (lap band) my blood pressure is down and my body temperature is also down. I live in the south and have been freezing, but it has been cold and rainy in Middle Tennessee.

Great Job. Proof that it can be done.

Packer's of course.

Cheribaby411, you've taken the first steps. You can do this. Have you made an appointment with you surgeon yet? Maybe you need a fill. Keep us updated on your progress and be vigilant. I am sending you a friend request.

I just realized that i don't have 150# to lose. I only have 149 now. Started with 210. Yeah me!

Thought I had one the battle between Chicken and the band last night. Found a wonderful recipe for oven fried chicken that used light mayonaise instead of an egg or buttermilk wash. I was actually able to eat about 1/2 a chicken breast last night. Well, lunch today was another story. I guess the microwave really dries it…

Sometimes I'm fine with grapes, other times I can't even eat one. I think it is the skins that get me.

Addiction to food and aversion to exercise. The combination is deadly!

322 is my "hell spot". I go 322 to 326 and then back to 322. If I could just get below 320 I think I could start moving again. Changed up my exercise routine and hopefully this will be what pushes me under that 320 spoit.

count me in.

I put 4 rubber bands around my water bottle. Each bottle holds 32 ounces. If I can get all 4 rubber bands off the bottle I allow myself something special (small but not food related).

Hello all, I am Trish and I am currently at 322. I also lost a little over 50# since last August with the help of the lap band. My goal is to be at 299 by Valentines Day. Ultimately I want to be between 160-175. I would be very healthy at that weight.

Hello Everyone. I'm Trish. I had lap band surgery in August of 2011. I initially did great (50 pounds in about 3 months) then it got hard, and the holidays hit, and excuse after excuse. Well, 1/1/2012 NO MORE excuses. I was lucky enough to maintain in November and December, but I know I could have taken off more weight if…
