I spent about a month reducing carbs and cleaning out my pantry. Bread and other carby perishables went first and I just didn't buy them after they were gone. Same with pantry items. It took a little while to really get started but it was fairly easy and I didn't have to throw out a bunch of food that I'd already bought.

You might want to pick up one of the Atkins books. Even if you're not going as low carb as the book suggests the information will be useful. Also check out Gourmet Girl Cooks and the 24/7 Low Carb Diner. I've frequently made recipes from both and I really enjoy them. As for your basic brown bagging it you can find low carb…

I'm a huge fan of http://www.gourmetgirlcooks.com/ and The 24/7 Low Carb Diner.

This is basically what I do as well except I don't prepare my breakfasts ahead of time. This week I had 2 scrambled eggs with a little cheese and a sliced tomato for breakfast and chili that I made last Sunday for lunch. When it's cool I make a pot of soup and have it throughout the week and when it's warmer I usually have…

I'm fairly clueless about any serious training but I downloaded a few free apps and have been using them for about 3 weeks and can definitely tell a difference. I do one for chest which is a lot of push-ups but the basic workout is doable, one for abs which is pretty good and one that is called LAB (legs, abs, butt) mainly…

Breakfast: Broccoli and cheese omelets, diced avocado, hard boiled egg and crumbled bacon, scrambled eggs with bacon and tomato slices Snacks: Almonds, pumpkin seeds (I like them with the hull on because it takes about an hour for me to eat an ounce and it satisfies my need to chew), cheese (Mini Baby Bel, mozzarella…

Two of my best friends had the gastric sleeve done. They've followed the diet laid out for them by their doctor and they have maintained their weight loss. Unfortunately, in my opinion even with the sleeve there's no easy solution. You have to hold yourself accountable. You have to know what you can and can't eat and…

It always amazes me that people have so much trouble with this. We're all different and have different lifestyles. Personally, I like tips and advice but don't tell me I'm doing it wrong when I've found something that works for me.

Upping your fat content will help you feel full longer. Don't start gnawing on a stick of butter or anything but try switching to full fat cottage cheese and yogurt. Do you have an Aldi in your area? I buy a lot of my vegetables there and shop the sales flyers. I also like to buy large packages of protein that's on sale or…

Start by making small changes that are easily sustainable. I started with changing my breakfasts to something healthier and then over the course of a month I added healthier lunches and dinners before really starting to hold myself accountable. By that point it was fairly simple to stick to a healthier diet. Good luck!

Look for gourmetgirlcooks on Pinterest. She does the whole low carb/gluten free thing but as long as you pick and choose her recipes are fantastic. I've found that as long as you stay away from low carb baking that a lot of main dish recipes use whole foods and very few processed items. Also, I'd recommend not getting too…

Try making small changes first. I quit eating bread and potatoes first at breakfast and later on completely. That's made a huge different in my calorie intake and helps a lot. Now I eat a lot more veggies with all my meals. When I go out I try to stick with broiled or grilled protein, steamed vegetables, and salads. I also…

Wow. This pretty much degenerated into a petty debate. Personally, I follow a moderately low carb diet. It works for me. Anyone with a problem with the way I eat other than me or my doctor can pretty much go crawl back under their bridge. I've found what works for me. OP, if you can make a high carb diet work for you in a…

I've been following a low carb diet for just over a year and when I started I didn't count calories at all and lost about 45 pounds. Once I got to my last 20-25 pounds I stopped losing and maintained eating roughly 30-50 carbs a day. Once I got serious again and started logging/counting I started losing again. I'm still…

That's terrible about the accidents! I wish you the best of luck! You can do this! Just remember that if something is not working for you it's okay to try something different. I remind myself daily that I don't have to be perfect I just have to be better.

My meal prep is based around the fact that I'm usually only cooking for myself so I do things like split a casserole into 3 portions and freeze two for later use. I purchased some 3 cup rectangular glass containers from Target that are the perfect size for this. I also portion out my protein into two serving freezer bags…

I've followed a low carb diet for the last year or so and am happy with the results. I usually eat 30-60 carbs a day with the occasional carby treat. This helps me control my appetite and maintain my weight. I suppose you could say my problem is lack of willpower as well. Sometimes I eat simply to be eating and there's…

I fry a slice or two of bacon and then stir fry a little onion along with a cup and half or so of coleslaw mix. Once that's done I crumble the bacon over it and then have the egg on top using the runny yolk as a sauce.

Chop a red pepper, a green pepper and half an onion. Add the veggies, 1/4 cup black olives and about 1/4 to 1/2 a cup Italian dressing (not the creamy kind) into a gallon Ziplock bag along with the thighs. Marinate over night and then bake the whole thing (minus the bag) for about 25-30 minutes at 350. The olives give the…

I don't have them on hand but I use a lot of recipes (both crock pot and other) from Lisa Marshall at the 24/7 Low Carb Diner. The majority of her recipes don't require special ingredients which is one of the things I try to avoid on low carb. Her Italian Cream Chicken and Thai Chicken are both good.

I can button size 36 jeans which hasn't happened in the last 12 years. They're too tight to wear comfortably but I can button them so I'm almost there.

I'm not big on seafood. I make an effort to work it into my diet occasionally but it's not something I really enjoy... unless it's batter dipped and deep fried and I don't do that anymore.

My current kick is an over easy egg on a hash of coleslaw mix, onion and a slice of bacon. I fry 1 slice of bacon and then stir fry the onion and coleslaw mix in the drippings while frying the egg in another skillet. Layer the coleslaw mix, then crumbled bacon and then the egg on top.

If I'm wanting it to be sweet I add a little pineapple or cinnamon and a pack of Truvia with toasted pecans on top. If I want it to be savory I either add a lot of pepper or diced up tomatoes and cucumbers with a moderate amount of pepper.

My current go to morning snack is pumpkin seeds with the hull. I snack on them over about an hours time in the mornings. Not only do I like them but they satisfy my need to chew.
-
I like to use them in smoothies (particularly recipes that aren't very think, I let the ingredients set for about 20 minutes before blending) and I've made chia puddings with varying degrees of success (it mostly depends on the other ingredients and flavorings). I also sprinkle them on salads and non-mayo based coleslaws.

I'm probably in your range. I never actually logged a typical day but it wasn't uncommon to drive through somewhere and get two burgers, a large fry and a large Coke for dinner and then have dessert on top of that.
-
Exactly! Cutting carbs has been a much more sustainable way for me keep weight off than watching my calories but I'll be the first to admit that it's not for everyone.
-
I'm still losing a pound or so a week eating between 30 and 50 carbs a day but I don't really restrict my calories. I do try to eat healthier foods (a pound of cheese dunked in a vat of ranch dressing could be considered low carb but I don't do it) and a lot of vegetables which helps keep my calories in check but that's…

I don't have the recipe handy but if you look up the blog Uplateanyway and look for her pizza bagel recipe I don't think you'll be disappointed. I made mine in a muffin pan instead of a donut pan and while it's not traditional pizza it is wonderful.
