Hungry Girl's Cheeseburger Mac Attack
I just tried this for the first time and I really liked it. The Hungry Girl recipes are hit or miss for me and I think she uses entirely too many fat-free things but when I like one of them, I really like it. I originally saw this one Sunday morning on her show. I'm not big on cauliflower so I was skeptical about this but…

I Tried 3 New Things This Week
I feel like I've been in a bit of a food rut lately so I set a goal for myself to try 3 new recipes a week. I set down on Saturday, pick out my recipes, make sure I have everything I need on my grocery list and prepare for the following week. I'm a bit of a book fiend and I probably have 10 healthy recipe books that I've…

PB2. Where Do You Get It From?
I freely admit that I'm cheap so where do you order PB2 from? I don't mind paying for the product shipping is going to be there but I checked the Bell Plantation site and the shipping on 4 jars is nearly as much as the product itself. Anyone order it from somewhere that has reasonable shipping?

Vegetarian Recipes?
Anyone have any suggestions for a site for some relatively simple vegetarian recipes? I want to add a few vegetarian meals to my diet but I don't want to have to go out and restock my pantry with all new staples for a couple of meals a week. I've seen people suggest sites in other threads but I can't find any of them right…

Faux Frying with Fiber One
I've seen the Hungry Girl stuff where she faux fries with ground up Fiber One cereal and I finally tried it tonight and it was really good! I seasoned it with some chili powder, garlic powder, salt and onion powder and coated some skinless chicken legs with it and they came out crispy and darned tasty. I'll definately be…

Strength Training vs Circuit Training (Cardio)
First of all, I don't own a HRM nor do I plan on buying one. As long as I'm in the ballpark with calories burned or calories eaten then I've made a lifestyle change that I can sustain. I won't be wearining a HRM every time I exercise for the rest of my life, nor will I be weighing everything I eat for the rest of my life.…

Today's NSV!
I have 2 fairly basic goals at this point. One is to be able to wear a large shirt (done!) and the other is have a 36" waist which puts me in the healthy range for my waist to height ratio. Today I was trying on jeans and decided to give the 36's a shot and they fit! Sort of. I can button them and move around in them and…

Two NSVs Today
The first one was when I was at the dentist's office this morning and we were talking and she had me pegged for 10 years younger than I am. That never would have happened 60 lbs ago. The second one happened when I was talking with some coworkers. I was wearing a short sleeved shirt and waving my arms around (I tend to get…

Changing My Goals for the Holiday Season
I've pretty much decided my primary goal for the holiday's is maintain. My problem is that I've got a friend's birthday next weekend, Thanksgiving 2 weeks after that, my 40th 2 weeks after that and then Christmas 2 weeks after that. I am, not nor will I ever be one of those people who turns down birthday cake or a…

NSV at the Gym
I see a trainer sporadically to make sure I stay on track and am doing whatever routine I'm currently doing properly. I had a session with him today and we were talking about various activites. He'd like to give skydiving a try and I see no reason to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. We've both ben repelling (it's…

Prepackaged Protein Shakes
Do any of these actually taste good? I work in a restaurant and I eat breakfast at around 6:30 am and generally don't get to eat lunch until 2-3 pm depending on the day. I have time for a quick snack or two but that's about it. I see a trainer once a week and he suggested having a protein shake mid-morningish such as…

1/2 My Goal Met!
When I started my weight loss journey I really wasn't sure about my goal. As I got a feel for things I pretty much settled on wearing a large shirt and having a 36" waist. I'm not interested in being too skinny. I don't find that particulary attractive particularly on myself. Anyway a 36" waist puts me in the healthy range…

Serving Sizes
I've been looking through a couple of dietish cook books trying to find some reasonably low calorie desserts and it's starting to annoy me. The most obvious offender is the Taste of Home Comfort Food Diet cookbook. Don't get me wrong, I love the format. It's set up by course and each section is subdivided into calore…

Is There Any Point in Logging Strength Training on MFP?
The gym I belong to give you 4 free personal traing sessions a membership and I'm using mine to get set up with a strength training routine. I can't afford $40 an hour all the time so my plan is to get a routine set up and then once ever 2 to 4 weeks have a session and either tweek it a bit or add something new. Is there…

Better Than Peanut Butter
I picked up some Better Than Peanut Butter at a Healthy Life Market yesterday and it's not bad. 2 Tbsp have 100 calories and while it's not Jif(my favorite) it's still pretty tasty. The texture is a little off but on a PB&J (light bread and reduced sugar jelly) it's a perfectly suitable alternative.

Breakfast
Today's breakfast was based loosely on something I saw in a Hungry Girl cookbook I picked up from the library. I can't remember what she called it (I can never remember the names she uses...) 1/2 c low-fat cottage cheese 1 medium apple, diced 1 packet Truvia Cinnamon to taste 5 almonds I mixed the cottage cheese, cinnamon…

HG Crazy Pineapple Salmon Teriyaki
I had this HG recipe for dinner a couple of days ago and it was pretty awesome. It's basically a little teriyaki sauce, a little sweet asian chili sauce, a dash of hot pepper and a couple of pineapple rings baked ontop of a salmon filet and it was seriously tasty.

HG Turkey and Veggie Meatloaf Minis
I made Hungry Girl Turkey and Veggie Meatloaf Minis for dinner tonight and they were awesome! The only thing I'll do different next time is precook the broccoli slaw a little so it's not quite as crunchy in the finished product. They're in the database and I can get behind meatloaf that's 142 calories per serving (I had…

Chicken and Green Peppers
This is a simple one. 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 4 oz each) 2 green peppers, chopped 1/3 c low-sodium soy sauce Preheat the oven to 350. Place the chicken in a baking dish with the peppers on top and pour the soy sauce over the whole thing. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. 155 calories per…

Tuna Melt
I just had a tuna melt inspired by a Healthy College Cookbook I was flipping through. I took an english muffin (I used a Healthy Life Lite 80 calorie muffin) and split it in half and toasted it while warming up the oven. While it was toasting I drained a 5 oz can of tuna packed in water and mixed it with 1.5 Tbs of reduced…

Jogging and EarBuds
I've just started jogging and I can't manage to keep my earbuds in place. Between the bouncing around and the sweating I'm grabbing for them every 60 seconds or so. Anyone know any tricks or if there are different types that you can get at sporting goods stores?
