I picked up some Better Than Peanut Butter at a Healthy Life Market yesterday and it's not bad. 2 Tbsp have 100 calories and while it's not Jif(my favorite) it's still pretty tasty. The texture is a little off but on a PB&J (light bread and reduced sugar jelly) it's a perfectly suitable alternative.

Good to know. I haven't found anything under 180 calories. Thanks!
  • I have that peanut butter too along with a no sugar jelly and it doesn't taste that bad.

I'm not a fan of that stuff. It's ok, just doesn't taste like peanut butter to me. I try to fit in the real thing when I can.

The best advice I ever got about peanut butter is to only eat it on toast. When the bread is warm, you can spread it really thin.

I saw the chocolate one but I didn't want to buy it until I tasted the regular kind. I saw one of the Hungry Girl shows a couple of weeks ago and she was talking about both it and PB2. I can't find the PB2 locally and am not motivated enough to order it off the web:)

I LOVE better than butter. I get it at Trader Joe's. It's absolutely delicious and such a win. I wish I could afford to eat the real deal but I can't.
  • I have been told that peanut butter in moderation is good for you.

I use kraft light and 90cal for a tbsp is good enough for me. And I never use more than that at a time.

Please tell me what the reason would be to use this instead? Would you use more a time? Educate me.

Ingredients: PEANUTS (AS DEFATTED PEANUT FLOUR AND NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER), TAPIOCA SYRUP, PURE WATER, DEHYDRATED CANE JUICE, RICE SYRUP, VEGETABLE GLYCERIN, SOY FLOUR, SALT, TAPIOCA STARCH, NATURAL FOOD FLAVORS, PAPRIKA & ANNATO, CALCIUM CARBONATE, LECITHIN, VITAMINS E & C (ANTIOXIDANTS).

Boy they have the wool pulled over your eyes with saying it is better than peanut butter. This stuff is not even close to the more processed of peanut butters and a long way away from being REAL peanut butter.

Why not go with the NATURAL peanut butter with ingredients that say: Peanuts, salt.

Granted, I don't eat peanuts because I no longer eat legumes, but I sure enjoy some almond and macadamia nut butters.

I don't know why anyone would eat this stuff. It is a processed nightmare.

Better than peanut butter is a great option for certain things . . . like with a banana. YUMMY! Generally it is sweater and not as thick. Because it is sweater, it tastes great on a banana or in a sandwhich (you can even use less jelly) and you don't notice.

Now if you are wanting that salty thick taste that you are used to, for example, with an apple or crackers, then you gotta use the real thing.

I have both. I LOVE the ability to save 100 calories and not notice the difference in certain instances. It is quite healthy too. Get it at Trader Joe's.

The first ingredient is: PEANUTS (AS DEFATTED PEANUT FLOUR AND NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER)

As for why to eat it? 2 tbsp has 100 calories and 2g of fat I believe.

I've still got a jar of Jif in the pantry but I wanted to try this stuff. Like I said, it's not bad. I enjoyed it on a sandwich and I will buy it again but I'll also be eating the regular stuff as well.

I appreciate your right to your opinion but I posted this topic because I tried something new that I thought was decent. My opinion is that NATURAL peanut butter tastes disgusting. Many people will disagree with my OPINION and that's okay with me.

I am glad I don't watch my fat intake or count calories because there is no way I could stomach to eat something as processed as this.

I am glad that you are happy within your calorie limits and that is the only thing you are interested in.

This stuff is NO way healthier than real peanut butter. There is all kinds of sugar and soy in it. And fat is not your enemy.

People with thyroid problems should stay far away from soy products.

    Try PB2

I heard this stuff is incredible. With like 50 calories!! I can't find it anywhere. I know, I should order it online, but I don't want to pay shipping!

Netrition.com will save on shipping costs for PB2. I love the flavor of PB2 - but the texture is terrible (I use it in oatmeal). Better'n Peanut Butter has good texture but the flavor just OK.
  • I found PB2 at a local health food store. I purchased it from them, but they told me if I like it enough to order it directly from their website because it is cheaper there. I think its pretty yummy :)

I think i have all of you beat with the best peanut butter ever found!!!!!! I am going to a diet clinic called "Monarch" here is Salem, OR and they have a pb that is a powder, you use 2 Tbsp and add a little water to make it the consistency you like and it only has 45 Cal for 2 Tbsp. I couldn't believe it when i sampled it for the first time, it taste just like the real deal but it's made with only peanuts, a little salt and a little sugar! They have removed all the oil and all the other crap. Here is whats in it in case you don't believe..lol!

    Roasted Peanuts
    Sugar and salt

    calories.... 2 Tbsp 45
    Total Fat....1.5g
    Sat. Fat...0
    Trans Fat.....0.01
    cholest......0.01
    sodium.......94mg
    total Carbs....5g
    fiber....2g
    Sugars....1g
    Protein....5g

Now this is some AWESOME Peanut butter! I was so excited to find it. i'm not sure if you can get it online but it is so worth it if you can. It really does taste amazing like the real deal!

To the Original Poster...Thanks for sharing your find with us, it's always helpful to find food items that are lower in calories and the like.

I just checked online and it seems that you can get PB2 at places like Amazon and others stores. some of you were mentioning PB2 but it didn't hit me that it's the same peanut butter i was talking about until i went back and looked at the jar i had. But it is worth it, it really does taste very good! i see you can buy bags of it too.

netrition has $4.95 shipping flat rate and you can get tons of other great products on there including pb2. I have the regular and the chocolate version. great added to shakes or muffin in a minutes. Otherwise I prefer Trader Joe's natural peanut butter (especially the one with the flax seeds!).
  • I dont eat that much peanut butter, but would it not be better just to have the jif that you like and eat it now and then and not the 'fake' stuff? I find that when I try to replace somethings with the 'fake' stuff i always wind up getting the 'real' stuff and eating WAY to much of it.

and the fake stuff costs twice as much as some really good all natural PB's like Crazy Richards,,the extra money for the fake stuff isn't worth it IMO

If you think natural Peanut butter tastes disgusting, than I'm sorry, but you don't like peanut butter. You like sugar and all the junk that's added to it.

Lol, yeah. Wouldn't you rather eat something tasty that you enjoy that fits into your lifestyle or shove something "ok" into your face just because it is low cal. It confuses me!
