  • I had 3 prior to starting the healthier lifestyle thing: pickles, bananas, and mint I'll now eat some pickles provided the dill flavor isn't too strong and bananas as long as they're slightly green. The mint thing I refuse to budge on though.
  • They're used a lot in Hungry Girl recipes. If I remember correctly she's got an entire chapter devoted to them in one of the cookbooks but I'm not positive. I chop them up and with eggs and ham for a breakfast skillet kind of thing.
  • I've got a Christmas Eve party with the step family, a Christmas morning breakfast with my mom's family, and Christmas dinner with my dad's family. It's going to be ugly lol. Anyway, tomorrow is another day. As you long as you enjoyed the party and get back on track no serious harm done:)
  • Sweet and spicy salmon 4 oz salmon filet 1/2 tbsp teriyaki sauce 1/2 tbsp sweet thai chili sauce dash of red pepper 2 pineapple rings Mix the teriyake, chili sauce and red pepper. Place pineapple rings ontop of salmon and pour sauce mixture over top. Bake covered for 20 minutes at 350. If I make this as a single serving…
  • Green pepper chicken 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts 2 green peppers, chopped 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce brown rice, cooked Place all ingredients in a pan, cover and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Serve over brown rice. You can add onions and/or pineapple if you like as well. I've tried both and they are tasty.
  • One meal doesn't really qualify as falling off the wagon. Either do some research online and find some lower calorie choices or order what you want and only eat 1/2 or 2/3 of it. Relax and enjoy your evening out. Don't let stressing over one meal take the joy out of your time with your family.
  • Monday through Friday mornings. My routine is different on the weekends so I don't bother Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Well spoken! I think this website is a great tool for keeping track of what you eat no matter what your choices are and for the most part the community wonderfully supportive.
  • One pound is 3500 calories. In order to gain a pound you would have to eat whatever your maintenance calories are (not the 1200 you're at now) plus an additional 3500 to gain a pound of fat. However, if you go out and have a binge the scales may be up a bit because of water retention due to high sodium foods. Oh, and it…
  • 15 lbs in 100 days is basically a lb/week which is a healthy amount to be losing. You shouldn't be discouraged by that, you should be proud. As for all the treats you miss, I've found that if I deprive myself then I give up. Buy a dreaded Lean Cuisine pizza and have it once a week. Just don't tell the militant clean eaters…
  • Being aware of what I'm eating even when it's not the healthiest choice. And the fact I've donated all of my fat clothes so if I gain too much weight I won't have anything to wear:tongue:
  • Out of curiosity, can you honestly say your coworkers weren't like this before you started eating healthier? If you can, then yes, they are being jerks. Otherwise, you're probably more aware of what's being offerred than you used to be. Dieting/eating healthy (whatever you want to call it) is a personal choice and it's…
  • This is pretty much what I'm doing other than I think we're doing a breakfast on Christmas morning with Mom's family. I'm pretty much eating whatever I want on those days and eating normally the rest of the time. My healthy friends do it every year so I figure I should be able to as well.
  • To each his (or her) own. I like a slightly sweet coating on chicken sometimes. Captain Crunch Chicken from Planet Hollywood is one of my favorite things ever:love:
  • It was basically the Hungry Girl Crispity Crunchity Chicken (or something like that) 6 chicken legs (skin removed) 1/2 c fiber one chili powder garlic powder salt onion powder 1 egg 2 tbsp water Preheat the oven to 400. Grind the cereal. Mix in spices to taste. The original recipe had specifics listed but I just winged it.…
  • I plan on eating any and everything I want when I'm at Christmas parties (I think I'm going to 3 total) and I'm going to eat normal the rest of the time. If I'm up a few pounds after Christmas then so be it. I'll take it back off afterwards like everyone else does:)
  • If I really want something I work it into my daily allowance. That being said I have one or two cheat meals a week where I eat any and everything I want. It hasn't hurt my weight loss and it keeps me sane.
  • I'm not generally a resolution type of guy but I have been trying to get myself in the right mindset to not kill anyone at the gym for the month of January:) I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to the crowds lol
  • Hey there Basically, if you don't eat close to your goal then you'll lose weight faster (maybe faster than you really want) and people will start throwing around comments about the dreaded "starvation mode". That one I'm not going to touch with a 10 foot pole. Anyway, I didn't eat all of my calories back in the begining…
  • It's all a balancing act. Unfortunately, I doubt anyone will be able to tell you what you're doing "wrong". Stick with it and try something different. Good luck and congratulations on meeting your goal.
  • Start with something easy. Back in the Spring I started getting up half an hour earlier and walking before work. Nothing too strenuous just a pleasant walk along the riverfront. Once the weather started to change in the Fall I joined a gym. Now I walk some on a treadmill or use the elliptical and do some circuit training.…
  • I tried my local Y and didn't like it. It's super busy all the time and unless you're there at really odd hours you have sign up for treadmills and elliptical machines the day before to get one. The staff also leaves a bit to be desired. I ended up going with the local Nautilus and am much happier. It's a little cheaper,…
  • It sounds like you've got more to worry about right now than a bad food day. We all have them. The trick is to pick yourself up and get right back at it tomorrow. I let a couple of bad days send me into a tailspin that lasted for something like 7 years and 75 lbs. Don't do that. That's bad:) We're all going to slip up. My…
  • Thank you! That was something I'd been meaning to look for but hadn't gotten around to doing:)
  • My ticker only reflects what I've lose since I started MFP but you can damned well bet that if it comes up I'm counting the 27 lbs I lost before I started using this site:)
  • Honestly, if daily fluctuations in your weight upset you this much then maybe you should put the scales away and only weigh yourself once a week. I weigh myself most days knowing that sometimes the fluctuations will irritate me but at most I end up looking at the scales and saying something to effect of "Oh, eff you" and…
  • I started out wanting to lose 60 lbs but it sort of morphed into a size goal. I'm not quite there but I'm close. To hit my size goal I will need to lose closer to 70 lbs I think.
  • I'm a fan of cookies in moderation. Heck, I'm a fan of cookies out of moderation on a bad day:) Seriously, the thing that has kept me sane and on track for the most part is finally realizing that I don't have to give up all the foods I love, I just can't have all of them all the time. Anyone who thinks I'm never going to…
  • I've not noticed the speed thing but I have noticed that my back bothers me less if I run (or even walk) on a treadmill rather than outside.
  • This is one of the more obnoxious posts I've seen on here in a while. Has it ever crossed your mind that if someone wants to ask a question that they want answers to their question, not a similar one by someone else? Has it crossed your mind that maybe different people will read the question and give a different…
