• Wow what an awesome way of putting it! Completely true.
• I've been where you are so many times. Just the idea of starting is so overwhelming. But I like what Jillian Michaels always says about how important it is to find your "why". What is the absolute #1 reason you want to make this change? Nail that down and as Jillian says the "how" will come easily. Also don't pick a day to…
• Wow, what an awesome read. Thanks for sharing!!
• Ugh poison ivy is the worst! I'm super allergic to it. I even get it from smoke if it's on the wood in a fire I'm around. I totally feel your pain and hope it goes away quickly!
• Awe, I'm sorry you're sick too! I agree with you. Some people say sweat it out but if sitting at my desk is draining I can't imagine working out. Thanks and I hope you feel 100% for tomorrow!
• Tell yourself that eating will no longer be a recreational activity. Works for me!
• Very, very well said! I agree it's not the schools fault and that the parents need to be held accountable as well. But we're not going to change every parent's mind or eating/grocery shopping habits overnight so this could be a great first step in exposing children to healthy alternatives.
• Oh ok yeah that makes sense. I wish at 7 years old I would have said no cookies! lol
• Wow! Now that's going a bit too far..
• Great job! I noticed a similar thing happened to me when I completed the 30 Day Shred program. I hadn't lost anything for a while and the week after 30DS I only did yoga and lost 4 lbs that week. I'm pretty sure it's because your muscles are retaining water to repair themselves after strenuous activity. When you let them…
• These are the most important moments where the whole lifestyle change comes in. Instead of "eating your way out of it" try another activity. Exercise will always make you feel better! But if you MUST have something, I'd suggest picking up a lean cuisine version of your favorite comfort food. That way the calories are…
• I super excited about this week because after having great success with the 30 Day Shred program, I am starting Ripped in 30 tonight! I have a lot of energy for a Monday and am pumped to start a new program :)
• I think rewarding yourself for hitting small goals is so important! It gives you something to look forward to that's not going to take a year or so to accomplish. I'd recommend rewarding yourself for every 25lbs lost. I'm planning on getting another ear piercing when I reach 25 lbs lost. So excited!!

• Oooo I might have to go to Macy's soon! I've been putting off replacing mine but a sale is a sale :)
• Wow this is great thank you for sharing! It's so interesting to hear everyone's perspective. I guess it comes down to where you live and how much thought you put into it.
• I understand, but am I the only one who is tired of this excuse? You can buy a Lean Cuisine meal for $2-3, less than an entire value meal at most fast food restaurants. I don't make a lot of money but find ways to make it work.
Please tell me what grocery store chain you shop at. I want to go to there. Round here…
•
^THIS. Take a dollar and see how many calories you can buy in junk food, and compare it to how many calories you can buy in the produce section. I am not saying it is impossible for low income people to be healthy, but the odds are stacked against them very heavily. I know from experience. I work a well paying job…
• These are extreme examples that fall under the "exception" category, not the "rule". I think we're all talking in generalities here. There are always going to be outliers. I feel for your mom and your situation but maybe you shouldn't take online forums as personal attacks.
• Very possible! Tons of sleep always helps too :)
• But it DOES take motivation and dedication. Absolutely everyone can lose weight if they decide to. Not everyone decides to. Burn more calories than you take in - that's something everyone can do. I agree that not everyone is educated on the subject and marketing does make it seem like it should be a quick process. But if…
• Have you just recently started working out after not doing so for a long time? Maybe your body is just getting used to it? It does sound like you're eating enough though.
• You might not be eating enough. If you're expending a ton of energy while working out, you need more energy from food. When I had MFP set to lose 2 lbs/wk (1,200 cals) I was tired and lethargic, especially after exercising. Since switching it to 1lb/wk (much more appropriate for the amount I weigh/need to lose) I have much…
• I've heard that it is a winter squash. I bought a couple for the first time a few weeks ago and they were quite small so I got 2. Hopefully later on in the year they'll be more plentiful and bigger. But I highly suggest - they're delicious!
• Very normal. When I first started on here, it was only a week or so before my period. So I had a lost about 1.5 lbs and then gained 3! I freaked out and questioned everything I was doing, but everyone that's commented so far is right. It does come off after about a week. You might even drop more than what you've gained. :)
• This. This is way too extreme and not a good or sustainable way to lose weight.
• One of the best quotes I've seen on here yet has been "I decided eating is no longer a recreational activity." That really hit home with me because I love to eat and enjoyed it WAY too much before. Now I eat to meet my goals on MFP and to feel healthy. I still enjoy what I eat, and actually get to eat more often now. But…
• Don't feed the trolls people...
• Thanks! haha that guy didn't know you had already basically done a workout just from the store to your office. I've noticed though that when I'm super sore, especially my legs, that it actually helps to take the stairs and walk because it loosens you up. The more I sit, the more I tighten up and hurt.
• Great job! And yes, you will be SORE! Tonight I am starting Level 3 of 30DS and pretty scared of it... I was incredibly sore after the first few days of levels 1 and 2 so I know that's going to be the case again. But I'm noticing such a huge difference in my endurance and I've already gone down a size in my dress pants. My…
