Dammit, I hate our society sometimes. That this is even a question is so freaking irksome.

I think you're arguing semantics here. Personally I don't like the word "cheat" because it only has negative connotations and implies I'm trying to get away with something or I'm being "bad". No thanks. Just own it and move on.

2 hours normally, including stretch, warmup and cooldown.

I do HIIT because it makes the time go by faster. Steady state cardio makes me a sad panda.

What do unreal men say/do? I like to think they ride unicorns.

I love my FuelBand. I wear it every day unless I'm dressing up for something formal. I've had it for about 6 months now and had no problems at all. I love all the graphs and especially having a performance metric to compare that isn't relative to an individual like steps or calorie burn estimations.

This seems to be popping up a lot lately, did Dr. Oz do something about it? Usually if there's hokum floating around he's responsible. You're doing what you know you need to do, counting calories and exercising. There is no "magic pill".

Hey! I actually started this on Monday! I'm hoping it will help me bust through the plateau I've been in and kind of reinvigorate me to lean out a little bit more. I've done one day each so far of the cardio and lifting programs, I do the cardio HIIT after my boot camp and it burns a ton of calories. The lifting circuit is…

I fill a gallon jug with water mixed with a little lemon juice and have it empty by the end of the day, not including water I drink at the gym. It gives me a minimum and I don't worry about counting anything. I do have to lug a gallon jug to work though, so there's that.

Not gonna lie, that all sounds AMAZING and I would try a little of everything I could and damn the numbers.

The tricky thing with Stevia is making sure it's not cut with other stuff. They make mixes with corn derivatives and can still legally call it "natural" but it's not what people think they are getting.

Yeah, that's totally Beta alanine. You can get just plain ol' BCAA powder (or a mix with Glutamine, which I like too) that doesn't have that in it and mix it with protein. Personally, I kinda like the Beta alanine tingles. I'm weird like that.

A guy in my bootcamp wears baggy shorts and tends to do sit ups across from me whilst I am doing something standing. I am fine with this.

Lol awesome. That's why you stay in school, kids!

Yes, because science.

I used to get angry at the person not racking their weights, but now instead I use it as a bonding experience with my fellow gym peeps, as we can commune whilst talking crap about the jerk not reracking his weights.

A month. I've been resisting the urge to do the douchey gym selfie flex thing, but I gotta say the urge is strong.

Handsome jocks.

Eh, I can't think in terms like that because sizing is so super wonky all around for women. If you make your emotional well-being contingent on being size X but you try on jeans that look amazing on you but are size X+2 because that line runs small or whatever, it only serves to make you crazy.

I did my first Tough Mudder in November, and I think my boot camp-style training was most helpful. I do a lot of heavy lifting in addition to that, but I would also really recommend intervals. Tabata style sprints, box jumps, accelerations and deccells. The running sucks, not gonna lie, but personally since it's not a…

It's like in the old days pre-internet when the porn channel on the cable became unscrambled for some reason. Don't leave, you never know when it's gonna be ripped away from you.

BCAAs and Glutamine help recovery, that may be worth adding to preworkout and postworkout drinks.

My main takeaway from most of this is that I wish I still smoked pot.

How did you choose your goal weight? I'd say get a set of calipers and start going by body fat %, that will be more of a guide as you gain muscle imo. When asked "lift or no lift" I will always always say "lift".

When I'm specifically working on upping a lift, I switch from 3x12s over to 12/10/8, moving up by 10 lbs for each set. Once I can do those higher weight 8s steadily I do a couple more days of 3x12s then move back over to 12/10/8s. Great advice upthread about form- especially squats, if you're trying to move up weights make…

When I was like 60 pounds down I started noticing a difference. Like, people would hold open doors for me now, and when I was very heavy men and women both would just let a door slam on me. I definitely get a lot more attention now, but honestly I would always get a relative amount of attention, but there would always be…

Whiskey straight up. Repeat.

I think body fat % is a way better metric than scale number, for me at least. I'm 5'9" and started at 335 (size 24 jeans)- for the last 3 months I've teetered up and down the same 5 pounds between 201 and 207, but have gained mad muscle in that time, so I'm at a 10-12 dress size. It drives me crazy, and honestly I have no…

What helped me immensely is working to get over a "diet" mentality, that feeling that you are "on track" or following the plan, and that if/when you don't, you're "bad" and the whole thing is wrecked. I was very bad for having that attitude, and it did nothing to help me, it only plunged me into a spiral of defeat and even…

I think the notion that eating frequently revs up your metabolism has been well debunked, and at the end of the day it comes down to IIFYM and personal preferences. For me, I eat 5-6 "meals" a day, but that's because it helps me keep my blood sugar regulated more than anything. If your schedule only allows you 3 meals or…
