Ignore the scale. Grab a measuring tape and see how many inches you are losing. If your clothes are fitting looser and you're feeling good then you are making progress. You could be building muscle while burning fat. A pound of muscle is smaller by volume than a pound of fat. The scale lies, just remember that.

I'm 5'10", here's my little stat block: HW: 197 CW: 186 GW: 155~ However, I should add that I'm really more interested in shedding the fat and adding on some muscle, so my GW is not set in stone. I'm also taking my measurements down, which is really more important.

You can still enjoy fruit, maybe just eat less of it. It's not all sugar, it does have many positive attributes and remember that the MFP scale doesn't work for everyone. For example, I was not getting enough protein so I manually adjusted my levels. good luck!

THIS exactly. I've noticed better muscle build now that I've been doing strength first. Much safer to do cardio after.

Happened to me when I first started REALLY working out last summer. My face got all bumpy! I panicked at first, but figured it was normal since my body is changing. I did a light face scrub after working out with just warm water and baking soda and it went away within a couple days.

YES!

Losing inches is more important than losing pounds. Do you feel stronger Do you feel muscle? If you are smaller in general, then chances are you're doing it right!

That's probably the most inspiring thing to see. If I see people bigger than me running then I have to ask myself why I'm still walking. There was a couple that used to run in our parking lot, once up then back down. That was it. At first I thought it was weird, but then I thought that everyone starts somewhere.

Can't see your food diary, but are you eating lots of unprocessed, healthy foods? It's a good idea to put the scale away! It can be tricky, that thing. You might consider doing strength training for more than your legs. Planks, squats, lunges (which will all work your legs too!) are great and also dumb bell rows. Maybe…

http://nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/10/11/the-beginners-guide-to-building-muscle-and-strength/ Go about halfway down to where the red bit says "I'm not skinny, I need to lose weight..." I didn't want to regurgitate it, that's my two cents. Good luck!

bump. I'm looking for one too!

I had this talk with my husband. I told him I love him, but that he needs to get healthy and lose weight. Not in those words exactly. Yes it hurt to say it, yes it hurt him to hear it, but if we can't say these things (respectfully) to each other, then who will?

I've found that sometimes when I don't like a new food it isn't that vegetables fault, it is how I cooked it. I don't know if this will work, but maybe if your child says they don't like X you can find out what they don't like about it. Texture can be changed by cooking it differently, maybe spice it up with other flavors,…

I have to say that in the summer I have a really hard time eating all of my calories because I eat much lighter foods in warm weather, so I keep "treats" around to tempt me and to pump up my calories. Yogurt and fruit popsicles or homemade pudding pops, things like that. Good luck, you can do it, this is just a setback :D

Somethin glike this happened to me last summer. I think it must've been from sweating SO much more than normal, so I started scrubbing my face with baking soda and then rinsing it off whenever I finished a workout. Did the trick pretty quickly.

Great post! I saw Wendy Woolf post a recipe or two using jicama, but I did see she recommended them raw as well. I think I'll try this for a summer snack on my balcony with a caipirinha! Mmmm....

I don't know about Thermage, but I know that building some muscle and eating more protein is supposed to help in case you want to try that too. Good luck!

That's awesome!

You may want to try jogging or riding a bike, definitely change up your routine. are you eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruit?
-
Try upping your calories.

Are you eating enough fats?

You have to find things that inspire/motivate you. I've been finding fitness blogs that I really like, watching clips from 300 (weird, yes, but if it doesn't make you wanna be fit then what will?!), subscribe to a fitness magazine, do whatever keeps you going even if it means covering your home in sticky notes that say…

I'd suggest eating more whole foods, like fresh fruits and vegetables. You're consuming a lot of sodium and preservatives. Also looks like you're under your calories on many days recently. Also, if you're not logging your workouts then the site isn't adjusting for the calories you've burned. Try logging them and then eat…

Are you logging your exercise here? If not, you might not be eating enough calories. For awhile I would burn many calories, so my net intake of calories for the day was quite low. Some people don't eat back their exercise cals, but if you're not seeing movement maybe you should try eating them back. also increase your…

The scale isn't always the best tool to track your progress.

I put in my profile to include a note when sending a request. I comment on people's updates so I want to know that they added me for a reason, not just randomly to pump up how many people are their "friends".

Lose weight overall. You can't lose weight in just one area. You can do strength exercises to tone muscle, but that's about it. Do some squats and planks to tone, it does make you feel good in the mean time. Everyone is different, but I found the elliptical to be a waste of time unless you do a harder level, so I switched…
