  • Mine's not as deep but has changed the way I think about eating - "don't treat yourself with food, you're not a dog". If I eat chocolate now it's because I want chocolate, not as a reward or compensation for anything.
  • Agree with bcdpearce - check age and weight and VO2 settings, the calorie calculation is partially based on those. I burnt about 150 calories in a class I usually do 400 last week - turns out my HRM had somehow set my age to 7 ;-)
  • I do a mix of evening and morning workouts - would never get out of bed if I didn't do classes at my gym though; you have to book them in advance and there is a limited amount of spaces, so I know if I don't show up someone who might have wanted to go would have lost out. Makes me feel guilty and so I always go :-) I think…
  • Hey there, I haven't read all the posts but I also started out on almost 1,700 calories here, was exercising a lot and it took me a while to see losses. Since I work full time and also study I rely on microwave meals a lot which I know isn't the healthiest but helps me with portion control and I'm still losing, even…
  • Oh, and VO2 is the setting after age and weight. Try it...
  • Hey Steph, I have the same HRM and it is a bit tedious how it sometimes resets the age and weight automatically.. but then it's a really good price and works so won't complain. But I think what you should check indeed is the VO2 setting - I didn't know what this was at all so had set it at 90 (thinking it goes the same…
  • If they have trampolines at your gym you could do a rebounding class, apparently as good as running but ok for the knees. The PowerPlate classes are also knee-friendly, tend to be a bit expensive though. If not why don't you start slowly with some shorter walks and maybe some upper body strength training?
  • How about logging your dinner earlier in the day? Then you'll know how many calories you have for snacks. Helps me to keep things under control and if I do want a snack or two but stay within my calories I don't feel bad about it...
  • And done! Might do something similar for my BSc in Psychology soon so would also be interested in your findings. Good luck with everything!
  • bump, also interested
  • Don't know if some days you're just not logging all meals but you seem to have calories left over a lot of times. Try and eat all your calories consistently or at least try and meet your BMR (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/).
  • Mmmh, Aero Milk Choc Bubbly Dessert (97 cals), a Curly Wurly (115 cals... I have LOADS of those as they take a while to eat)... M&S do a nice range of snacks called "Guilt-free snacking"... My latest is a portion of Krave (http://www.contagiousmagazine.com/magazine/upload/krave_02.jpg), 135 cals for 30g which is a decent…
  • I like the Nakd bars, Banana bread are the lowest I found in terms of calories so far (92 per bar): http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQC7WxRcjMbo4i4283tAFxs6FUVfcStiN-6CooGYxRUhyifZwhy If you have a few more to spend those are delicious, I think they're 153:…
  • I got my first one from Sports Direct, they often have offers and the Nike bras are quite good and not too pricey.
  • It took me much longer than a month to notice a difference from exercising but once you do it's so incredibly gratifying, and in my opinion much better than losing from dieting alone. I still have a lot of weight to lose but I feel much more comfortable with my body and for the first time have a taste of what it might be…
  • Invite sent, anyone feel free to add me!
  • I tend to add snacks - e.g. an Aero Bubbles dessert (97 cals) after lunch or a Nakd bar (between 92 and 160 cals)...you could also try hard boiled eggs for extra protein (~70 cals) or maybe some fruit? Or maybe add a soup as a starter? I try to eat half of my exercise calories or even all of them if it's a hungry day so I…
  • Beautiful, I love that you have a happy smile on all your pictures but it's even happier now! All the best!
  • 1) Fit back into a dress I wore 2 years ago by August 2) Go sky-diving (which means losing 7kg...it was an awful moment last year when they told me I was too heavy to jump!!) 3) Go to the gym at least 3 times every week (that's easy cause I'm addicted anyway ;-))
  • Hey Jenn, what I'd recommend is to start exercising now, a mix of cardio and toning will help you with the weight loss but it will also make you feel better about yourself. I haven't been able to lose much weight this year (only started MFP about a month ago and seeing some progress now) but I'm feeling much more confident…
  • Hm, thanks for your feedback, I think I'll just see how I feel with it, it's only been a couple of weeks. I've just added sodium to my diary and haven't exceeded the daily limit ever so on that front it can't be that bad. On we go ;-)
  • My old WW favourite: Curly Wurly, 115 - not under 100 but takes a while to eat so feels like more than it is.
