I would single handedly keep Hostess in business by eating Twinkies non-stop! All day, every day!

Absolutely get a HRM. Forget about using it for weight training. They're not made for that but any cardio you do, it's a must. You won't get anywhere near accurate results from MFP or the machines you're using. Polar is the most popular brand and they're pretty affordable.

Bump... No cyclists out there?

Increase your calories for a week or so. Not bad foods but increase with good foods. More lean meats, fruits, vegetables. You need to change things up every now and then to confuse your body. Try 1500 calories or so per day for a week. That may help get you out of the plateau.

My point is not whether or not to eat back exercise calories. It is more about how do you get an accurate count of the calories you burn during weight lifting since heart rate monitors are not designed for, nor do they work for weight training. So instead of worrying about the possibility of guessing the calories wrong and…

Find things you can eat a lot of and still low calorie. Popcorn is always a good choice. Also chewing gum and drink water, water, water. That will help fill you up and may help. Just remember it's all mental too. Find something else to occupy your mind. Get up and move around when you're having strong urges to snack.

That number is just a calculation based on your calorie deficit for that particular day and it's saying if your deficit was the same as that every day, that's what you'd weigh in 5 weeks. If your calories intake and output are close to the same every day, it should be fairly accurate. Mine always was.

I've been on this site for close to 3 years and I have never sent a friend request. I have received maybe 10 or 15 requests and just within the past week or 2 accepted 4 requests.

I use Endomondo for running and cycling but I also log my cycling on Strava. I've been very happy with Endomondo for years.

It sucks that the Colts potentially have their second GREAT QB in a row doesn't it?

What in the wide wide world of sports is goin' on here?

What a bunch of idiots on this thread. This poor girl is in pain and just asking a question. You could have a bad infection in there in which case the ER would help. Maybe try rinsing your mouth with some warm salt water in the meantime to help with the pain. Most likely you have a nerve exposed and the air on it is…

Absolutely 100% agree. Since I started cycling my legs are like rock and it's a great cardio workout too.

I smoked for 26 years and tried to quit several times. I completely understand being scared. It is scary because you're giving something up that's been a big part of your life. One thing I discovered was that until you're absolutely ready to quit for you, it's not gonna happen. Hopefully you're ready. Quitting smoking was…

I thought I had a case of crabs but I only counted 23.

I never log my coffee which I use creamer in. I'm sure it adds up over a month but who gives a squat? I most always have plenty of calories left each day to cover it. I'm pretty religious about logging everything else.

I've noticed on here, if 20 people answer a question, you'll read 18 different answers. Everyone just has their own opinions and even if you ask 10 "experts", you'll probably get 10 different answers. Over the 2 or so years I've been doing this, I've found that it's hard to find solid information on anything that has to do…

I do both. Cardio is like weight lifting for your heart and lungs. Weight lifting is like weight lifting for your muscles. The more muscle you pack on your body, the more calories your body burns every day.

Iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach and tomatoes are all more than 90 percent water. You can absolutely get some of your required daily fluids from these sources. All fruits and vegetables contain mostly water. Some much more than others but all help give you the fluids you need to survive. Keep in…

First and foremost... WATER! All the getting up to pee will keep your mind off snacking, and walking to the bathroom 27 times a day has to burn a few calories. I love the 100 calorie packs of microwave popcorn. Tastes good and takes a while to eat.

Stevia is all natural and from everything I've read about it, it has no side effects of any kind. I have used it many times but after using Splenda for years, I'm having trouble getting used to the taste. Coffee is all I use it for.

I have to agree with this. There are so many factors involved with getting a somewhat accurate estimate of calories burned. I know there's NO way the max heart rate calc works for me anymore. My fitness level has increased SOOOO much since I started this journey. My max heart rate is going to be much higher now. Short of…

Very true. I cycle every day and MFP's estimate of the calories I burn are double of what my HRM reads. I would be very skeptical of any estimates from MFP. They tend to run high in my experience.

Here's a excerpt of an article written by a certified trainer. It explains some of the technical aspects of HRM not working for weight training... The problem is a technical one. Calorie burning isn't determined by heart rate, it's determined by the number of muscle cells that are activated to perform a given activity.…

I have a Polar HRM and never had a problem with any of this.
