  • I've been using juice for lunch and really like it. It satisfies my hunger with minimal calories and is a healthy type juice. I love those containing beets, but haven't found one I don't like yet. I get mine from a juice bar that opened near me that has organic juices, and actually presses their own almond milk.
  • Primarily peoples experience with it. I've been replacing mainly my lunch with a 16oz juice from them - 80 calories on average and I stay satisfied. Mostly veggie with a little lemon or ginger for flavoring - some have a little apple. It helps me keep my calories in check
  • Thanks for this link - I've read through most of them already. Lots of good info
  • I'm a GI nurse. For reflux we advise no food at least 2 hours prior to bedtime. Also watch the combo of what you eat. peppermint, caffeine, cinnamon & chocolate are a few of the things that relax the lower esophageal sphincter and increase the reflux so avoid them. Avoid tight waistbands and elevate the head of the bed…
  • I always have a high protein/fat breakfast unless it is a fast day. even then I cook it for my husband. Bacon/sausage/eggs/omelet etc. We love breakfast so much we actually got chickens so all we'd have organic eggs
  • I used to live in an area that from my front porch I could see Dairy Queen, from the back porch Krispy Kreme. Should you be surprised that I gained weight during that time. There is nothing like a Krispy Kreme doughnut that is fresh and warm. They literally melt in your mouth
  • Have you tried juicing??? I'm no expert on this but a new organic cold pressed juice bar has opened near me, and I've been having a bottle of juice for lunch. They are about 80 calories for 16 ounces, and the holds me till dinner. I usually have a small breakfast (bacon/eggs), a baby bell cheese for break with occasionally…
  • I've created a 'food' in my app called Kristy's Fast Day and gave it 700 calories. doesn't really mean anything but it makes me crazy to not complete my diary
  • Does your gym have coaches that you can get to help you learn form? Proper form is important to get not only the results you want but to prevent injury.
  • I started running in my mid 50's. Never ran before, in fact DH and I would make fun of runners we saw on the streets with their grimace and sweat. I'm now 61. I've run 5Ks, 10ks, half marathons, and this past January ran a full marathon. I never thought I would be able to run over a mile. I've placed in my age group on the…
  • Being really ready to change is the first step and it sounds like you are there. You can do this. Start with small changes. Log everything you eat. measure your servings. If you can get a food scale to help with serving size. If you are like me you will be shocked at the amount of calories you are eating. That really…
  • I started IF not because I thought it would be good for weight loss, but because of the health benefits I became convinced of. It is currently being used in endocrinology in some areas to manage insulin resistance and stabilize blood sugar levels, thus decreasing the incidence of T2 diabetes. Part of the theory as I…
  • Yeah - it's a bad week for me too. My grandson's birthday was Wednesday, then my husbands mother passed away during the night. I've been birthday and stress eating. So far I've managed to go through a half gallon of ice cream not to mention tacos, chips with queso, a huge cheeseburger with fries. The list goes on. The…
  • Have you tried Intermittent Fasting???? I was on a plateau for months eating 1200 calories/day and running up to 20 miles/week. I switched to IF and started losing again and got to my goal weight.
  • 'The Scientific Guide to Intermittent Fasting' by Michael VanDerschelden is a good book to answer all your questions
  • IF is really flexible. The MD who taught me about it said you can do however many days you want at fasting - he suggested I start with 2 days a week fasting. When I got to goal weight I moved down to 1 day a week fasting. When I gained a few pounds I moved up to 3 days a week fasting. I found that I had to assure I got in…
  • Congratulations on your loss and thanks for sharing your information. Pay no attention to the nay sayers. I think they are just a bit jealous in the success and freedom we have found. I followed IF and broke a plateau as I was eating 1200cal/day, very closely weighing and logging every bite that went into my mouth. I…
  • UUUGGGG - read what really is in McD burgers. It's disgusting. That was enough to turn me off for good.
  • I'm not interested in a big bootie - I don't like the look or feel of it. I've always thought a lean athletic build was much more attractive and desirable. I WOULD like to stretch my legs about 2" (I'm 5'2")
  • I do the same kind of thing. DH and I call it 'unleashing the beast' when we eat something sweet because that starts a cycle of overeating sweet things and then feeling guilty until we can rope it back in - usually after feeling like crap and gaining back some weight. I think for me sugar is an addiction. It makes me feel…
  • I'm so sorry you are going through this. Losing my mom was the hardest thing I've ever gone through. Just keep taking it one day at a time, doing what you can and don't be too hard on yourself. I lost my 3 family members in one week this August, and I've gained 8 lbs since. I'm eating comfort foods (i.e. sugar, ice cream)…
  • That is a HUGE accomplishment! WTG
  • I hit a plateau and got really discouraged. Then I tried Intermittent Fasting and the weight started dropping again. Even then I would hit a plateau occasionally. Keep it up - don't go back to the old way of eating. Look into IF and see if it's something you think you could do
  • Amazing! You are doing fabulous. Keep at it-don't give up. Don't get discouraged. I remind myself frequently that I didn't gain it all in one day - it just seems to take so much longer to lose it. I too have a huge sweet tooth and love all things carbs. I've found that if I give in and have a sweet/high carb day, I feel…
  • WooHoo!!!!! I LOVE IF! I do 5:2 or 4:3 when I'm faithful to it. I always lose those weeks. This week I lost 2.4 lbs, ate really well and I didn't exercise at all this week which is unusual for me. Not only that but all my body systems work better when I do IF. Congratulations
  • Do not stop taking the photos. I see a big difference between the two photos. Can you just imagine what a difference it will be when you are down another 25? Don't give up. Rome wasn't built in a day. BTW I didn't take any photos and wish I had
  • I eat only dinner each night on fast days - usually around 5:30-6pm. Get my 500 calories easily on my fast days
  • I prefer working out/running early AM, then I don't have to worry about it the rest of the day. I work M-F 0730-1600. I get up at 0420 and go to the gym, back home at 0600 to shower and cook breakfast . I do have to go to bed really early (no later than 9pm). Its about all that works for me
