1) What made you want to change? Health reason mostly, all the crap they put in there is not good for you!!! 2) How did you go about making the change? Very very slowly, it's been about a 4 year transition. 3) Did you start by slowly reducing or going cold turkey? Slowly, I started with soda. Got used to that, then went…

I asked this question the other day and someone gave me: http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/whattowear/0,7152,s6-240-325-330-0,00.html Can't say if it's right as I'm new to cold weather running too.

I will admit that I did not read through all 5 pages so I'm sorry if I'm repeating something. Health insurance companies charge a flat rate for insurance a group of people. Your employer decides how much they will cover and what they won't. The choice to charge more for smokers is their decision not to subsidize them as…

I've had this issue for years. I have found hot tea stops my cravings. I don't know why or how, but it works. With that said, I was not a huge tea fan, but if it makes my life so much easier I'm developing a "taste" for it. My current favorite is vanilla carmel (it smells like cookies).

Thank you!!! It's nice to know I'm on the right track but depressing to see it will take me another 14 months to get there! But since it's taking me 14 months to lose the first 40 I'm not surprised. But I'm going to get there and once I'm there I'm not going to go back.

Thank for your suggestions, I've done the oats thing as well and burnt myself out on it. But I'm going to look into chicken sausage. I save bacon for the weekends (yum).

Thank you!

OMG your story is so inspirational!!! We are about the same weight, and have the same goal!!! I just ran my 2nd 5k last weekend and have been kicking around doing a 1/2 but was scared I was too heavy!!! Now I know it can be done!!! Thank you!

If it came from the earth or had a mother don't worry about the sugar in it (it's natural and less likely to bother you) If it doesn't fit into the first to categories then watch the amount of sugar in it. This at least is a good place to start, everyone is different and some to need to watch the sugar in fruits as well…

Thank you! I have read the book but it has been quite some time ago.

I completed workout 3a yesterday. But I was wondering do you guys use a free form squat (bar on the back ) or an assisted squat rack (bar attached to a track)? I feel my form is better on the track but the weights are heavier on the free form. Opinions?

$50.00 More like ripped it into pieces. It was like a bad jig saw puzzle with two 20.00 and a ten.

I have this problem as well. I have a "deal" with myself. I have to start exercising but after 10 minutes if I do not want to continue I don't have to. I rarely quit after the 10 minutes. Just thought, It helps with my movitation as I know I'm not trapped in the workout.

It may be normal, the younger you are the higher your heart rate. Also the bigger your heart is, the higher the heart rate. I see your 19, I'm 36 and mine is 155 to 165 during exercise so it wouldn't be unheard of for yours to be 170 to 180. I would put your HRM on, start it, and relax on the couch for 20 minutes. What is…

IMHO, that's why weight loss is so hard. Nothing works for 100% of people 100% of the time. There is some truth for in all of it, (well except a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat, it should be a pound of muscle has less volume than a pound of fat.) I can honestly say, I have been working to change my…

5'11" here, lots of places to hide the weight, but the other side of stone no one notices when I lose either :(

Yes and no. Can I personally? No, I have found by eating sugar and junk , I crave more sugar and junk and can not stay under calories. Techinically, if you can eat whatever you want and if you are under calories you will lose weight. Good luck on maintaining it.

- I put a piece of wax paper under the waffle iron or george foreman grill for quick clean ups. -Sprinkle baking soda in a clogged drain and flush with hot vinegar will open the drain as well as drain-o.. -A marshmellow in the tip of an ice cream cone stops drips. -Ants won't cross a chalk line. Run chalk around you…

This works for onion and garlic smells as well.

I am the same way. I'm a sugar addict. I read a long time ago that women who quit smoking are at the best risk for sugar problems. They replace nicotine with sugar. I know I did. For me it's a very slippery slope, one cookie in the AM, I'll be craving it all day. This is what has worked for me. I allow myself one good…

This is a great question, thank you for asking it. I am very timid about lifting for fear of injury. Bumping to read and digest later.

Three things: One bring your own healthy snacks, Two: Plan on having one treat to look forward to, (It's easier to say no to chips if you love s'mores and are looking forward to it.) Three: Don't just don't overeat and drink. You are in control of what you put into your mouth. Until I realized and accepted this, I had…

I've been at it a year and a few weeks and I have lost 30 pounds. I have 60 more to lose. It's been slow but I know it's permanent. Before MFP, I would have gained at least 5 pounds in that year time frame. So I'll take it and be happy with it.

LOL my first question when looking at any study is who is funding it "Funding This work was supported by a grant from the Corn Refiners Association." Big surprise. This means nothing. I'll stick with trying to reduce by refined sugar especially HFCS.
