I had borderline HBP. I lost 40 pounds, quit eating processed foods and started running. My BP is now 110/70. I can't say just one of them did it, I think it is a combination of all 3.

That's awesome news!!

I haven't but do work around a busy schedule. I do bulk cooking on Sunday. I cook enough chicken sausage for Monday to Thursday (my workweek.) Sunday nights I make a pork roast, whole chicken or pot roast, so I will have left overs for a lunch or two. I will throw chicken wings or wings into the crockpot before work, so I…

Umm no, that is hybridization. GMO is one where scientist have inserted a gene from another unrelated organism (bacterium, virus, animal, plant ect.) to make the outcome "better". They might be good, they might be bad. No one really knows because it is new territory.

That is why I don't label it. If one labels it paleo, everyone's panties get twisted. If I state, I feel best eating meats, fruits and veggies and best when I'm not eating sugar or grains. No one thinks twice.

About 5 years ago, I was developing bunions. I was about 50 pounds heavier than I am now and very inactive. I also drank about 6 to 12 cans of diet coke a day and ate tons of processed foods. I started buying very supportive shoes (albiet ugly). My doctors suggested I get orthotics. I didn't want to shell out $400.00 so I…

I have been running for over a year now. I'm still slow. I'm still heavier than I would like. But this is something I found when I started running. I loved it (and still do). I think most of us feel like you do. (This is a blog entry from flintland.blogspot.com) Hey, Fat Girl. Yes, you. The one feigning to not see me when…

What the heck, I'm in!!!

This one of the best threads ever!!!! This was so motivational, and I teared up more than once!!

There are 2 of us (but my hubby is only in town 4 nights a week) we spend roughly 400.00 a month on groceries. He is not paleo but will eat whatever I fix. I do have a garden and getting a lot of my veggies out of it now. I am also very blessed that I have a local butcher that only deals in pasture raised animals. The…

I'm very happily married but if I were in the dating world again it would depend on what I was looking for. If I was just having fun and not looking for something serious, I say hells to the yes be a cougar!!! But if I was looking for something stable, I would want my age or older.

Well look at as a trade off. Us tall girls can put on 5 to 10 pounds and no one notices, but if a short girl does that it is very noticeable (of course this is a double edge sword, I have to lose 20 pounds to drop a pants size.....)

Great job, keep it up!

Awesome and amazing story!

I completely agree. It is a knife and fork pizza, but it is yummy.

If you don't mind, I would like to join. If I can get everything prepped, I will be starting tomorrow, if not Monday. This will be my 3rd W30. I will likely include butter and small amounts of cheese in mine (I know they do not bother me.) I would love to have some support considering my eating has been crap lately!!!

I have my best runs in the morning before eating. Eat when you are hungry. I also wanted to say the quote really reminded me of me a few years back. My feet hurt so much, I could barely walk, let alone ever think about cute shoes. My advice get fitted for walking shoes, so to a specialty running store tell them about your…

This is not about motivation to quit but about moving you closer to quitting. When I quit, I had to smoking sensation counselor tell me in the months leading up to quitting, make smoking as boring as possible. When you smoke, just smoke. No talking on the phone, no eating, no reading, go outside , stand don't sit and only…

Also one about carb flu in the beginning, what to expect, how long will it last, ect.

Meh. I do believe 100% paleo is best however I do believe even 80/20 will help resolve his issues. Weight loss in any way will help lower BP. Triglyericides and "bad cholesterol" will be lowered by paleo (even at 80%) and "good cholesterol" will be raised. I am about 80/20 and my numbers have improved. As well, the better…

I'm sorry to hear that, hopefully since they are mild, you can re-introduce them in the long run. May I ask what test you had done?

*slober* Thank you!

Peeking at your diary, I wouldn't say your sodium is neccessary high but your potassium is low. You don't track it but by my guessamation it is low. At the very minimum, the ration to potassium to sodium should be 1:1, optimially 3:1. Although, I do agree there are lot of processed meats and cheeses that will spike you…

We have separate non tobacco discount, basically if you meet both of them the high deductible plan is free for you and the normal deductible plan is about 1/2 price. Your is more stringent as it does not give you any wiggle room. Next year, I have a goal of 5 of 5.

Bump. I too believe sugar is very healthy for us.

hmm Thanks for posting.

I'm signed up for Run like a Girl in October. I started running the beginning of last summer. I'm slightly slower than you (5k in 38 min, 10k in 78 minutes). I know I can do it, I will have to stick to the training plan. I know you can do it too!!!

This is an awesome story!

I don't have the answer for you, but what I do believe is everyone is different. You have to experiment for yourself. I have found that a whole avocado and package of tuna is enough to refuel me for my workouts (along with lots of water.) However, whenever I try something new, it's not uncommon for me to be sore for 3 days…

This is true is you are hourly, but not so much if you are salary. I have often foregone lunch in order to be able to leave at a decent hour. I pack my lunch and eat it at my desk. I have the right to an hour lunch, but I am expected to have my work complete and sometimes they overlap.
