I don't like it when people ask me how much I've lost (which seems to be really common!?) Like if I put a number on it it will somehow validate the achievement? Why do they need to know? When I'm cagey about it they will push it and go "oh go on, you MUST know... is it around *insert number here*?" It's pretty personal in…

You look lovely in both photos, but 41lbs is an incredible loss and there's definitely a big difference. Well done!

I understand not wanting to eat on the commute at the moment (and in some cases it's not possible anyway if you're on public transport and need to wear a mask). Can you eat a snack just before you leave work instead? Or you could have a low-calorie snack ready for the moment you get home? Another possibility is to not have…

Wow thanks everyone, some really insightful comments there. I do need to look at the behaviour more closely. I've been doing this for years and have done various things to try and work through it but obviously haven't yet succeeded on getting a grip on it! I know that occasional high-calorie foods can be fit into a plan,…

What do you think you were eating on an average day before? If it was more than 1450, then cutting down to that is going to be a step in the right direction. If you limit it too much it just becomes miserable and difficult to stick to it, so just do what you can, as long as it's going the right way from your previous…

If you're feeling hungry then don't try to stay under 2,250, just try to meet that. That's your calorie allowance so you should lose weight on that amount. There's no point in depriving yourself needlessly to try and boost it - I know it's tempting to make it go faster, but that is how people set themselves up to fail…

One more tip - If you think about it, even if you're eating just a tiny bit less than you were before, that's an improvement and you might see some loss. How many calories do you think you were having per day before you started this? Say it was 3,000 and you say you're currently set to 2,250. Try increasing it to 2,500…

Have you started recently? If so it can take a while to adjust to eating less than you're used to, especially if you were overeating before. Also though, it does depend what you're actually eating and what your calories are set to. Some people have them set too low thinking that will help them lose weight faster, but then…

Gyms are still closed here in the UK, which makes me sad :( I also really struggle with home workouts and I like the routine of the gym, being surrounded by other people who are working out helps me. I have actually hired a personal trainer to work out with me outdoors until gyms reopen. She keeps me motivated. I have a…

Honestly I don't really know what whey tastes like! This is the first protein powder I've had so I'm not totally sure. I would say though it's pleasant enough if you get the vanilla and mix it into things. Mixed with milk it's not quite as good as a real milkshake but it's palatable enough. There are artificial sweeteners…

If you enjoy your coffee that much, have tried other ways but really can't compromise, then surely you just need to find a way to work it into your diet? There is really no point in making yourself miserable, it's just not sustainable. If this is a treat you need then have it! Just do it in moderation and cut back…

Pancakes, cheese, chocolate and pizza. Oh dear, I have four and probably more... I guess this is why I am here in the first place! :)

I've been using Bulk whey protein. It's not vegan but vegetarian. Tastes fine, I use vanilla flavour and mix it into cereal/ pancakes/ yoghurts or occasionally just have it as a shake. You can buy special shaker cups to mix them in or yes just use a whisk if you want it really smooth :) (Edit: Should have said I'm in the…

Are you kidding? You look much slimmer on the right! Keep it up, you're doing great :)

Emotional eating is the big one for me. However I prefer to try not to see it as "sabotage" because that for me frames it in a very negative way and makes it feel like my behaviour is bad or lacking, which only increases my descent down the spiral to failure and depression. Sabotage also makes it sounds very deliberate,…

I suppose I have quite a few when I think about it! I drink Pepsi Max and I'll often go for low fat versions of dairy things like milk, creme fraiche, mayo, yoghurt. I use an olive oil spread instead of butter. With cheese I will only go for the low fat one if I'm actively trying to lose weight as I notice the difference…

Cutting down the carbs a little bit when trying to lose weight definitely helps me. I would never do full on keto or anything as I don't think it's healthy or sustainable to cut out entire food groups and brand foods as "bad" or have anything completely off limits. But certainly, eating less stodgey carbs and more protein…

I'm similar to you. 32/f and I'm set at 1520 a day. I go for a walk most days, which is about 200 calories, and then some days I do more of a workout. Honestly, I'm similar to you and I do find that I am often a bit hungry and I want to eat more than my calorie allowance. But I'm not light headed or starving, so I think…

I once got from an older relative - "Wow! How much weight have you lost??!?" - in shock and amazement when she hadn't seen me for a few months. That was her first reaction and then she went on to say how good I looked etc. I knew she was trying to be nice and compliment me but it just felt like... how much did you think I…

Maybe you could find other exercises to strengthen your core too? If you're arching then it's probably to do with weak core.

In the morning I don't have energy until I've had something, even if just a piece of fruit and a coffee :) I would usually eat before, but not too close to the workout. I try to leave at least 45 mins to digest. Some people get digestive issues from exercising straight away, so I try to avoid that. I also find I feel less…

If you want to know how badly it will affect you then that depends on how often you are doing this. If you are just skipping a couple of meals as a one off because you feel poorly or have no appetite, then it won't affect you at all. If you're doing it regularly and it's becoming a pattern then you probably need to see a…

These may not actually be old accounts. Someone could have created new accounts and hacked them to make them look like they are established (so that people are more likely to accept the friend requests from established users). They could have taken over existing old accounts but that would be harder as it would require…

I find it very weird that the scale can adjust for clothes and the time of day you are weighed at. Those things fluctuate so much (a light summer dress vs. two layers and thick boots on a winter day - how on earth does it know?) I'm not sure I completely believe it.

If you are losing inches then you know you are doing something right... sometimes it just takes time. Keep going and as janejellyroll said, check your calories are truly accurate, it's amazing how off you can be if you try to estimate.

Hi. Sorry to hear you're struggling. Depression makes it hard to do anything - add onto that this past year, coronavirus, and I'm not surprised you're struggling to stick to your 1500 calories. It's probably not to do with the type of food you are eating really and I don't think that switching out one food for another will…

Oh and for everyone getting these - make sure you report the profiles rather than just deleting the requests so that MFP can address it!
-
I've been getting them too! I had 4 the other day  Chances are that they aren't actually from 2014. They have probably been hacked and made to look older than they are so that people trust them more. I'd recommend deleting them - whatever they're up to, it ain't gonna be good!

@sijomial Thank you. Fitbit does say that it takes into account HR in calorie calculations (that's part of the reason I got it as I hoped it would be more accurate). So, I wondered if my heart rate is a bit higher because I'm not very fit and therefore the calorie calculation is a bit higher. But I don't know as it seems…

Personally I'm overweight and I found skiing really didn't suit me. The boots were so uncomfortable and I am not morbidly obese or anything, I'm just a few stone overweight but it really didn't work. I couldn't do it because my body was too heavy. The boots were pinching a LOT because my calves were squashed into them, and…
