TRX/ Suspension trainers?
I've just finished a round of personal training where I used TRX for the first time. I would love to carry this on at home but I'm wondering which type to buy. TRX seems to be so much more expensive than some other brands. Does anyone have any experience/ knowledge about this? I want to use a door in my house to just to a…

Destructive behaviour/ food addiction - anyone else?
I worked out with my personal trainer this morning, good session, burned a lot of calories. 2 hours later I went to McDonald's for lunch! I had a cheeseburger and medium fries so not the worst meal (about 700 calories) but it's like I can't help myself. Then once I have been to McDonalds I give up and eat rubbish later in…

Fitbit overestimating walking calories?
Sorry if this has been asked before. Had a look but couldn't see it! Today I did an hour of walking at a normal pace (just under 3mph. Mostly flat). Fitbit says I have burned 431 calories in this time (I was in "Fat Burn" zone for most of it). But MFP says 289! Both of them have my weight, age etc. but I don't sync them.…

Can't walk after workout
I had my first personal training session on Tuesday morning. We did lots of resistance stuff, all outdoors so mostly body weight, resistance bands etc. There was a lot of squatting and lunges. I am a 32 year old woman currently weighing about 200lbs. Even though I was going to the gym before our most recent lockdown closed…

Do we really need weight loss goals?
When I tell people I am on here they often say "That's great! How much do you want to lose?" and I'm like... I dunno... I just want to be healthier and feel better. I don't really like attaching a number to my journey because I don't really know how I will feel at any given point on the scale. I do weigh myself regularly…

Hormone balancing foods
Ladies! I've always suffered with the effects of hormonal imbalance, especially at that time of the month - mood swings, bad skin, weight gain etc etc. I'm sure many of you can relate. I recently saw a mix which can be added to smoothies, yoghurts etc. which supposedly has ingredients which can help with the effects of…

Lockdown blues
Is anyone else just feeling really fed up? I know there are probably many posts on here like this but please bear with me as I just need to vent a bit. I am feeling so down right now. My wedding was cancelled back in April because of Covid and things have just been really difficult since then, work has changed, life has…

Kettlebells
Does anyone use kettlebells to work out at home? My colleagues have been talking about how great they are, and I've been told by my physio that I need to do some work on my core strength. Does anyone have any recommendations for where to start with these and what weight to go for at first? (As a complete beginner!)

Podcasts for the Gym
Does anyone else listen to podcasts whilst they workout? Any recommendations? (It can be on any topic - doesn't have to be health/ fitness related!)

Calories Vs. "healthy" food choices
So, I have done a ton of exercise today (over 700 calories), and so I am approaching dinner time with over 1,200 calories left which I can eat. I know there is debate about whether or not people eat back exercise calories, but let's say I plan to eat them all. For 1,200 calories I could order a large takeaway pizza from…

My McDonald's Habit
So I've just been reflecting in my blog about my love-hate relationship with McDonald's food (Click here to read) I was wondering if anyone else has a love-hate relationship with a particular food, an eating habit that they wish they could kick, but have always struggled with? Or has anybody managed to succeed in cutting…

Workout Aches!
So I have been going to the gym most days for the past couple of weeks now, and I'm starting to really feel it! 'Hurts so good' as they say - but I was wondering, is it advisable to rest your body if you have workout aches and pains, or is it ok to just push through this and carry on? Don't want to do any damage and I'm…

Logging strength/ resistance exercises
Hey, so, I'm not really new here but I usually only do cardio at the gym! But I am now doing kettlebells, stability ball workouts, pilates and some resistance stuff/ weights, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to log this or how many calories I might be burning. If I type "kettlebell" in, nothing comes up - same…

Do you always lose weight if you stay within your calories?
I find that I usually have to do a little bit 'extra' to actually lose weight. The plan that MFP worked out for me to lose weight is to eat 1570 calories a day. I would have thought that should work as they say the average woman needs 2000... But my stubborn body seems to do just fine maintaining on 1570! Haha! Does anyone…

Lose weight by walking?
Hello, I am wondering whether people think it's possible to lose weight just by walking combined with a healthier diet (I was eating a lot of fast food and takeaways before and am making big improvements here). I am quite overweight at the moment, actually just into the bottom of the 'obese' category on BMI :( So, if I…

Just Do It
I know I have kind of stolen this motto from Nike! But I think it's my new outlook! Lots of people (including me) have tried to find ways to 'cheat' weight loss. Fad diets, articles in the news about what is good or bad for you, adverts for diet pills or a revolutionary way to lose weight without needing to cut back on…

Jogging on the spot
My boyfriend exercises by jogging on the spot in the living room whilst watching TV for half an hour each night. He has lost a lot of weight by doing this before and he doesn't like the idea of jogging outside or gyms. He's really into it and he likes it so it's good that he's moving! But do you think this is good exercise…

How much do you push yourself?
So I have just started going to the gym again, for the first time in ages. Bearing in mind that I am 200lbs and very unfit at the moment... I have pretty much just been doing a 45-60 minute workout and it's all cardio - cross trainer, treadmill and bike. What do you all think of this? I know some will say I should do…

Hi I am Jess, 26 years old from the UK. I'm just looking for some friends and support on here really! I have joined the gym too :) Would also love to meet people with a similar starting weight to me…

25f returning after a break - looking for support :)
Hey everyone, I'm returning here after a year to see if I can lose a bit more weight. I'm 25 yrs old, female and 14 stone at the minute which is a little too big for comfort. I have been fluctuating around this weight since I was about 15 and am getting a bit sick of it now! I've been just that bit bigger than average all…

Climbing and bouldering
So I have some friends who are really into climbing and bouldering, and I've been thinking it might be fun to join them. Is there anyone on here who is overweight/ generally low fitness level who climbs? I don't want to jump into something I won't be able to do and make a fool of myself :)

Influence of parents
I was just wondering whether anybody on here would partially or wholly attribute their weight problems to how they were brought up, or their parents' attitude to food? I know it's a pretty sensitive subject, but when I was a kid I was pretty much allowed to eat what I want, and I took full advantage of it... I feel if the…

Can't go to the gym today... what should I do instead?
Ok, so last night I treated myself to fish and chips, thinking "I'll do an extra half hour at the gym tomorrow to work it off". Except... it's a UK bank holiday and the gym is closed!! My boyfriend dropped me off and I don't take my phone or money to the gym with me, so I was stranded and had to walk home (about half an…
