  • So glad you are starting this journey now. My best advice is to start reading and researching healthy things. For instance, to get my brain in gear to help with all the changes I would have to make I read: Change Anything, the science behind personal success by Kerry Patterson, Next I read, Wheat Belly by Dr. William…

  • Working with a Dr is always good advice. However, I was sick for 27 years, did several elimination Diets, 2 sets of allergy tests and still no help. I had chronic hives and ended up in the hospital emergency room each year for almost 27 years, it's your gall bladder, it's this, it's that, and no one said that perhaps food…
  • Game of Thrones....in your pants!
  • http://mattikaarts.com/blog/baking-recipes/gluten-free-buckwheat-pancakes/ Buckwheat pancakes are the best. Not sure of the calories but Buckwheat is not a flour! Here is another awesome website that tells the nutritional value of buckwheat http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/cereal-grains-and-pasta/5681/2 there's a lot of…
  • To help me stay focused and on track I have been educating myself. These are the books I have read to help me with this very situation. "Change Anything: The science behind personal success" by Kerry Patterson and "Change your Brain Change Your Body" by Dr. Daniel Amen. These books give me tools that I have been able to…
  • I have found if I fluctuate my calorie intake it sort of wakes up my metabolism. For instance, some days I will be a bit below my recommended amount (not for too many consecutive days, because eating too few calories will put your body in starvation mode) and then eat my normal calories for a couple of days. I would watch…
  • Evidently, I was not paying very close attention to the fact that MFP does do it automatically without me doing anything! I just checked and it is using my current weight as the guide to my calorie intake in order to reach my goal of losing 14 more lbs! Thanks everyone! MB
  • MFP has never asked me to do anything at any interval so it may be something when I set my goals up originally. I do believe in the zig zagging thing so I will watch my intake more closely to make sure I am logging in correctly. Sometimes I just guess on portions or cannot find things in the database that match accurately…
  • Dear Tabinmaine, Thanks for your reply. I am from Maine too! Happy to meet you! I sent you a friend request:=) I will check back over my stuff to see if what you said shows up somewhere.
  • Good Morning! It sounds like you have a renewed energy around your health goals! That said you should have no problem getting to where you want to be especially with all the support here on MFP  Feel free to add me as a friend as well! • This is a great place to start. Lots of friends, lots of help, lots of support. All the things you need to work towards your goal! Welcome and enjoy!
  • Get the book by Dr. William Davis, "Wheat Belly" It will help you to understand about wheat and why it might be better for you to cut it out of your diet. But it also gives you alternatives to eat healthy, including recipes and meal a plan. Part of the struggle of being a carboholic for me is once I start eating carbs…
  • Beautiful before and gorgeous after! The hair color was a really dramatic change and compliments the new look. WTG!
  • I bought the "Premier Nutrition" High protein (30g) low fat and low sugar (1g) 160 calories per 11.5 oz drink and found that if in hurry this was a good option. However, I never do it on a daily basis. I much prefer food over a drink. However, the nights I had to work late through dinner it helped to drink this rather than…

  • I often wondered about this very thing...starting a regimen that made the food for you and then what happens when you stop! It might be helpful to look at other peoples eating habits that are your friends on MFP. If you do not have many then hopefully people will encourage you to friend them so you can see other MFP…
  • Welcome to the best place ever to get the support you need to be successful. Ok, First thing, you need to take a different route home now that you know this is a temptation! LOL!
  • Welcome and all the best to you on your journey! Add me if you'd like, it's much better with MFP friends to support you for sure!
  • I have hip problems as well and also cannot do any strenuous exercise. I bought a yoga cd and only do 10 minutes of stretching each day. It has made a tremendous difference in my hips. At first I could hardly do anything even for the stretching but as you can see I am not as young as I once was. However, after making the…

  • I think it means different things for each individual person. Probably you'll know it when you find it and then can tell us?
  • I so get where you are at! And you've made a wonderful step in a positive direction. I could have easily wrote what you said only from the female perspective. At some point you get sick and tired of being sick and tired. I too, blamed my health issues on "something else" It has taken years to admit that I was my own worst…
  • I have been yeast free for many years. Do I cheat, sure! The sugar cravings are the worst. At the suggestion of a dr many years ago over 20 now, I read the Yeast Connection http://www.amazon.com/Yeast-Connection-Medical-Breakthrough/dp/0394747003. I followed the book strictly and did not eat sugar or yeast producing foods…
  • I bought a yoga tape that has 5 different 10 minute yoga routines you can do in any order or just one alone. I have been doing the 10 minute stress relief yoga every day and I love it. I got it at sam's club. It's called 10 minute solution yoga for beginners. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Jlx1NnDpwA
  • Welcome aboard! This site has certainly been a motivator for me! Keeps me on track and focused. It's funny how tracking your food gives you insight into your habits, good and not so good. I started in the middle of the summer and am also fairly new so friend me if you need some support! honeyb7
