There are some great answers on here. I am not pre-diabetic or diabetic, but I have switched to a lower carb/grain-free approach because I do have PCOS (which many times comes with an insulin resistance and affects the way my body processes carbs). I know that your doctor said to go easy on the fats, but adding some…

The people who did the Couch to 5k also have a 10k trainer app. That is what I use. The first 8 weeks are Couch to 5k, then it transitions you from that to a 10k. I love it!

I have PCOS and thyroid issues. Losing weight for those of us with it does not seem to be as easy as calories in vs. calories out. Many have found success in lowering your carb levels and upping healthy fats. If you are not part of this group (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/3087-p-c-o-sis), I suggest it as a place…

I have found that the more carbs I incorporate into my diet, the hungrier I am. I have recently switched to a lower carb, higher fat intake and it has helped my hunger and cravings tremendously! I don't know what levels you're eating at, but I do suggest adding in more healthy fats (avocado, heavy cream, real butter,…

Butter, all the way!

Start slow. Any movement more than what you're doing now is a step in the right direction. My suggestion is to just start with walking. I love these stories of how people couldn't even walk around the block when they first started, but now they're running marathons or something cool like that. Start slow and gradually…

I have PCOS! It's important to find friends on here who also have PCOS because we lose weight differently (and much slower) than most people do. This group(http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3070-p-c-o-sis) is a great one for resources and information! I'll send you a friend request as well!

Yes! And the "cheese" in them that I'm not certain is real cheese. Bagel Bites are the same way! I used to LOVE those. Had some the other day and they did not taste great anymore. Also, I used to love Fruit Loops and I've noticed now that they leave a waxy film in my mouth.

I LOVE peanut butter and Jif used to be my peanut butter of choice! Until several years ago, I started making my own peanut butter and now Jif just tastes like oil to me.

I just had some Applegate uncured pepperoni and 1 oz. of Cabot Hot Habanero Cheddar cheese for a snack and it was delicious!

Thank you all for the info and suggestions! I've had a friend in town the last several days and have kind of gone carb crazy. I have not felt great and I think it has to do with my carbo overloading. But, as soon as I have a chance to sit down and make out a grocery list and get to the store, I'm going to try going grain…

From what I understand, Metformin can cause this as well. I'm not on it anymore, but when I was, I had terrible stomach aches and lost my appetite, as well as had frequent trips to the restroom.

Fabulous transformation so far! Keep up the good work!

3 oz. of Jenny-O Lean Turkey Sausage has 165 calories and 21 grams of protein! It's one of my favorites! Pair it with some fruit, an omelet with veggies, or some whole wheat toast or oats.

Welcome! I've sent you a friend request. There is an abundance of information here in this group, so I hope you find some of it helpful!

I will pack more calorie dense snacks for my husband to take to work with him that I do not pack for myself. Also, at dinner time, I make more starches for my husband, like potatoes and bread, that I replace on my plate with extra veggies. It's not always easy watching him eat things that I would love to be munching on,…

This... This is fantastic! :drinker:

If I know in advance where I am going to eat, I'll look up their menu, go ahead and decide what I'm going to eat when I get to the restaurant, and pre-log it in to my diary. This has helped me from making snap decisions at the table and has saved me many a calorie. As far as the restaurants that do not have nutrition info…

Saw Boston with my dad a couple of years ago and they were amazing! So much fun! Jason Aldean puts on a fantastic live show! I've seen him twice and would go to another of his shows in a heartbeat! And on the bucket list, Bon Jovi! He's one of my faves!

I did not seek professional help with this, although at times I thought it probably would have helped. I did, however, entrust a close friend or two and my {now} husband to help me get through it. It is still something that I struggle with at times, but those times are now very few and far between. I too can relate to some…

It's not hopeless. I'm sure it seems like it now, but it can get better. I am not a stranger to eating myself sick. I don't think that people who have never been here before understand that this is something that is harder to control than simple will-power. When I would go into binge mode (it still happens occasionally,…

Yes! I don't want to just lose weight as fast as I can (been there... done that... gained it back). I want to change my body in a way that is sustainable. I read a quote somewhere (I cannot for the life of me find it anywhere now though, so I can only paraphrase it) that said something to this effect: if there is no end to…

Don't give up so soon. It will take time. You have probably heard this before, but I'll say it again... you didn't put the weight on overnight, it won't come off overnight. I have been logging solid for a month now, working to eat more intentionally, working to stay within my calorie range with a deficit, and move more. I…

I'm a Florida girl too! It is stifling hot here right now and while wearing leggings under dresses works well in the winter time, it's not a feasible in the summer. Two things that I do: 1) Bicycle shorts - they're great! And not too hot. 2) Baby powder!

Binge Eater in recovery here! I used to order two meals at Zaxby's and be sure to order two drinks to go with it so they wouldn't know that I planned on eating both meals myself. And those bags of little powdered donuts? I have consumed many of those in my late night binge eating frenzies. It's not an overnight…

You should know your TDEE and BMR and then go from there! Your TDEE is how many calories you need to maintain your current weight. For fat loss, cut that number (your TDEE) by 20% and you'll have a good idea of the calories you should be getting per day. There are several places you can go to calculate your TDEE and BMR.…

I jazz up my chocolate protein shake sometimes by adding 1 Tbsp. peanut butter and 1 Tbsp. sugar-free butterscotch instant pudding mix. Voila! Butterfinger Protein Shake!

My favorite is Lindt 85% Dark Chocolate with a hint of sea salt!! It is so rich and delicious and one square only has 48 calories and 6 g of carbs! It's perfect for satisfying my late night chocolate craving!!

Mrs. Mitchell checking in! I'm Lindsay. I am aiming to keep my carbs at 100g or less per day. Yesterday, we had a retirement party for someone here at work and I knew I didn't want to sit there and watch everyone else enjoy the snacks, so I saved a lot of my calories and carbs for the 2:00 party. It worked well! I was able…

I'm not on metformin. I took it once before and it made me feel so sick and completely took away my appetite. I found out that I do not have Insulin Resistance with my PCOS, so I'm not sure the Metformin would do me any good? I'm not completely sure though. I'm still researching it all. The only thing I'm on right now is a…
