  • Well, despite a jam packed day including a trip to the ER to see my father I managed to get to the gym and get in a good work out. I feel all lovely and warm in the afterglow of activity :-) I saw the physiotherapist today and I have strained my hamstring and my calf :-( I have to stop Tennis, which is a pain but I had…
  • neeter - it sounds like you are doing all of the right things and you feel great. So keep on going. 5 lbs is a big fluctuation, but perhaps it's that time of the month? myastyme- impressive workout! You are Bringing it! P90X - I've never heard of this before, it sounds interesting but probably a bit beyond me at this…
  • I think I am in the "enjoy a kick in the bottom" approach to motivation, so hopefully I can join you all in Team No Excuses. I think that excuses are when I fall down and I do so much better with the doing it all approach. For me, a small bag of chippies leads gradually to a big bag so I need to avoid the small bag. I know…
  • Oh no! This is a terrible week for me to get the walking challenge. I normally do a minimum of 40minutes per day on the school run but my oldest daughter has the Chicken Pox!!!!!! Gaaaaaaaaah! We are house bound. So my stats are going to look terrible, so I am including my Couch 2 5K workouts which include running. Sat:…
  • You will definitely need to eat extra, particularly at the moment when your baby is getting all his/her nutrition from you. You don't want to harm your supply. I would add in an extra 500 cals and make sure you eat them. I would aim for slow loss until your baby is well onto solids, then you could increase your loss goals.…
  • I highly recommend Mountain Buggy's. They are brilliant and bomb proof and are a huge favourite of mine after trying out quite a few. They are light, strong and are very stable. They come in two main models, Terrain (fixed front wheel) and Urban (swivel, but can be fixed). I like the Urban myself. They also come in Single…
  • Bumping to the top!
  • I just finished reading an excellent topic (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/41685-how-it-s-done-tips-from-me-to-you) and it's made me decide to ask the wise ones of MFP specific advice about me! It's this quote in particular that made me wonder if I'm doing the right kinds of things : I am in the obese weight…
  • bumping so I can come back and check these out. I have discovered since trying to find running and exercise songs that the music I own is generally very dirge like.... I need some new songs!
  • Hey SB, why are your calories down by 99? Do you manually change your goal once you lose a certain amount ? I thought it must take account of that as it has my weight when I enter it in check-in? I'm still learning. Proudmama - you can do it. Wii's are fun :-) How are you going to win one?
  • Fri 1674/1699 Sat 1195/1200 Sun 1517/1642 Mon 1463/1416 Tues 1342/1376 Wed 1328/1200 Thurs 1416/2032 Weigh - in this morning and I am now 95kg which is 209.4 lbs. I just went and checked my initial goals from the original thread and I have met my mini - goal!!!!! I'm still a long way from my final goal weight, but it feels…
  • So exercise summary: Gym program 94 exercycle home 64 Gym program 84 RPM Class 60 Tennis + run 128 exercycle home 71 Gym program 76 Weigh in = 213.6 lb so that's a 1.1kg loss which is 2.3 lbs. Not 4 and 5 lbs like some of you, but still downwards woo hoo!
  • Thinking of you Pegm - Hope your husband finds something great soon. Thurs - ended up doing 72mins cardio on the exercise bike.
  • Wow! Loads of cardio happening  Aren't we all doing great! My numbers Sat 94 Gym cardio (includes 15 mins of circuit weights where my HR is high, not sure if that counts?) Sun 64 min (bike) Mon 84 min Gym cardio (includes 15 mins of circuit weights where my HR is high, not sure if that counts?) Tue 60 min…
  • Ok First check-in  Today I am 216lb. So 2lb down! Yay!
  • OK - Water intake.. 3 Feb - 4 cups 4 Feb - 5 cups 5 Feb - 7 cups I need to improve! I drink too much tea instead. I've never heard of these flavour sachets you are talking about adding to water. Our tap water is excellent though, so I have a very easy source of tasty water. Weigh in tomorrow. I'm hoping for some decent…
  • Hopefully it's not too late for me to join. I'll be slightly confusing as my ticker is in Kgs as we're metric on the other side of the world. I'll convert into lbs for the challenge  Starting weight 224 lb Current weight (as of last Friday) 218 lb Goal weight (4 weeks) 210 lb Goal weight 143 lb (65kg equivalent) I'm…
  • I have worn one for 1 day, so my experience is pretty limited. So far I just put it on tight and it seemed to stay up well. I have it just at the base of my bra. It doesn't feel at all at risk of falling down, but I'm not a skinny minnie (yet  ) so that may help!
  • Thanks  I checked out buying it through the US, but it's the value of the NZ dollar that is the killer at the moment and the cause of the price :ohwell: If it was a year ago it would have been significantly cheaper. But I ended up getting an excellent price this afternoon and am wearing it at the moment  It's…
  • I'm thinking very seriously about getting a HRM as I am motivated by numbers  However, they are lot more expensive in NZ than in the US (NZ$250-$300), so I want to check a few things first with the MFP experts before I consider such an outlay. 1- Can you turn off the beep? I will just not wear it if it is…
  • You can create a private blog very easily. I have a password protected blog on Wordpress that I only give family and close friends access too. If blogging helps you, then that could be an option as you can give people you want to read it access. This way your boss could NEVER read what you are writing without you giving…
  • Perhaps the silver lining is that you are being given a wonderful opportunity to concentrate on you! Once you have a job and perhaps later on kids it will be that much harder to put yourself first. This is a chance to give a healthy you a head start. That's a pretty great silver lining  Good luck on the job hunting…
  • I'm not a scale addict, but I can see the uses. It's been motivating to me as it gives me something to look at every day and remind me that I am going to do this. So I'm not sure that once a day is necessarily a bad thing for me.
  • Wow! Impressive time spent on the ET. I have never spent longer than 15 minutes as I like to mix up my cardio routine. Although I'm wondering now whether what I think an ET is, is the same as what you are all using? There is nothing like an incline option on the one I use at the gym? For me 10mins = 100cals. I clearly need…
  • Bump! I had no idea. I am learning all types of new things from MFP!
  • I had the same question this week as I just can't keep in my "target" heart rate zone without feeling like I'm doing nothing. I checked with one of my gym trainers and he told me to work as hard as I felt comfortable as it was better for me anyway. I'll be interested to read what the MFP experts say
