Hi!
I realised that I haven't posted an intro about myself before diving into the board and asking questions :embarassed: I joined last year, but I wasn't ready for the commitment I needed and stopped quickly. Now I'm back with a vengence and feel like nothing is going to stop me discovering a new healthy me! I have three…

I've gone from couch to runner in 2 months :)
I am feeling pretty amazing. I started the Couch to 5K beginner running program on the 11th February. I have always wanted to be a runner for no other reason than it always seemed like the pinacle of fitness and far too hard for me. I've tried and failed at many points during my life to be a runner, generally weighing a…

Swiss balls - do you have one and is it worth it?
My birthday is coming up and I have been asked for present ideas. I have been thinking of adding to my fitness gear and was wondering if a swiss ball is a good thing to own? It's just quite bulky so I don't want to own one if it's just going to get in the way. Or is there something else I should get first? I have some…

Oh MFP wise ones, can I have some advice please?
I just finished reading an excellent topic (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/41685-how-it-s-done-tips-from-me-to-you) and it's made me decide to ask the wise ones of MFP specific advice about me! It's this quote in particular that made me wonder if I'm doing the right kinds of things : I am in the obese weight…

Polar F6 - some questions
I'm thinking very seriously about getting a HRM as I am motivated by numbers  However, they are lot more expensive in NZ than in the US (NZ$250-$300), so I want to check a few things first with the MFP experts before I consider such an outlay. 1- Can you turn off the beep? I will just not wear it if it is…

Can you go from hating running to enjoying it?
I have always looked a bit enviously at people running and wished that I could do that. However, I've never liked it. Every time I've given it a go I hurt and end up jogging at a pace that most people could walk at. Not very encouraging! Now that I'm even more overweight I am wondering about it again after reading about…

Setting weight loss goals
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I can't find it. I am trying to set a realistic goal and I notice that MFP recommends 1lb/week. I've chosen 1.5lb/week as I'm a bit impatient. I don't want to sabotage myself though. I've got heaps to lose, 33kg. So can I stick with 1.5lb/week or should I reconsider?
