if they hadn't lost the newsfeed, i'd be here for my 5k fatty-versary - but as it stands, I may hold out for another 30-odd days and get my 13 year pin.

before around 177kg during -40kg near goal -70kg For reference, in the last picture, i'm 6'1", 48" chest, and could just about get into 38" waist Levi 501's - think small rugby player rather than skinny cyclist build... at that point my Doctor who'd been with me all the way in the process said "never mind about the…

^^^ THIS ^^^ confidence comes with familiarity - it's just down to practice.

ahhhh - sorry - I'm a bit slow today... yeah, saturday 1st, Sunday 2nd. ..... d'ohhhh
-
well, as I think we discussed Steve, technically, it's either... we're allowing either/best ride from saturday/sunday to qualify for this years challenge - I'm trying to encourage people to join in again :)

thanks for adding the "heads up" mate... yeah - i'm a bit busy at the moment - hopefully have more time at weekend where I'll get started on adding in the events calendar over on facebook for the existing members - but if there's anyone here that fancies a go, or wants to come back to it after trying it a few years ago…

i never did post my Christmas decorations, did I...

the ones in the video above are the "push forwards and down" ones, These are the "stomp onto" ones... you CAN also get a version of these cleats that are designed for commuters and beginners, called the "multi-release" version... they're easier to get into and out of, but at the rist of occasionally pulling your foot out…

just noticed you said you're "an injured distance runner". in that case, make sure you get someone to help you setup your cleats - even the slightest incorrect angling of the cleat can mean you're forcing your ankles knees and hips to "track" in an un-natural line. There's a reason why pretty much every bike-fit i've ever…

Still, they're WAY better than old school clips, straps and shoe plates. I remember a few times at the end of time-trials with the old kit, i'd get over the finish line, miss my "catcher" and basically just fall over still tied to the bike, unable to get my feet out. Best I could hope for was to fall kerbside and not into…

If you've got an indoor trainer, setup the bike on there and practice clipping in and out on there until it becomes second nature. if not, lean upside a wall, and do the same failing that, find a nice soft grass playing field and go fall off in that while you practice. you'll generally find that you have more problems with…

or you've bought some dodgy scales and it means "Your Mass May Vary" ;) JK - it's what ^^^ they said.

MTB Nutrition... Growlers and Tangfastics for the win.

brilliant - can't believe everyone else that is in this group is a slap-head and can't join in... wassup folks, too shy... FFS, you go outside for hours on end dressed in Lycra so tight people can tell what religion you are, you can't be THAT shy!

love how the swearie filter takes out a coloquialism for cigarette packet, and leaves the word bollocks btw. Same kind of cockwombles that mangle the word Scunthorpe...

I was just thinking that... lets put it this way, the only ride i've got in the books with a "proper" powermeter, that burned that much - 4.91kcals - was 130km, over a duration of 5h38m (ok, so I'm sloooow) at an average power of 233w... (that was a while ago, and as you've probably realised from the lack of speed, i'm a…

beats me where they get those ideas...

well - if you want to administer a challenge thread in this group, feel free to do so - I await whatever you come up with... (if you build it, they will come...) (I'm biding my time until the challenge I run that's themed over the "spring classics" races begins in around a month and a bit...)
-
Best way to get the group to pick up is to post something yourself - ask about the e-bikes... get advice on things... it'll only pick up if people participate rather than lurk - it's the same in any community Good luck with the e-bike thing - I must be honest, earlier in my rehab after the heart problem I was tempted, but…

I'd LOVE to see more activity in here - I only wish I still had enough time to generate the amount of stuff I used to in here...

I'm really, really sorry Clive - i've just not had the time or the heart (unintentional pun that's a little close to the mark...) to get involved and keep stirring the pot in here mate... After buggerlugs spat his dummy and killed off the grand tours, I very nearly walked away from the whole lot... That said, 2019 is the…

can't believe that the Classics have now come and gone for 2018. Big thanks to everyone who rode, and even bigger thanks to Steve for actually doing all the heavy lifting and turning my initial framework of a spreadsheet into something far greater than it'd ever been. Hopefully we'll be going again in 2019.

couple of years in between, and I'm not sure if the hair going grey in the intervening period was related or not! 162.5kg down to 110kg. Still a way to go.
-
I'm in again - might be a slow start from me, got a head-cold going on at the moment, and taking a couple of rest days to let it clear before getting out on the bike again.

Lets see how September pans out, after a dreadful August, I need to get my backside in gear and get on with riding more... 1.9 - https://www.strava.com/activities/1811713406 - 36.46km and 340m of ascent. 2.9 - https://www.strava.com/activities/1814097936 - 42.31km and 340m of ascent. 3.9 - dnr 4.9 -…

how are you calculating your energy expenditure... you're not just going off the "guesses" that MFP provides for cycling exercises are you? because, they're notoriously rubbish. Get a HR monitor, and a Garmin, record the rides, use the Calorie Calculation the Garmin gives. Okay, so you're "off grid" in the bush - there's…
