  • Plain oatmeal (even steel cut) with fruit etc makes me hungry after about 2hrs. If I add heavy cream and/or butter I'm good for about 4hrs. 3 eggs and veges cooked in butter holds me over for about 5hrs.
  • They probably wouldn't, no.
  • I'm 5'5 and have a little over a stone to lose. I'm not hugely active, but am breastfeeding a 10mth old. I'm using TDEE and eating in the range of 1900-2100/day and have been losing about a pound a week.
  • Yeah I kinda do - I have a diastasis in my abdominal muscles (3 really big babies in 4.5yrs will do that to ya..) so when I'm fat I just look fat all over but when I lose weight my tummy still stays stick-y-out-y, so I end up looking pregnant as arms/legs are slim and tummy is not.
  • Thats good to bear in mind, thank you :)
  • +Thankyou :) I don't think eating 2000+ cal would be viewed as restricting though would it?
  • I think this is a good plan. I've been logging for about a week now, and we eat fairly low carb/high protein meals as a family anyway (cos of hubs dietary requirements) so I think I'm on the right track. I don't have a scale at home but thats probably a good thing, can only weigh myself every few weeks that way. If nothing…
  • Thanks. Am I right in understanding that BMR is what you'd use if you were literally lying down all day? So prob with normal daily activities I would actually use a little more?
  • Thanks :) I just did my BMR on one of those online calculators, have no idea if they're accurate or not (165cm 83kgs 30yrs old)
  • I dunno where abouts you are and if you can get this there, but I SWEAR by this stuff called "hypercal". Its a herbal thing made from hypercium (that might not be spelled right!) and calendula, I dilute it with water and sprayed after everytime I went to the bathroom. I had 3rd degree tears both times and the OBGYN and MW…
  • Same here, I had an Epi with my first and none with my second and I really feel like it was way easier the 2nd time. Pushing was much more effective cos I could feel what I was doing and it only took 20min compared to the 1.5hrs and assisted delivery I needed from trying to push flat on my back with no feeling! I had a…
  • it is soooo hard! I've had to basically tell myself that i can do whatever it takes to get thru the first trimester and will deal with the fallout once i feel better. When I can (sometimes the nausea won't let me) I snack on almonds which helps a bit and and is better than always eating toast. Going to bed really early…
  • I wasn't being snarky! I was honestly wondering... I only eat legumes occasionally, because I get sick of eating meat all the time. I realise they're high in carbs. I dont' eat sugar/honey/bread/pasta/potatoes/rice at all. Eg today my 100gr carbs come from tomato, avo, courgette, greek yoghurt, cauliflower, an apple, some…
  • Avo has heaps of carbs! I never realised until I started logging!
  • I imagine basically eggs and meat and not much else? I eat 100-150grams carbs/day, and I get those from veg/fruit/nuts and occasionally some legumes. I don't know how I'd manage to do less than 50 without severly cutting back my veges.
  • Well, when I say "I didn't have GD" I mean my tests were negative at 28wks, but that still leaves 12wks for blood sugar issues to develop yeah?. I am meduim height/build, and so is husband, its really not genetic, and the 2nd baby in particular had a very diabetic look to her. I refuse to believe I naturally grow 11lb…
  • Pregnancy is what has caused me to give Paleo/Primal a go I have had 2 babies who were 10lb 11oz and 11lb...I didn't have GD but Im' sure my carb-filled diet contributed to them being so large. Only been eating this way for a week but loving it! Prob eating between 80-130gr carbs a day. Finding I have more energy this time…
  • Yeah, I don't eat bread/pasta/rice/potatos/oats/sugar and my carbs are usually about 130 a day - just from fruit and veg. To only eat 50g carbs/day you'd have to have no fruit and only low carb veg.
