Ryne Sandberg, now manager of the Philadelphia Philles. That man is fine no matter how old he is.

Omigoodness! Pausing a Minecraft game is epic! (Says the mother of a 10 year old that is OBSESSED with that game . . . . .)

What a great thread! I'm jumping in, even though I've been lazy on the message boards lately. -I just turned 40 and live in Nebraska. -I'm a lawyer and have been married to my amazing husband, also a lawyer, for almost 15 years. -We have three kids. My youngest is 5 and has a very rare genetic disorder and is unable to…

 It's my understanding that the majority of women cannot do even a single unassisted pullup or chinup. So don't feel bad about not being able to do one! That said, however, there are ways to train so that you can eventually become one of those badass women who can do at least one. I'm currently using assistance…

I didn't choose one over the other. I did NROLFW first, and then did SL. I would recommend that you decide which one appeals to you most and go for it. You really cannot go wrong either way.

You gals made me laugh out loud!

@Dani: I totally second the recommendation for Nia Shanks Beautiful Badass. That's a whole lotta workouts for $34. I actually bought her (S)hero program with it, for an additional $11 bucks or so, and that's the program I'm doing right now. I like the simplicity but with a bit more variety. I'll do this for 16 weeks and…

Ditto.

Hey all. Just poking my head in. I've been off for a week with a nasty cold and then a long weekend getaway. Ready to get back at it tonight. Congrats to all on the awesomeness and welcome newbies!

Yay! I'm glad your back is ok. My two cents on 3 x 5 is go ahead and switch. Starting Strenth is 3 x 5 from the beginning, and pretty much the same as SL except for power cleans in place of rows. And frankly, if time is an issue, its better to do 3 x 5 consistently than to skip 5 x 5 workouts due to lack of time.

My fave is deadlifts, probably because they are "easy" for me. I hate squats. Hate them. Because they are hard.
-
For what it's worth, squats are my nemesis too. I get to 120 and then just cannot seem to progress from there. I got to where I just totally dreaded doing them. It helped when I switched to 3x5, but it helped even more when I switched to Nia Shanks's (s)Hero and now only squat once a week. I love them again when I don't…

Love this! Doesn't it feel good to be strong?

Happy early birthday, you young lass you. (I turned 40 2 weeks ago). And awesome numbers--keep up the great work!
-
just jumping in to keep up. I have a confession, though--I've moved away from SL. I started Nia Shanks' (s)hero program on Wednesday. I just needed a little change---and a shorter workout. I loved the first week, but man I feel the cardio burn way more than with SL. A lot of the lifts are the same, so I'm still gonna hang…

@Dani: one of Nia's programs (of the 19) in Beautiful Badass is called A.D.D. It might be your dream workout!
-
Holy yikes those are some impressive numbers! You go girl. I switched to 3 x 5 before I started the second cycle of SL. But after 6 weeks of that I got too bored, and I've now moved on to Nia Shanks. I bought her Beautful BadAss and her (s)hero programtotal for all of it was about $50. And its something like 15 different…

I didn't buy S(hero) but I have heard great things! I am going to be doing the 6-3-9-3 workout from BB. I ended up picking it because it's pretty much NOT SL  I still want to do the big compounds, but split up and different rep ranges. I love that it's one big lift and then 2 accessory lifts each workout and of…

Vegas, I hear ya on this. I actually started Nia Shank's S(hero) program last night. (I got Beautiful BadAss too but this one appealed to me more right now). It is quite similar to SL as far as the lifts, but a little more variety in the reps. And shorter, which frankly this mamma of 3 needs as summer activities pick up. I…

Love it.

I'm WAY too scared of tats. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the piercing. Highly recommend.

Hi ladies! I've been gone for a few days--girl trip to help celebrate turning 40--so I'm a little behind. But yay everyone getting new racks. I totally love mine and show off pictures of it like it is one of my kids. My left IT band is still bothering me from my foray into c25k. A PT friend gave me some stretches…

We are height and weight twins! And I feel the same way---don't care about the number on the scale. Just don't want to jiggle.
-
Julie--wow, what a change. You go girl. And Cbart . . . I gotta say it. Nice butt.:blushing:
-
Cleo: I hear ya. I switched to 3 x 5 when 5 x 5 seemed like it just took too long---and I LOVE IT! Good luck to you. Side note: I'm afraid my c25k experiement may be over. Did day 1 of week 2 on Saturday and my left knee screamed at me the rest of the day. I think its my old IT band issues re-surfacing. Sigh. Anyone else…

Not a stupid question. PR means personal record (at least that's how I use it). And generally a "cycle" of SL is 12 weeks.
