I don't understand why they don't sell a box a quarter of the size, individually wrapped, and charge twice as much. That's how the big companies make their bucks with 'healthy alternatives'. Snack pack only 90 calories! *small print: per serving. Each cookie = 2 servings*

As I see it, salads are there to prevent me from chewing the furniture in the restaurant while I wait for my food. At home I'll make my own salads with spinach, romaine (no iceberg), sesame seeds, various cheeses, a slight drizzle of classic olive oil (not extra virgin), real bacon bits, shredded carrots, radishes, red…

Run things like in life through the "Effectiveness Test". Does beating yourself up work? If so, by all means proceed. If not, discard and move on to something that is effective. This test is good for other things such as worry and fear.

Get wild salmon if you have a choice, the difference is flavour versus fat. Although wild is more expensive, you can buy at a bulk store and freeze extras.

I'm still not convinced it's a fish. All other fish on the menu seems tasty, so I'm wondering if the videos showing it cut and prepared are a conspiracy. My biggest restaurant disappointment was at Hibachi Steakhouse where they changed the menu from a gorgeous Red Snapper to this flavorless (except what I could only…

Salmon and cod are great baked. Salmon can also hold up to stronger flavours like Teriyaki or Old Bay. Cod seems more delicate, butter and herbs. For the Tilapia, pan fry it as quickly as possible, let it cool, then give it to the cat.

For me it's when my stomach becomes upset, partly due to the acidity. Although from a nutritional standpoint I've not heard of too much fruit, but I have heard of too little protein, iron, and other dietary needs not found in fruit.

"Paula Deen represents everything that is wrong with America" Paula Deen racked up our country's 15 trillion dollar debt? Destroyed the twin towers? Failed to deliver on international promises to support our allies? Is the reason why jobs are being outsourced overseas and 10% unemployment? Lynch mob unite!

+ I cut my own hair and my spouse straightens the back I can't see. + Glad to see others re-use Ziploc/Glad bags too. + Eating less these days, using My Fitness Pal means more money in my pocket + Coupons wherever possible + E-mail instead of print + I make my own saline nasal spray (0.65% Saline solution = water + salt)…

My mother's lasagna, it's like Garfield all over again:

I plateau'd twice. My first diet was to cut saturated fats and fried foods, which meant very little take-out food. Lost about twenty pounds there. After plateau, I decided to portion control, cutting whatever I ate in half and ditched caffeine (which caused hunger swings for me). This worked for a while too, losing another…

I liked Yoga Zone a lot when it was on TV. The DVD's are inexpensive to get: I'm not very flexible so I was frustrated by other Yoga programs that went like this: 1.) Step One, place both hands above your head. (Sweet, I can do this) 2.) Set Two, twist yourself into a pretzel now hold. (What?! O_o)

Dark meat can hold some 'serious business' when it comes to spices. I'd say go with Indian spices or Jamaican jerk. There's the ole American classic with gravy and toast as well.

After getting a Bachelor's in Biology (with $64,000 in student loans which is only part of my debts), I found myself unemployed for 8 months. I even applied at a local coffee shop who'd refuse to take me because "you're not going to hang around here long enough". In the meanwhile I volunteered at church because I couldn't…

Although I'm happily married, I feel frowned upon if I mention it.

I had the most fun at Kung-Fu. It was a hard workout but learned all kinds of techniques and practical applications.

I believe that the mind, body and spirit are a dynamic relationship. For example, feeling good can help you say no to a dessert helping you lose weight, while at the same time losing weight can make you feel good that you're accomplishing your goal. Although people use spirit as a last resort, praying only when in dire…

I've also heard that 'airy' desserts are the way to go, which makes sense. The less density, the less calories and still a tongue pleaser.

'Individually wrapped' small sweets are certainly something I believe in because while I'm unwrapping I can count calories. Also, I find I enjoy them more than unwrapping once and chomping large chunks. Perhaps there's a feeling of sophistication as well like those micro-sized portions at a fancy restaurant

I agree popcorn is a good pick and does help with feeling full. The exception to the rule of course would be at the movies: "It found that a Regal medium popcorn -- 20 cups -- contains 1,200 calories, 60 grams of saturated fat, and 980 milligrams of sodium. That's without the buttery topping that can be drizzled -- or…

Your post is inspirational, I know I should gain muscle and it gave me the incentive to look up the information.

By 'we' I meant my household. When our family is in the U.S., we go once every week or two weeks as needed. Sorry I was unclear and wasn't meaning to speak for the whole country. I only live in one part and visit a few other parts.

Here's an interesting response: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080723065454AAHzde4 "...go for lifting heavy weights for low reps. If you've not exercised then I'd suggest a run in period that will get your body toned and ready as well as get your nutrition on track and time set aside in your life. You can…

In the U.S. we only go once every week or two weeks as needed. When staying in the U.K. it's common practice to go every other day due to food expiration dates. If you're a healthy eater who insists on fresh fruits and vegetables rather than waiting for them to ripen or being out of season, I can certainly understand why…

I do not log my exercise because I find my physical work to be minimal. Besides moving a few heavy things at work now and then or pushing carts, my 'work-out' is merely cleaning house and other daily maintenance. If I still did kung-fu however, I'd certainly log at least half of those intense workouts.
