I am right there with you. I think those are crazy. They want me to weigh something I weighted back in middle school? Are you crazy? I have had 2 kids and my body is not made that way anymore! I like to use my wii fit board for stepping for cardio while holding my weights at the same time doing different arm exercises for my arms. I don't think that's true. I felt different after the first lvl of the 30ds. To back it up, I had done my measurements at start, then at the end of lvl 1 and will again at the end of lvl 2 and lvl 3. The most I felt it in on lvl 1 was my abs. I just took it as a sign that there IS something in there besides fat! Maybe try something between. Don't completely stop just lighten up your load. That way your muscles aren't being pushed too much but then aren't completely stopping. That way it would be easier to start back up after your soreness goes away. :o) Good luck.

I would say as long as the fat is turning into muscle or toning up, I wouldn't be so worried about loss. It's not that one outweighs the other, Its the fact that fat is being replaced with muscles. I think most people are putting it under circuit training. Don't know how closely they are related calories burnt wise to make that much of a difference though. Might want to check and if they are pretty close, use whatever you want.
