  • Check out Lindsay Nixon with Happy Herbivore. She sells a Meal Mentor plan that is actually really reasonable that outlines a weeks worth of meals, recipes and shopping list adaptable to an individual or family.
  • Go to www.dashingdish.com and she has a bunch of recipes for 'shakes' that use cottage cheese as the base and they are really good. My favorite is the peanut butter/butterscotch one, but she has about 15-20 recipes.
  • I am on the same boat you are drifting away from the shore! So mad at myself for eating the way I have since Thursday. I actually hit my goal weight on Tuesday and was so excited and knew it might be a bad omen...as I wouldn't feel the push to stay on track being so close to my goal. I am not going to weigh myself for a…
  • My daughter and I just went today and had the Burger King Veggie Burger for the very first time. It was really good. If you order it the way they fix it by default but have them hold the mayo, it is 340 calories.
  • Unshelled means with the shells, so the 1/4 cup calorie count is as they are right out of the bag....
  • Oh, and I just noticed that we are exactly the same height. 5'5.5"
  • My stats are about the same as yours and I definitely feel the difference even if it isn't a huge number. My pants actually fit and some even too loose now and all my tops look much better. My energy level is better also. I'm 60 so my 147 pounds isn't as 'taut' as your 147 pounds, but it still feels great :)
  • If it says 100% Whole Wheat and 100% Whole Grain, I would say they are both good. It means that they contain all whole grains. The 100% Whole Grain would probably have other grains besides wheat in them (like oats) but are still 100% whole grain. The one to watch out for is multi-grain which does not mean that the grains…
  • Thanks for the Chili's suggestions...much appreciated.
  • Sodium count was 1480 which isn't great, but sometimes you have to make 'the best of the worst' choices when you are in an eating situation.
  • I eat back most of mine...is what makes it worth exercising :)
  • This is one of the most inspiring stores about weight loss I have heard. You deserve all good things in life and I hope you get them :)
  • I hear ya...I just turned 60 and it isn't exactly melting off.... Even at 1200 calories a day, I am only supposed to lose .7 lb per week and that is just about what I am losing. I'll go down a couple pounds and then back up a couple...definitely a zig-zag pattern but the overall trend is down. Since June 30, I have only…
  • Salad with low-fat Italian or Italian on the side. Spaghetti (preferably whole wheat) and marinara sauce and only eat half. Won't hurt you too badly.
  • I never eat or drink anything at the movies. Started years ago when I didn't have enough money to do that and has just continued. But, I would definitely take something in to eat...grapes are a good idea...anything else that is finger food and healthy. When I do something like that I don't feel guilty, because if they…
  • Really like doing her tapes even if her voice does sometimes annoy me. On Sparkpeople, they count it as Low Impact Aerobics, so that is what I have been doing here. I have worn my heart rate monitor about three or four times doing her tapes and then compare to just choosing Low Impact and it has been pretty much right on,…

  • I am the queen of 'sides' when I go to a restaurant. In addition to dieting, I don't eat meat, so many times, I'll just order 3 sides...some veggies, potato, stuff like that and it actually ends up being quite a nice meal. I also usually only eat half of any main entree I order and take the other half home and 'eat out' at…
  • I quit eating meat mainly because of the impact it has on the environment to produce it. Here is a link to some information on this: http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-food/meat-wastes-natural-resources.aspx I know that some people have issues with PETA and I sometimes question their tactics so you can Google the…
  • Summer Vegetable Ravioli - this is a great recipe I made for the first time last week out of an old Pillsbury Cookbook Prep Time: 25 Min Makes: 4 (1 1/2cup) servings INGREDIENTS: 1 (9-oz.) pkg. refrigerated cheese ravioli 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil 1 small onion, coarsely chopped 1 garlic clove, minced 2 small…
  • Would really like to find my twin...would be great support as it will take me a really long time to lose my weight. SW: 160 lbs GW: 140 lbs CW: 150 lbs Height: 5'5.5" Age: 60
  • Thanks so much. I do enjoy walking and enjoy Walk at Home videos. I have worn my HRM and my heart rate gets up to and stays at the same level as walking briskly on the treadmill which I was pleasantly surprised to find out. Leslie Sansone gets a little grating at times, but I don't get nearly as bored with her videos and…
  • Thanks! I printed off the C25K sheet with each of the weeks and also downloaded music for each week from Podrunner. I just went down on my treadmill and did Week 1 Day 1 and it went pretty good. My right knee complained a little on the run, but not bad. I am a regular walker. I did my walk at 3.5 and I ended up doing my…
  • I make homemade bread and what I have to do is figure the calories in the whole loaf, weigh the loaf, figure out how many calories per ounce and then just weigh it as I eat it to figure it out. My homemade bread always has more calories in it that store bought because it is all food and isn't fluffed with air the way many…
  • Steel Cut Oats cooked, then a teaspoon of margarine/butter, salt, few walnuts and craisins. I don't like my oatmeal sweet and this is wonderful...yummm....
  • Totally an amazing transformation! Congratulations. A quick question. I also have episodes of PSVT. Have you noticed that they have diminished with your weight loss at all? I had been charting mine since the first of the year. Up to July 23rd, I had had 55 episodes this year. I started dieting on July 1 (don't have a huge…
  • The way I look at it is...I didn't gain this weight from eating fruit...it is chock full of vitamins and fiber...as long as you aren't overeating your calories, I think it is great for your body.
  • August 27 - 4 miles 44 miles down Goal was 50. Leaving town tomorrow morning for a week...doubt I'll get my 50 in...durn it, but close :)
  • Steel cut oatmeal with a few walnuts, some dried cranberries, a little Smart Balance and salt....very yummy. You can cook up several servings of the oatmeal and then just reheat each morning. Very filling and healthy. Also, I have a great whole grain spelt pancake recipe that is healthy and good in calories...really good…
