  • Just got back, I did 5k and honestly I felt great, I haven't ran 5k for a while, I've just been doing 3k, I guess that complacency was setting in, I honestly felt like I could have carried on but I didn't want to push it. I feel so much better than I did this morning B)
  • Cheers everyone. I really do enjoy going to the gym, it certainly isn't too aggressive as I only use the treadmill, the fact that I enjoy it is part of the reason I took the week off, it was beginning to feel like a bit of a chore. I've been delaying it all day but now I'm ready to go, I'm just giving my headphones a bit…
  • Last night I was craving a takeaway badly, fish and chips, curry, KFC, pizza I wanted it all and was so close to ordering something. I have no idea how I dealt with it, I wasn't hungry at all, just desperate for something nice to eat, I managed it though and I feel better about myself this morning.
  • I go to the gym early morning 3 times a week and once or twice on a Sunday, sometimes the early mornings can be really tough just to get out of bed but I just tell myself "If I don't do it today I probably won't so it tomorrow either" That seems to work for me and I always feel better as soon as I get out of bed, I've been…
  • Weigh yourself once if you feel you have to just for piece of mind and then hide the scales and check back in a month or two and see how you have done. You said yourself that you can feel the difference in the way your clothes are fitting so I'd only weigh yourself if it is really playing on your mind, if you are seeing…
  • Brummie here
  • I work and 8-4 desk job as well I'm an early riser anyway so 3 or 4 times a week I'm in the gym for about 5:15am, at first I was only doing about 20/25 minutes on the treadmill so I was back home for before 6am. As I'm getting a little fitter I'm wanting to spend longer in there so now I'm getting in the gym at 5:15am and…
  • I tried C25K before and it wasn't really for me, I went into it having done zero exercise since I was a teenager and I couldn't get past week 3. When I rejoined a different gym I started off just doing 2k, you log into the treadmill using your phone and it logs all of your runs and flashes up on the screen when you have…
  • I'm struggling a bit at the minute as well, I've been going to the gym for 2 months now and whilst every thing is fine and I'm slowly losing the weight I am just feeling a little fatigued by it now. Today was the first time I've been in 5 days and I almost didn't bother, when I was in there I just couldn't get started, I…
  • Well so far I've lost 10lbs in 8 weeks :p B)

  • So since I did that 5k last week I've been getting a pain in my groin, I've only been to the gym twice since because of it, I went again today and it was still there so I quit after just 2 or 3 minutes. I know I need yo give myself time to recover but I also know that if I don't go then there is the possibility that I'll…

  • I've just been doing it on my own, I've tried and failed with C25K in the past and have found it a lot easier motivating myself and I've seen great returns so far. I only use the treadmill and don't do anything else at the moment, I have been thinking about using the bikes on the days I'm feeling particularly sore.
  • I'VE JUST RAN 5K I'm over the moon with myself, I wasn't planning on it, I was planning on doing 3 or 4k but I felt alright and just kept going, I wasn't killing myself with my pace either. I managed it in 37 minutes, I really have got the bug for this running game now. The strange thing is that when I got to the final…

  • Well I'm back again. Those of you in the UK will know how muggy and humid the weather has been over the last few days, my god, I didn't realise how much more difficult it would make it, I was running but I was getting all puffed out and didn't feel like I was getting a full sack of air. I only managed 3k today but I'm not…

  • Lol how strange, I'll be sure to check my kneecap next time I have a run, it's not something I've noticed but it's not something I've checked either
  • Well I ran 3.5k this morning and u was annoyed at how long it took me, then I had a look back and I've only actually ran 3.5k three times before (plus one 4k) and today I took over a minute off my time (26 minutes 11seconds, my first one 3.5k was 28minutes 21 seconds) I suppose it goes back to my previous post, if I didn't…

  • When I first joined a gym it was a horrible daunting experience, it was a massive place and one of the staff members did an induction with me, I told him I just wanted to get on a treadmill but he had me doing all this HIIT stuff on cross trainers and all sorts, my fitness level was non existent and I was absolutely done…
  • Also when I feel like I'm not making progress I go back to my opening post. In the space of less that 2 months I've gone from running a slow 2k to running 3k in 25 minutes to running 3k in 22 minutes and now I'm regularly running 3.5k and have just completed my first 4k. Sometimes it's easy to be blind to your own…

  • Cheers Grimendale Well I'm just back from my 4k effort. First time I've tried it and I succeeded so I'm pretty pleased with myself, it took 30 exactly 30 minutes which is pretty poor I know but I did it and I'll only get faster. Next week I'm going to drop back down to 3k and see if I can do it faster. My fastest 3k has…

  • Well I know that I only speak to myself in this thread but I'm good with that, it's all very Zen in here Anyways, I've just weighed myself and I've lost 6lbs in the last 4 weeks, might not be a huge amount for someone like me but it's took me to below the 20st mark for the first time in ages. Another 4 weeks of this and…

  • Had a few days off and as I mentioned in another thread, I've ate and drank like a pig for the last 3 days (I've noticed that I'm comparing myself to a pig an awful lot in these posts) I'm also coming to realise that if I want to keep on improving I need to look after myself a bit more, that was tough today, I can only put…

  • This has happened to me in a big way this weekend, Thursday and Friday I drank a bucket load of lager, ate absolute rubbish as well. I've just weighed myself and the scales are saying that I gave gained 4lbs in 3 days, lol that isn't great. It's Sunday morning and I am just about to head up to the gym, I really don't want…
  • I've just had a check and in the last 12 days I've ran 3k four times, 3.5k once and 2k a couple of times, in total I've ran 20k. Not bad for a 20st fat man if you ask me. I sweat like a stuck pig though, I reckon I always will.

  • I have literally just made a post talking about this feeling. Too often in the past after a couple of days off I end up delaying and delaying getting started again, this morning was the first time in 4 days that I've been able to go to the gym and it was tough getting out of bed for it. I know what I'm like though and I…
  • Well due to social reasons I haven't been able to go to the gym since last Thursday so I've had 4 days off. Initially it was a struggle just getting out of bed but at 5am in the morning I had enough clarity to think "if I don't force myself to get out of bed today then I probably won't tomorrow either" and I was up and…

  • Ha your not so good after a few beers still makes my attempt pretty poor, something for me to work towards though, I'm only in my second week and initially struggled to run for one mile so there is time for improvement on my side

  • How long ago did you actually start? I know you say 'for the last week" but was you doing anything before that? If not just keep at it, it will come. The standard answer will be to weigh every single thing you eat to make sure you aren't accidentally going over your daily calorie count. Stick with it
  • So I missed Tuesday due to bank holiday celebrations leaving me a little worse for wear (thanks to Aston Villa  ) Yesterday I took it easy as I still wasn't feeling 100% Today I ran 3.5k with no breaks at all, longest distance and duration so far, I'm quite pleased with that. I purposely kept the speed lower so I…

  • Someone stole my treadmill at the gym this morning, I get there at 5am for gods sake and someone was already on it, there are 6 treadmills but I have claimed that one as my own. And just to rub salt into my wounds about a minute after I started running the dude hopped off it and walked out of the gym.
  • Surprisingly there hasn't been any pains or anything that doesn't feel right so far, my legs have felt a little tender afterwards but that passes after just a few hours, I bought a cheap pair of running trainers and they have made all the difference, when I was going to the gym before my feet would literally feel numb by…
